#SaturdaySpotlight is on....Me and my upcoming release!

Good Morning Friends,

My scheduled guest couldn't make it today so I'm taking advantage of the rare opportunity to showcase one of my own books, only this one isn't out yet.

In fact, it's not even up for pre-order.

However, I recently received the cover and I wanted to share it with you!

Love in Season is a collection of short romantic stories from Pelican Book Group. It contains 5 previously published stories (Cathy's Angel, Choices, A Hero for Jessica, Winter Madness & In His Sight), Review of Love (which was a free read through PBG but has been edited and expanded AND 2 brand new, never before published stories!

The Big Catch is about a couple who've found some uncommon ground....Fishing! Jeffery loves to be out on the water, casting a line and reeling in a keeper. Karla loves the outdoors and being on the water but just can't seem to muster enthusiasm for the sport. Will their separate views cause a backlash in their relationship?

After a few short years Sandi and Brett have succumbed to the pressure of trying to build a marriage on a relationship that began outside of God's will and competes with Brett's love of football. Can these two grow into the people God created them to be and have a successful life together? Find out in Lilies for Sandi.

I look forward to sharing more about this upcoming collection in the future, but for now, THANKS for stopping by! I hope you'll continue to check back for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.

Until next time take care and God bless.

Saturday Spotlight - In His Sight

Good Morning Friends!

Yep, it's that time of the month again - time when I spotlight one of my own titles for your reading pleasure. This month I'd like to share with you my first (and so far only) romantic suspenseThis book started out as an entry into White Rose Publishing's "Hearts Crossing" contest back in 2009. The original title was to be named after the setting of "Hearts Crossing, TN" a fictional town near Nashville.

However, since I was unable to finish the story in time to submit to the contest, I subsequently changed the setting to "Stars Crossing, TN" and the title underwent several transitions until we settled on In His Sight.

Now I don't normally write romantic suspense, in fact, I had absolutely no idea how to do so but when the editor suggested we revise the story to focus on the suspense element that had sneaked into the plot, I readily agreed. I still don't know if I could put together another suspense, but hope to sometime in the future. IMW, please enjoy this sneak peek into In His Sight.....

Grade school teacher Carson Alexander has a gift—a gift that has driven a wedge between him and his family. Worse, it’s put him at odds with God. Feeling alone and misunderstood, Carson views God’s gift of prophecy as the worst kind of curse…that is until he meets Lorelei Conner, landscape artist extraordinaire, and perhaps the one person who may need Carson and his gift more than anyone ever has.

Lorelei Connor is a mother on the run. Her abusive ex-husband has followed her all over the country trying to steal their daughter. Distrusting of men and needing to keep on the move, she’s surprised by her desire to remain close to Carson Alexander. Through her fear and hesitation, she must learn to rely on God to guide her—not an easy task when He’s prompting her to trust a man.

Can their relationship withstand the tragedy lurking on the horizon?

 EXCERPT.....

Carson Alexander walked through his classroom and tugged desks into a semi circle around the dry eraser board. One thing he loved about teaching sixth-grade English at Stars Crossing Middle School was that the classes were so small. With no more than fifteen students at a time he could work closely with each one and give them the attention they needed and deserved. Another thing he appreciated was the lack of standard or strict curriculum. As long as the children passed the exams set forth by the Department of Education, he could teach as he pleased.

So far, his kids excelled, maintaining some of the highest scores in the entire school. Pride filled his soul and caused his heart to swell, chest to puff out.

Pride cometh before the fall.

The Voice echoed in his mind, ricocheted through his soul. He shrugged off the warning, walked to his desk and picked up the name tags for each incoming student. He thumbed through the stack, pondered each one and wondered about the child attached to the name….Jenny & Jerry Smith – twins or un-related? One name struck him hard, sent unnamed emotion curling through his system – Laurel Connor.

He hadn’t heard the name Laurel in years and then, used only as a surname or when referring to the small town in Mississippi from whence he came. He moved to Stars Crossing, Tennessee five years ago for two reasons. One, the teaching position and two, the town though smaller, reminded him of home.

Memories crashed through the floodgates he’d built around his heart…..the huge two-story house and two-hundred acre farm where he grew up. His seven siblings, parents who adored him – their eldest son, and the pain of losing everything he held near and dear to his heart.

Tears threatened. His vision blurred, hands began to shake. Carson swallowed the lump in his throat, put the stack down, and shoved his hands into the front pockets of his slacks. Adrenaline pumped through him, caused his pulse to skitter and jump. Saliva pooled in his mouth. By sheer force he willed his emotions under control. The bell rang and he turned to greet the children who rushed into the room. He watched as one-by-one they filed in and took a seat.

In His Sight can be purchased directly through Pelican Book Group/White Rose Publishing, Kindle or Nook!

Well friends, hope you enjoyed this spotlight. Stay tuned next week for more Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and of course another edition of Saturday Spotlight!

Spiritual Power

My Tuesday Treasure post on Nora Robert’s trilogy that depicts modern day witches and their craft, started me thinking about spiritual power and how easily available it may be to access.

Acts 10:38 tells us that “God anointed Jesus Christ with the Holy Ghost and with power...”

I'm not going to get into semantics here. The subject of Holy Ghost (or spiritual) power available to us is controversial in even the most devout Christian groups. But what I do want to talk about is the fact that this power is all around us, and how everyone has the ability to tap into that power and to create their world.

In fact, I believe we do.

In recent years a new emphasis has been put on spiritual and physical laws of the universe, mainly the law of attraction, which I believe is referred to in the bible.

Job 4:8 states, “Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity and sow wickedness, reap the same.”

Romans 10:10 says, For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”  Now I understand this particular scripture is referring to believing and confessing Jesus as Lord, but follow me here for just a minute.

The Law of Attraction states, “Like attracts like.”

Therefore, if you are constantly speaking, feeling and projecting negativity, you will attract those things and circumstances back to you—in other words, you will reap what you sow.

I have heard many preachers and teachers of God’s word say that if you want what God has, you have to say what God says. In other words, quote scripture (Romans 10:17).  We are even taught…. Let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich.

Dr. Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, and numerous other spiritual leaders of our time tell us over and over that if we want to change our lives, we have to change our thoughts and our words.

Couldn’t this be a practical example of the spiritual power available to us – the power to change our lives and ultimately the world we live in?

Something to think about!

PS: speaking of spiritual power - my book, In His Sight deals with the power (or gift) of psychic ability. Check it out!

On the go Again!

Hey Friends,

By the time you read this I'll either be in the air or on the ground in Seattle, WA visiting with my children/grandchild for a week. Been home from Bandera for a week today and have been busy, busy, busy as usual LOL ~ But I sure do miss my friends at the Silver Spur! I'm definitely looking forward to going back to the ranch from time-to-time.

Update on The Visionary: I recieved my "fully executed contract" and advance check - a first for me and I'm so excited and grateful to our Lord for this opportunity! We have a tentative release date of November 2011! Filled out some information on the manuscript Five Star needed and am awaiting edits. I'll keep you all posted as things progress.

In His Sight seems to be doing well, receiving good reviews and for that I'm equally grateful. Get your copy today from White Rose Publishing.

God is graciously opening some doors for me that seem to be leading to an exciting future...if I can keep walking forward from the past.....Grief sucks! Sorry for the bluntness here but can't think of a nicer way to say this - some days are still agonizing to get through but by HIS grace, I do. I keep hearing Terry's voice...."Now stop your crying." He had a certain tone he used when he said that and it's comforting to know he is still with me, watching over me and that he still supports me as he always did....pushing me to pull myself up by the bootstraps and keep on, keeping on. Sometimes I feel like my life is a reflection of a Country song ... How DO I live without him? and yet... So lucky to have had the chance to love this much.

Oh well, we all have things we identify with to try and make sense of the senseless events in our lives.

Guess that's about all for now Friends, be sure and drop by Saturday for our spotlight on Rebecca J Vickery with another of her books!

Until later...take care & be Blessed!

In His Sight

Hello Friends!

Today I'm taking the spotlight for myself to tell you about my newest short story ebook, In His Sight which releases from White Rose Publishing on Friday (July 23rd!).

Excerpt: Lorelei Connor scoured the atlas on the coffee table. Her eyes searched far from the small town where she resided. The tick of the clock on the mantle above the fireplace reminded her time had run out.

Fear crawled up her spine.

They had lived in one place for too long. It was time to move on.

She closed her eyes, placed the red marker over the state of Tennessee and let the Lord lead her hand. She gazed down at the circle just southeast of Nashville. Stars Crossing. The name leapt out. She did a quick search on the Internet for specifics and clicked on the “Real Estate” link to verify available housing. A note on the page caught her eye. Handyman needed for maintenance and minor repairs of properties owned by agency. Emailed resumes accepted. Her soul danced in excitement.

She picked up the laptop and rushed into her daughter’s room. “Laurel, I know where we’re going!”

Her child groaned and buried her face in a pillow. “Not again, Mom. Where to now?”

Lorelei climbed on the bed and elbowed her daughter in a gentle gesture. “Look at this little town in Tennessee I’ve discovered.”

Laurel sat up and glanced at the screen. “Stars Crossing? Who ever heard of Stars Crossing, Tennessee? Stupid name if you ask me. You promised we’d stay here for a while.”

Despondency colored her tone and made Lorelei’s heart ache. “This time for good, no more moving, you’ll see.”

“Yeah, like I haven’t heard that before.”

Lorelei closed the laptop and crawled off the bed with a sigh. Weariness dragged at her. She understood how Laurel felt. She, too, despaired of the constant moving. Maybe this time she’d find the peace she craved and a quiet, unhurried lifestyle where she felt safe.

“Pack up your things.”

She returned to the living room and emailed her resume to the real estate agency. Two days later she and Laurel hit the road, everything they owned in the backseat and trunk of her car.

Five days after leaving Wyoming, they arrived in Stars Crossing, Tennessee. Within hours Lorelei had a place to live, a job, and Laurel was registered for school.

Another Ranch Update!

Hello Again from the Silver Spur Guest Ranch in Bandera, TX!

Summer is moving right along here at the ranch, much as everywhere else. I'm working a few more hourse than last month so I'm online less frequently. But I do take time out to enjoy the scenery. Seeing wildlife is a regular occurance out here, especially when I'm able to take my morning walk (on those days I don't have to clock in at 7:30 LOL). It is not uncommon to come across a jackrabbit or deer.

My BFF Jerrie came up for a couple of days last week and we drove to San Antoniono and into Boerne (pronounced bernie) and generally just spent quality time as friends who don't get to visit as much as they'd like do.

This week was especially fun since I got to go into San Antonio a couple of times and visit with my son who was heading up a NDA dance camp for area Junior High & High Schools. In fact, that's one of the reasons this post is so late getting up today, I left early this morning and had lunch with him and some of the NDA staff girls then came back to the ranch.
In a couple of weeks, another friend, Julie, will come up and my job here ends on Aug 2 or 3. Which is fine...I'm so ready to go home LOL!

Speaking of home, I will be there next week for Karson's surgery on the 22nd - IF all goes well and he actually has it.

Oh and, I received some GOOD news last week!

Five Star Expressions is sending me a contract for The Visionary! I'll post details as I get them.

Also, in case you've forgotten, In His Sight releases on July 23rd from White Rose Publishing.

Well, that's about all friends, just wanted to pop in and say HELLO and fill you in on what's happening in my world.

Be sure and stay tuned for more New Releases from White Rose Publishing and of course, our regular feature, Saturday Spotlight.

Until later....take care & be blessed!
