#WednesdayWordswithFriends Happy Birthday to ME!

Yep, today's the big 60 and I'm ecstatic. No, not crazy LOL! but ecstatic because May 31st is my last day of work outside of the home.

I'm probably the only woman you'll meet that actually looked forward to turning 40. As Rebecca Sinclair (The Inheritance) put it....

When I turn forty, my youngest will be eighteen and out of school, and I’ll be through raising kids!

Now I know you never truly finish raising kids, but there comes a point when you're more a friend and advisor than instructor/corrector. For me that was age 40.

When you lose a spouse, you don't think about the future too far in advance but at some point, you realize God has a purpose and a plan for your life. For me, turning 60 means I can RETIRE!

From Insurance at least. I'll probably never retire from writing and doing the things I love. And, although I'll be forever grateful for the jobs God has blessed me with in the past, I'm looking forward to working on My Stuff (actually HIS stuff.)

Much like Melena in My Heart Weeps, I can finally, fully focus on my writing career.

But hey, I'm keeping my Insurance License active for the next several years in case I get bored being retired and want to go back to work.

Anyway, since today is my birthday, I'm offering a gift to YOU!

Leave a comment & your email address and one lucky winner will receive an E-copy of The Inheritance and one, My Heart Weeps.

Thank you and Good luck!

#TuesdayTreasures Multi-Author Book Signings/Conventions

Good Morning Friends!

Well, here we are in October! Football is underway, Halloween is drawing near. Our hearts go out to the folks in Las Vegas for the tragic event over this past weekend. I ask that you join me in uplifting the families and friends affected and sending love, light, prayers and healing energy to the city.

Also, I'd like to bring to your attention an upcoming event.... Love N. Vegas held October 27-29 is one of the most prominent book signing conventions, bringing the most influential authors together in one location!

So what should you do/bring if you're one of the honored guests?

Here are a few ideas....

*Promo Items: Book Marks, Pens, Magnets, small notebooks with your book cover glued to the front. People love free stuff and even if they don't buy that day, many times they'll purchase something later or pass your information on to someone they suspect will love your work.

*Candy Dish: Filled with an assortment of wrapped or packaged candy.

*Books! Be sure you have several copies of your title(s).

*Wear Comfortable Clothing. You don't have to be sloppy but neither do you need to be uncomfortable.

*Make Eye Contact and Initiate Conversation: People love to know more about you and your book(s), be prepared to talk to them! Don't hide in a corner or spend so much time talking to your neighbors that you ignore the reading public.

*Get the name/address of everyone who buys your book(s): Ask their permission to be added to your email/newsletter list. This is your readership!

*Give away a copy or two of your book(s): Have people sign up for the drawing. Let them know by doing so, they'll be added to your email/newsletter list unless they opt out (make sure there is a place on the form for them to do so).

*Most Importantly have fun! Being a part of one of these is truly a treasure to remember!

These are just a few ideas to help you have a wonderful and successful event. For more information visit Love N. Vegas website and for travel/lodging arrangements check out Las Vegas travel deals page for the best flight and hotel packages!

Hope you enjoyed today's post and that you'll drop by each week for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.

Don't forget, the blog tour and rafflecopter giveaway for The Inheritance is going on now! Be sure and drop by each stop and enter to win!

Until next time, take care and God bless.

Meanwhile, please welcome Pamela Jannarone back to our blog. Earlier this month she shared an interview with Christian Lee the Partner and Publisher at Centum Press. Today Pamela is sharing something else she treasures with us....

Take it away, Pamela!

Confessions of a Writer

It always amazes me to hear the wonderful stories from writers that write for the Confessions’ market.  Many of the comments that I have heard resonate so clearly with my own.  And each story is so fascinating.

Childhood Dreams

At a younger age, I remember reading the confession magazines that my mother used to purchase, just like her mother had.  And one particular story hit home about family relationships love and turmoil and yet at the end of the story an uplifting moral was revealed.  These were true stories written from real people that wanted to share their trials and tribulations, their experiences of humanity from a first point of view, their very own perspective.

I remember reading and saying to myself, I want to write a story for this market one day.  And then life carried on as usual.  As I grew up I experimented life with a passion taking with it the good and the bad.  That dream of writing stayed in the back of mind while I juggled education, different types of jobs and hoping that the true career path would truly open and reveal to me what I was meant to be.

Turning Dreams into Reality

I will always look back to that day reminiscing and treasure the thought indeed.
They say if you want to realize your dreams then you must follow them and never give up until you reach that very destination realizing your ultimate goal.  It doesn’t matter how big or small that goal is. There is nothing more satisfying than to sit back and say I did it!  The positive feeling remains no matter what happens and it  is something that no one can take away from you.  It was your own creation.

While opportunities exist all around us, it is the ones that we pick and choose and grasp at.  The writing path will not be cut and ready for you.  You have to make that path your very own and stay on it.  Surely there will be other paths that may lead you astray and you may find yourself lost in a maze but if you stick with your true goals and dreams that you have always wanted, reality soon becomes the amazing results of following that dream and working to achive it.

The Writing Journey

The writing journey is a never ending one full of life’s experiences.  The one very special part of choosing a particular market to write for deserves its own space and attention.  I learned so much from writing for the confessions market.  Here are some of the following reasons why I especially liked writing for them and how I gained experience deepening and enhancing my writing skills.

Writing First Person Point of View

Creating characters and allowing their flaws, good traits and bad

Building suspense and plot twists

Enrichening a writing voice from first person point of view perspective

Tightening up stories with a faster pace yet savoring the ultimate theme and moral of the story

Writing Markets and Research

The Confessions’ market is just one of many in the writing market,  yet truly a treasured one giving its history of survival, its ups and downs just like that in true life.  To be able to be a part of that writing journey is truly a treasure.

To actually realize a childhood dream of writing for them is a dream come true and a reality.  One that I will surely treasure for the rest of my writing days!  Below is a collage of the magazines I sold stories to since 2013.

Look mom, I did it!  ;)

#ThursdayThoughts on Change....

Good Morning from Santa Fe, New Mexico!

If you've visited often you know I've embarked on a 2 month trek across the US to make a loop up the West Coast, around the Midwest and back down to Louisiana. Saturday I'll be spotlighting some highlights from our trip so be sure and drop by.

Meanwhile, let's talk a little about change.....

Some people thrive on change. Others hate it. Many, like me understand change is a part of life and just learn to go with the flow.

Not all change is -or appears - good: death of loved ones or loss of job or health. Though these are some of the worst types of changes we can go through, life goes on and so must we.

Other changes are good! New job, new relationship, new home, new (fill in the blank). We love these types of changes although many begin with a not-so-good one.

Then there are changes that surprise and please and hopefully open new doors for us. These are the types of changes I absolutely LOVE. One such change is with my novel The Inheritance (published 2007 from The Wild Rose Press). We all know the story of how TWRP evolved to White Rose Publishing and then Pelican Book Group - these were all good changes. Now there's one even better!

PBG is re-issuing The Inheritance sometime later this year. The book has been edited, updated, revised and has a brand new cover! Don't 'cha just LOVE it? I do! It's still the same story, only better and hopefully this change will turn out to be good for everyone involved and will garner new readers.

On the heels of this news and my receiving the galley which I'm currently working to get back to the editor so we can get an actual release date....anyway, my lovely cover artist and friend, Delia Latham of Heaven's Touch Designs surprised me with a brand new cover for my Tempered Series bundle (boxed set)..... I can't wait to replace the current one with this!

These two changes started me thinking....Even though we're told not to, many people judge a book by it's cover therefore, a not-so-good cover can make or break a book. My novel, Circles of Fate has gotten great reviews yet the sales reflect poorly. So, Delia and I put our heads together and came up with a brand new cover for it too!

I love how Delia depicted the main characters in this romantic saga so well! Hopefully, this fresh, new and exciting cover will be more attractive to readers. It is certainly eye-catching.

These are all good changes, but even good changes have drawbacks....in these instances, lot's of work replacing the old covers with new in all publishing venues AND in all marketing materials. Hopefully our hard work will pay off and readers will reap the benefits as well, by being entertained, their faith strengthened by the triumph of these characters.

Moral of this post: Whether expected, unexpected, good or not....life continually changes and evolves. So must we.

Something to think about!

#SaturdaySpotlight: #TheInheritance

Good Morning!

My guest today was unable to be here so I thought I'd spotlight one of my books for you so here goes....

The Inheritance is about the chance we all long for…the chance to start over. Widowed at age thirty-nine and suffering from empty nest syndrome, Rebecca Sinclair is overshadowed by grief and loneliness.  Her husband has been deceased for a year, her oldest child has moved to New York in pursuit of an acting career and her youngest child is attending college in France. Having spent over half of her life as a wife and mother, she has no idea what God has in store for her now.  Will an unexpected inheritance in the wine country of New York bring meaning and purpose to her life and give her the courage to love again?

US Postal worker Raymond Jacobey has been in love with the little widow since he first set eyes on her.  A wanderer searching for the ever-illusive soul mate, Ray has never stayed in one place too long. Raised by self-centered, high-power executives, he’s longed for the idyllic life of residing in a cozy house in a small town with the love of his life. Will he gain the heart of the lovely widow or will he lose her to the wine country of New York?

Excerpt: The icy New York weather matched the chill in Rebecca’s heart. Sitting at the kitchen table within the warmth of the cottage, she nursed a cup of coffee. She hadn’t talked to Raymond in over two weeks. Instead, she’d spent many a sleepless night plagued by doubt, insecurity and unanswered questions. She thought about him constantly, torn between calling and leaving him alone. Although many nights of tears followed by prayer and Bible reading helped her come to terms with what she’d learned about her husband, she still had no idea of what to do about Ray.

“Oh, God,” she murmured, feeling an overwhelming sense of loss and sorrow. “What now? What have I done? What am I going to do about Ray? I miss him so much.”

Closing her eyes, she swallowed the hard lump of emotion clogging her throat and let the tears come. She heard the rattle of the mailbox then a knock on the door.

Not wanting the letter carrier to see her in such distress, she waited until he left before getting up to see what he’d delivered. Lifting the envelopes out the box, she caught a whiff of fragrance. Turning them over, she saw why. Scented stickers covered the entire backside of every envelope.

“Oh,” she gasped, covering her lips with trembling fingers. Hope flared in her heart. With tears streaming down her cheeks, she looked around. “Ray?”

Saturday Spotlight - The Inheritance

Good Morning Friends!

It's that time of the week and month for a spotlight on one of my books! This time I chose, The Inheritance.

In many scriptures, the Bible tells us that we have an inheritance from the Lord. God tells us He has set us apart for an inheritance and that we are joint heirs with Christ!

Here's a sneak peek into The Inheritance.....

Read Chapter 1 HERE or enjoy the Excerpt below!

Rebecca let him lead her up the snow-covered bank until they stood in a clearing looking out to where heaven and earth met in a glorious profusion of rock and sky. Clouds surrounded mountain peaks like halos. A rainbow shimmered in the sky, brilliant colors against a backdrop of aqua so breathtaking they were literally gasping for air.

“It’s so beautiful,” she breathed. Ray slid his arms around her waist, and she leaned against his chest. He rested his chin on her head, and they stood in silence gazing at the raw beauty of creation until the damp chill permeated their clothes.

Running his hands down her arms in a warming caress, Ray took Rebecca’s hands in his then turned her to face him. She could see his heart in his eyes as he quoted Scripture. “The earth declares the glory of the Lord, the heavens proclaim His handiwork. That might not be an exact quote, but close enough. It is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with me.”

Rebecca’s heart fluttered at the charming, boyish grin he bestowed on her. She knew he’d spoken more than mere words; he’d spoken his heart. Tears filled her eyes and clogged her throat when she thought about what the future might hold. Standing on the threshold of that great unknown, she had never been more acutely aware of anything than she was of this moment, this man.

He was looking at her intently. His thumbs caressed the back of her hands, chasing the chill from her blood. Lethargic warmth stole over her. As though in a fog she watched him lift her hands to his mouth and press his lips to her palm in a caress so tender it sent shivers down her spine.

She lowered her gaze, and he lifted her chin with his finger and waited until she looked at him again. “I want to kiss you, Becca, here in the midst of Paradise,” he whispered, his lips covering hers with devastating tenderness.

Rebecca heard his primitive grunt of satisfaction when he let go of her hands and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer. An answering purr escaped her as tiny pinpoints of pleasure bathed her senses with light and color. Never in her life had she felt so alive, so consumed with sensations.

Whether a moment or an eternity, she had no idea how long they stood there, his mouth in sweet possession of hers. All she knew was that when the kiss was over she was plastered against his hard body, her breathing was sharp almost painful and her fists were clenched in his thick, sandy-colored hair. Appalled at her wanton response and the needy way in which she clung, Rebecca flung away with a startled cry of distress, and began to run.

The Inheritance is available now from Pelican Book Group/White Rose Publishing in Print & Ebook as well as on Kindle & Nook.

Clueless

Hey Friends,

I'm clueless as to what to blog about today so I just wanted to pop in and say "Hi" and how I pray BLESSINGS over each and every one of you and yours!

Today is St. Patrick's day - are you wearing green? :-)

Not a whole lot happening in my life/writing. Still keeping up the 3 articles a month for Associated Content and today picked up dictation for 1 local doctor - hopefully that'll work out well too. Promotion for PPS is going well and they've included my book The Inheritance in their Featured Author widget - check it out!

Oh, speaking of The Inheritance, check out my new banner!

Isn't it beautiful?

This banner will be up at LASR for 2 months beginning in April - I got blessed with a great deal for an ad there and the price included creating this - I love it!

Still unable to concentrate much on romance writing nor have I been as successful as I'd hoped in getting my books into libraries & setting up speaking engagments - felt like God called me to not do that or worry over that for now so....just spending a lot of time with HIM and trying to settle into some kind of routine at home.

Funny how the best thought-out plans seem to go awry....always something to distract - LOL!

Well that's about all on this end. Easter is barrelling down on us - hope you're all ready with lots of chocolate bunnies and colored eggs, but let's not forget the REAL reason for the Season - the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Speaking of which, check out the beautiful Easter Posts at White Roses in Bloom blog and the new releases from White Rose Publishing.

Until later....take care, be BLESSED and remember - God has set YOU apart for an Inheritance!

I Just LOVE Staying Home!

Hello Friends!

If you've followed me very long, you'll know that beginning Jan. 1, I embarked on a new venture - staying home.

Many factors played into this decision - the main one being the death of my beloved in August. The goal for this new venture was/is to move this whole writing business (writing, editing, promoting, speaking, book signings & sales, etc) into a new level but most importantly - take time to heal.

Last week I talked about settling in and gave an idea of where I stood in implementing my plan and hope to have a much better report by the end of this month.

Well, instead of waiting, I think I'll fill you in on what I actually accomplished up through yesterday 2/2 and see what you think.....

#1 - I signed up as a Business/Finance Contributor for Associated Content which requires 3 articles on the topic per month - Done for Jan!

#2 - Continued working with Premium Promotional Services as an Associate in helping others promote their books - took on 1 client's continuing promo pkg - took on 2 individual client pkgs - Completed 1 and will complete the other this week! The continuing pkg is for 6 months so....more on that later.

#3 - Started calling Louisiana Libraries in hopes of getting my books in each Parish - have contacted 14 - 1 bought 6 books (3 titles 2each)!!!

#4 - Started setting up speaking engagements - have 3 lined up - Feb 23, March 9 & Oct 9.

#5 - Started setting up book signings - 1 lined up for April - Attended one with a fellow author in Jan and sold a few books!

#6 - Though not finished yet, I've continued writing a short story I began last May for White Rose Publishing's Hearts Crossing contest - since the contest is over and the winner published - I've changed the name and certain elements of the story and will submit it to WRP once complete - only 2 scenes left (less than 2k words to go!)

#7 - Submitted an essay to Chicken Soup for an upcoming anthology on Grief & Recovery

#8- Collected all necessary info for taxes, sorted and prepared spreadsheets, prepared & filed Fed & State returns - also did this for my daughter.

#9 - Set up guest blog events - 1 in March, 1 in May along with eggcerpt exchanges with Tina Gayle on Feb 19th & March 10th and a couple more that I don't have dates for yet.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something LOL- but along with all of this, I've babysat one or both of my grandchildren at least 1 day each week I've been off (funny how that happens) :-)

I prepared a new flower arrangement for Terry's grave (combination Valentine's Day & Easter), kept my house cleaner than it's been in a while LOL and still managed to find time to visit with friends and family & get out of the house at least 1 day a week!

As for the healing part - today I can honestly say I believe healing has begun. My days still range between the good, the bad, and the ugly but the good are well ~ good, the bad aren't as bad, and the ugly just as agonizing but not as frequent.

So there you have it - They say working from home takes discipline & dedication and most folks work twice as hard as those with a regular job - I must say after nearly 5 weeks of this new venture I agree ~ But let me tell you - I LOVE staying home!

Until later...take care, Be Blessed & remember....Starting over or beginning a new venture after major life change (marriage, child birth or empty nest, death or divorce) takes Courage and Faith!

5-Stars for The Inheritance!

Hello Friends!

It's always great to receive a wonderful review of a book or short story, but when one is receiving 5 stars two years after publication, it is thrilling! This happened recently with The Inheritance.

Here's a snippet of the review posted at Amazon by reader & author, Laurean Brooks...... Ms. Thibodeaux portrays the strength of a couple united in love with the promise that two hearts bound together can conquer the world...in this riveting story of love and emotional healing.

Read the entire review here: http://www.amazon.com/Inheritance-Pamela-S-Thibodeaux/dp/1601540558/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243073332&sr=8-1

The Inheritance is available now in ebook and print! from White Rose Publishing.

Well Friends, just wanted to share. Drop by Saturday for our spotlight with Amber Leigh Williams and join me EVERY THURSDAY in June when special guest, Roni Adams shows up each week with one of her titles!

Until later.....take care, be BLESSED and remember....God has set YOU apart for an inheritance.

In Like a Lion ~ Out Like a Lamb

We've all heard that old saying about March....and that's exactly what's happened in my life.

The month blew in like a hurricane, two new releases (Winter Madness & Review of Love), two new acceptances (The Dog of My Heart & Dangling by a Fingertip), a sales blitz on The Inheritance!

On top of all this, after more than 6 weeks of pain, fear and trips to the emergency room, my husband has been diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. That's the bad news.

The GOOD news is: the condition is contained, it is non aggressive and the most easily cured. After his first treatment all of his test have come back GREAT and he's almost back to his old self ~ funny, happy, strong, positive. We are standing on the Name above all names ~Jesus~ His Blood and His Word that, this too shall pass and hubby will emerge the victor ~ healed and whole from the top of his head to the soles of his feet, fingertip to fingertip!

Please stand in agreement with us on this ~ Thanks Friends.

But the emotional rollercoaster and added responsibilties have left me exhausted (for lack of a better word) and in all honesty, I need to be writing and editing, not in a frenzy about blogging and networking.

As you know, my agent Les Stobbe is pitching my 2 complete WF novels, The Visionary & Circles of Fate as well as my gift/devotional book Love is a Rose.

You may not be aware that he is also pitching 2 novel proposals to Summerside for their Love Finds You line ~ this company buys on proposal which means I have 2 novels to write LOL!

So, I've decided to take a break and only blog once a week (instead of twice) in addition to the Saturday Spotlight (this week ~ Christy French) and to back off on hosting so many tours ~ only until I catch my breath and settle back into my routine.

I know you'll all understand and I THANK YOU for it.

Until later...Be BLESSED!

Get an autographed copy for only $8.95 + s/h!!
For details visit My Website OR Pertinent Promotions!

In addition, March is White Rose Month so ALL inspirational titles are on sale!
Here's a sneek peak @ Winter Madness!

Blurb: Sienna has survived what most succomb to - the death of a spouse and child and has maintained her faith despite her troubles. William has never met anyone who actually lived out what they say they believe. Is it true love between the faithful optimist and broody pessimist or simply winter madness?

Excerpt: They met on a cold winter morning in a cozy coffee shop. Not just the tinkle of the bell above the door announced his arrival, but also the quickening of her heart, the slow thud of blood through her veins, the sharp curl of need in the pit of her stomach. Even before she saw him, she knew the minute he’d walked in. A dream from her past.

He turned; their eyes met.

William’s eyes widened, and his breath caught. There she sat all soft and glowing. A ghost from his past. He hesitated, blew a soft rush of air to cool the steaming brew he’d just purchased. A sigh escaped followed by a resigned shrug. There was no way out of the meeting now. Only a few steps separated them physically, miles emotionally. One hurdle at a time, he thought, and joined her at the table for two beside the window.

Well that's about it for today. Until next time.....

Take care and Be Blessed!

There's Still Time to WIN!!

Hi Folks!

Just wanted to let you know there is still time to participate in The Wild Rose Press's Sony E-Reader contest! I'm not the only author participating in this contest - there are fifty of us!

Here's the cover & blurb for my TWRP titles.....

Best-selling novelist and songwriter, Camie Rogers has penned numerous accounts of the secret love she holds in her heart. Country-Music Superstar Kip Allen has changed from the shy, humble boy, to the epitome of “star.” Can the two rediscover each other after one night of his Home is where the Heart is Tour? Find out in Choices.

Single mom Cathy Johnson is tired of running her life alone…what she needs is a well-trained angel to help out. Jared Savoy gave up the dream of having a family when he discovered he is sterile. Can a confirmed bachelor and the mother of four find love amid normal daily chaos? Find out in Cathy’s Angel.

Anthony Paul Seville is known as the ‘most eligible bachelor’ in New Orleans, possibly even the entire state of Louisiana, but finds himself alone—completely and explicitly alone. Jessica Aucoin is a writer on her way to fame and fortune, but is haunted by a man from her past. Will the “champion” lawyer and the author of romantic suspense find love written in their future? Find out in A Hero for Jessica.

If you've already purchased my titles I THANK YOU!
If not, now's a GREAT time to do so because for every purchase, you're entered to win!!!.
And don't forget, March 11, 2009 I'll have another TWRP release, Winter Madness.
Unitl later take care, God Bless and remember.....Jesus is the reason for every season.

Sony Ebook Store!

If you read my post on the Sony E-Reader contest that The Wild Rose Press holds, you'll see that I am one of the participating authors for the contest.

Well, have I got news for you!

Sony has an Ebook store and TWRP's full-length titles are available there - which means The Inheritance!

Yeah, isn't that amazing? Now, people who buy an E-Reader can purchase books straight from Sony.

The Inheritance is also available from Amazon Kindle.

This is great news for E-Authors and publishers.

Just goes to show that what people first thought a fad is now a thriving business.

Amazing.

Don't forget, Friday TWRP authors will be on the SRR Authors and Readers yahoo loop so c'mon by and check out the blurbs and excerpts. Who knows, you just may find a few books for the readers on your Christmas list and it's NEVER too early to shop!

Also, Saturday Spotlight this week will be Rose Zediker, and her book, Through the Eyes of Love, so c'mon back!

Until later....Take Care, GOD BLESS and remember...God has set YOU apart for an Inheritance!
