#SaturdaySpotlight is on Clare Revell @ClareRevell & her "Say a Prayer" series!

Good Morning!

Well, another month has passed and there is still no reprieve in sight with Covid-19 nor the civil unrest. I. Am. SO. T-I-R-E-D of the negativity....and that's all I've got to say about that!

Today's guest is no stranger to our blog. Clare Revell has been here numerous times with many of her books and let me tell you, folks, there are a ton of them! This lady cranks them out quicker than anyone I know! And they are all excellent stories.

This time Clare is sharing with us her brand new series, released entirely last month. Take it away Clare....

DC Zander Ellery isn't sure which he dislikes the most: New partners, rookie female officers, or cases he can't solve. Right now he has all three.

DC Isabel York is fresh out of uniform and out of the proverbial frying pan into the fire as her personal and professional lives clash with her first case—ten stolen works of art.

When a postcard arrives addressed to Isabel with a cryptic message on it, it's just the beginning. The mystery deepens as the first of the stolen paintings is found alongside a dead body—bound and gagged and left posed in prayer at the place depicted in the postcard.

Are nine more murders coming? Can Zander and Isabel find the missing paintings and solve the murder before another victim falls?

As the body count increases and more paintings are recovered, DC Zander Ellery and his partner DC Isabel York are under increasing pressure to catch the killer the press have dubbed the Prayer Slayer.

A few tenuous links are all they have between the deaths of three young, pretty women. The new Chief Superintendent is only adding to the pressure and seems to be picking on Isabel more than any other officer.

Torn between his urge to protect his partner and his need to solve the case, Zander sits his sergeant's exams, hoping once they are over, he won't be so distracted. But a rocky relationship with his girlfriend and one more murder only adds to his stress.

With trouble on the streets, DS Zander Ellery is under even more pressure to solve the case of the Prayer Slayer.

His partner DC Isabel York is convinced she is being targeted, as all the postcards the Slayer sends are addressed only to her.

With Zander and Isabel pulled in different directions, the body count escalates, until the case explodes in a direction no one could foresee—Something that will test everyone to the limits of their experience and faith.

Just when things couldn't get much worse, they suddenly do. With DS Zander Ellery in jail, his partner DC Isabel York fights to clear his name. Not an easy task when she is suspended from duty and the evidence against him is compelling.

Finally, pieces begin to fall into place, but to catch the Prayer Slayer once and for all, both officers must walk down a dark path where their very souls are at risk of being taken.

Clare is a British author. She lives in a small town just outside Reading, England with her husband, whom she married in 1992, their three children, and unfriendly mini-panther, aka Tilly the black cat. Clare is half English and half Welsh, which makes watching rugby interesting at times as it doesn’t matter who wins.

Writing from an early childhood and encouraged by her teachers, she graduated from rewriting fairy stories through fan fiction to using her own original characters and enjoys writing an eclectic mix of romance, crime fiction and children's stories. When she's not writing, she can be found reading, crocheting or doing the many piles of laundry the occupants of her house manage to make.

Her books are based in the UK, with a couple of exceptions, thus, although the spelling may be American in some of them, the books contain British language and terminology and the more recent ones are written in UK English.

The first draft of every novel is hand written.

She has been a Christian for more than half her life. She goes to Carey Baptist where she is one of four registrars.

#ThursdayThoughts: Guest post by Lillian Duncan

Good Morning,

Today we welcome Lillian Duncan back to our blog with something to think about....

The Faith of a Child
(cdndloven)

“I just came across this verse, Pink. Made me think of you. Want to hear it?”
          Not really. “Sure.”
“In Matthew it says unless you become like children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
“Yeah, I’ve heard that one before.”
“But what do you think it means?” His voice was insistent.
She leaned against the door, suddenly so tired she could barely stand. “I don’t know. What do you think it means?”
“It’s all about trust and faith. The kind children have. Especially the kind they have at Christmas. Think about it—kids just believe in Santa because their parents tell them he exists. Even though it makes no sense, they believe.”
Zoe slid down to the floor with her back against the door. “And you want me to have that kind of faith in you?”
          “Not in me. In God.”

The above is a short excerpt from NO Home For The Holidays, my new Christmas-themed novella. In it, Chloe Sullivan needs a miracle but has given up on getting it. Ex-FBI turned preacher, Colton Douglas believes no miracle is too hard for God.

He has the faith of a child and he wants Chloe to have the same.

When we were children, we accepted the myth without question that Santa flies around the world, leaves gifts for every child, and even takes a moment to eat a bite or two of the cookies we left out. Our logical minds told us that it was impossible, but that was the magic of Christmas.

Faith comes easy when we’re children. Not so easy as adults. Our adult mind tells us:

Jesus couldn’t be the Son of God born of a virgin—that’s where faith comes in.
Heaven sounds too good to be true—that’s where faith comes in.
God couldn’t really love us after all we’ve done—that’s where faith comes in.

I can admit that sometimes my teeny-tiny human mind has difficulty comprehending such amazing concepts as heaven or forever or unconditional love. But I don’t need to understand it to believe it, just as I don’t need to understand electricity to believe in or to use it.

So this Christmas season close those adult eyes. Instead, look at Christmas through the eyes of a child—through eyes of faith. And be amazed at God’s love for each of us.
Be amazed by the miracle we call Christmas.

#TuesdayTreasure: Special Guest post and Contest by Lillian Duncan

Good Morning!

It is with great pleasure I bring you today's guest. Lillian Duncan is a fellow Pelican Book Group author and she is sharing with us something she treasures!

CELEBRATE!

My latest release is No Home For The Holidays, a Christmas-themed romantic suspense novella. Christmas and suspense? I love the challenge of finding a way to mix the two together. The gist of the story is about a “prodigal daughter” who wants to go home but knows she will put her family in danger as well as herself if she does.

In the story, Chloe is downright grinchy. Christmas reminds her of home and since she can’t go home, she refuses to acknowledge or celebrate Christmas in any way. I wonder how many of us do the same thing.

I’ve got no kids so why put up a tree?
I’m alone now, so what’s the point of decorating?
It’s too much work.
I’m so busy.

Mmmm….Do any of those excuses sound familiar?

There’s nothing like a serious health crisis to teach us to appreciate life!  It started on April Fool’s Day in 2012 when I developed Bell’s palsy (an inflammation of the facial nerves). An MRI brought even more shocking news—bilateral brain tumors and a diagnosis of NF2, a genetic disorder.  It continues still today.

How it will end? Only God knows. It’s been a long and difficult journey, but God has taught me much. And one of those nuggets of wisdom is to celebrate life!

For the past several years, we’d cleared off our enclosed porch and filled it with Christmas trees--lots of them!  It's just for fun and just for us--no grandbabies around to enjoy it.  But when I started experience side effects from my second brain tumor treatment in 2013 much earlier than expected, we decided to forego the Christmas Porch.  Too much work and I didn't feel well enough to help.

But one morning I woke up to a porch full of Christmas trees, thanks to my sweet husband.  I can’t tell you how much joy I got from just seeing the Christmas Trees every time I walked past them.  And it taught me a lesson, life is worth celebrating, especially at Christmas. Last year there wasn’t even a question. The trees were going up!

At this time of the year, we have so much to celebrate--the birth of a babe in a lowly manger. A birth that changed the world! A birth that brought heaven to earth! It’s a time of the year when we should all be celebrating, no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in.

We’re celebrating the birth of Jesus, our king, our savior!

You're right, Lillian...the gift of LIFE is definitely something to treasure!

#TuesdayTreasure: Guest Post by Coleen Coble!

Good Morning Friends and Welcome to the last Tuesday Treasure of June 2015!

Hard to believe, right?

Last week I told you I was going to Pigeon Forge, TN to watch my granddaughter dance in a national competition...well they got Platinum and we had a wonderful time! I'll share photos and notes later but today I have a very special guest post for you from multi-published, award winning author Coleen Coble!

Enjoy...

One thing I treasure above all else is relationship. That applies to family and to friends who are as close as family. Sometimes those relationships can be challenging, but they are always worth the work it takes to stay close.

I wrote The Inn at Ocean’s Edge while dealing with my sister-of-the-heart’s approaching death from ovarian cancer. Diann Hunt was like a sister to me in every way. I walked a steep and shadowy road with her, but every minute spent in her presence was a joy. She taught me so much about how to seize every bit of joy from every day. She showed me how to face death with courage and faith. I wanted to explore how God gives us people in our lives to fill in what we lack. Diann was a person like that for me. I never had a sister and wanted one when I was growing up. Di became my sister in every sense of the word.

Her passing left a huge hole in my life, but it also encouraged me to look for things of eternal value. Does a friend need an encouraging word today? Take the time to give it. Does my mother need lunch out? Stop writing for an hour and a half and go spend it. I might not get the chance tomorrow.

I love how God sees what we need in our lives and sends it our way if we take the time to look. That woman in the pew in front of me might become the sister I need. That older gentleman with a cane might have a story to tell that will encourage me today. Or my story might encourage him. We are all connected but we have to take the time to see!

God promises in Psalm 68:6 He will place the lonely in families, and in The Inn at Ocean’s Edge (Thomas Nelson/April 14, 2015/ISBN: 978-1401690267/$15.99), author Colleen Coble paints a picture for readers of how comfort, acceptance and love can come from the most surprising sources and in the most dire of circumstances.

In the first installment in the new Sunset Cove series, Coble introduces us to Claire Dellamore, who — at first glance — seems to have lived an idyllic life. Even to Claire, her childhood seemed like a fairytale, and a vacation to Sunset Cove is her way of thanking her parents.

The minute she steps inside the grand Inn at Ocean’s Edge, Claire Dellamare knows something terrible happened there.

The Inn at Ocean's Edge can be purchased at Amazon in Hardcover, Paperback, for Kindle, at Audible and on MP3CD!

Well Friends, hope you enjoyed this special treasure. Check back weekly for Thursday Thoughts, Saturday Spotlight and of course Tuesday Treasures!

Until next time take care & God Bless!

Tuesday Treasures: Guest Post by Jayne E Self!

Good Morning Friends,

It is with great pleasure I  bring you this Tuesday Treasure from my friend and fellow author, Jayne E Self...

I loved Jacque Cousteau’s TV Specials. As a kid growing up in central Canada the seemingly infinite mysteries of the ocean mesmerized me. I dreamed of becoming an oceanographer. I read, studied, memorized. And then I got on a boat.

I quickly discovered a degree of motion sickness that trains, planes or automobiles cannot begin to engender.

In His graciousness, however God has satisfied my passion for the sea with the seashore. I have summered by the ocean, even lived by the ocean, and its ever-changing nature still beckons me.

I think that’s because, for me, the ocean is a metaphor of God. It is infinite, boundless, gentle, and frighteningly powerful—all at the same time.

With each wave it shifts sandbars, tumbles rocks, and reshapes the land. It washes away and deposits anew. Shells, driftwood, seaglass—treasures lost become treasures found.

The rhythm of the waves echo the prayers of my heart. And as I walk along the shore, no matter the weather or the season, I can always hear His voice.

Jayne E. Self lives in Ontario, Canada. Her mysteries, Murder in Hum Harbour (2011) and Death of a Highland Heavyweight (2012) have both won Word Awards—Canada’s largest Christian writing awards.
