#TeaserTuesday Presents: Chester County Couples series by Karen Malley

Hello and Welcome to this First edition of Teaser Tuesday.

This is a new feature here on our blog and I am SO happy to bring Karen Malley back to you with her Chester County Couple series - which includes a sneak peek into book #3, Love in a Lifeboat which releases Sept. 5th!

THANKS, Karen, for being our guest today. Please tell us more about this series...

Thanks so much for hosting me! I’m excited to share my Chester County Couples series with you today. There are three books and a short prequel.

I wrote this series because I love to write about people who are trying to grow closer to God or to find their way to God. They’re characters with very real struggles and questions and aren’t afraid to be honest with God.

The series is set in Chester County, Pennsylvania, although as the series continues, some characters travel to more exotic locations! The books follow the stories of four separate couples, so can be read as standalones, but the characters continue throughout each of the books.

If you’d like to read more of my writing, I send a free short-story devotional every Sunday. You can sign up for my mailing list at www.karenmalley.com, or by downloading the free prequel. In addition to the free devotional, you’ll learn more about me, my writing journey, and be the first to learn about sales or giveaways.

Book 1, the prequel, Lilacs and Love Letters is free! Get it HERE.

All Jamie wants is to get through her senior year of college and be accepted into medical school. She doesn’ t have time for the arrogant rich freshman who started attending her Bible study group, no matter how handsome he is.

Will Tarrington is used to getting his own way. After all, he does come from one of the most prominent families on the Main Line. But after a terrible tragedy, his world is shaken and he heads to college searching for an escape. When he finds himself at a Christian campus group, he just might find the peace and hope he’s searching for, all starting with Jamie, the beautiful girl with the angelic voice.

Beth Tarrington has it all: a gorgeous fiancé, a lucrative career, the latest model car, and a high-priced condo. On top of that, the Tarrington name opens every door in town. So why is she so discontent? When everything falls apart in Beth’s life, will she finally find the strength to stand on her own two feet? Is God really willing to stand by her side, even after she’s ignored Him for so long?

When Jason Brooks meets Beth, his head tells him to run in the opposite direction. Beth is a high-society snob engaged to another man, and he’s not sure where she stands with God. So why does God keep bringing the two of them together?

Can these two find love, in spite of everything that stands in their way?

Excerpt: The air whooshed out of Beth’s lungs. What was she thinking? She didn’t belong here. She couldn’t do the reading in front of Jason. What if her family found out she was reading lines with the magician?

Jason watched the expressions play out over her face. “Come on, the role of a countess sounds perfect for a Tarrington.”

Beth’s head jolted in his direction. “What did you say?”

“You heard me. The role sounds perfect for you.”

“How did you know I’m a Tarrington?” So much for anonymity.

“The birthday party over the weekend. Will told me you’re his sister.”

“Why were you and Will talking about me?”

“We’ve been friends since college. I asked him about the beautiful woman with the carnation hidden in her hair. Come on, now. We wouldn’t want to keep Daria waiting.”

Beth stood frozen to the spot, processing Jason’s words, but the only thing she could focus on was the fact he said she was beautiful. She turned to find Jason waiting for her, and willed her legs to follow him.

After losing both her parents and her husband, Erin is determined to make a good life for herself and her young son. She starts a catering business with the help of her marketing wiz housemate, never dreaming she’ll ever find love again.

Everyone loves Rusty — as a friend. He’s quick with a joke and a helping hand. If only he could find his way out of the friend zone. The only thing he cares about more than Erin’s food is Erin herself. When Erin finds herself in a dangerous situation, it’s Rusty who comes to her aid on more than one occasion.

In this second book of the Chester County Couples series, follow Erin and Rusty through a near-death experience, a surprising secret from Erin’s parents’ past, a trip across the country, and more.

Excerpt: Erin set down her tea and climbed back up to reconnect the smoke alarm. “I can imagine David looking down from heaven, scolding me for leaving the smoke alarm disconnected. The first thing he did when we moved in here was put a smoke detector in every room.” She returned to the table.

“And then you lost him in a fire anyway,” Beth said.

“Yes, but he knew the risks.”

“Do you ever think about what life would be like if he hadn’t gone back into the fire to rescue that third person?”

“Of course. I still think about him every day. It’s not as hard anymore, but I’ll always miss him.” Erin stared down at her mug. Sometimes I get mad he gave his life for that unknown stranger, but then I remember that’s what made him the man I loved. He always put others first. That’s the life of a firefighter. He was good at what he did. I lost track of how many people are alive today because of him. I wish he was one of them.”

“He’d be so proud of you with your business.”

Erin swallowed against the lump in her throat. “Do you think so? I’m not feeling especially proud today.”

Jan Richardson doesn’t need anyone—especially not God. She’s built a successful career all on her own, and that’s enough. So what if everyone around her is in love? She’s smart, successful, and just earned a two-week cruise to prove it. The only problem? Kyle Richardson, her arrogant coworker and biggest competition for a promotion, is on the same cruise.

Kyle Richardson has dated lots of girls, but none of the relationships lasted. He’s found his way back to God and he’s looking for forever. When his job sends him on a cruise with the girl who shares his last name, sparks fly. But with his dating history and her insecurities, is there any chance for them to sail away to happiness?

Since this is a Teaser Tuesday post, enjoy a Sneak Peek into Love in a Lifeboat...

Excerpt: Jan couldn’t keep the excitement from bubbling up inside her. “You won’t believe what happened.”

“Well, don’t leave me hanging. Tell me.”

“Addison-McCann landed a huge account with the King Star Cruise Line. They held a contest to design their new logo and branding concepts. The two people with the best concepts won free tickets to a 14-day cruise. They believe their marketers need to experience the cruise line for themselves in order to truly capture their brand.”

“And you’re calling me because you won, right? That’s so exciting!” Beth squealed.

Jan couldn’t help the flutter in her stomach. “It really is.”

“You must be so proud. I always knew you were one of the best in the business. I’m glad the King Star folks recognized you for the talent you are. Who else won?”

Jan frowned. “Kyle Richardson. Of all the bad luck.”

“Oh, come on. He seems like a decent guy.”

“He’s a player.”

Now please tell us more about yourself and how we can connect with you.

Karen Malley writes Christian fiction with heart, humor, and just enough plot twists to keep you guessing. But don’t worry—she promises a happy ending. By day, she’s a scientist solving real-world problems; on weekends she writes about fictional ones. When she’s not dreaming up new ways to make her characters’ lives interesting, Karen enjoys hiking, reading, and baking things that miraculously don’t turn into science experiments.

A proud left-hander, Karen lives in Pennsylvania with her amazing husband and two sons, all of whom tolerate her habit of narrating life as if it were a novel. A lover of Jesus, peanut butter, and board game nights, Karen believes the best stories are the ones full of hope, faith, and happily-ever-afters.

Thanks so much for having me, Pam. We had a little glitch with the price of Recipes and Redemption so it’s not yet on sale, but hopefully will be soon. Moonlight and Mystery is only 99 cents, though!
