#SaturdaySpotlight is on Kisses, Kids and Bundles of Joy: 7 Christian Winter Romances!

Good Morning!

Well, I'm on the road again. Headed back to Louisiana after a much-needed week in Bandera and what better way than to celebrate with a collection of 7 Christian Winter Romances by 7 wonderful authors, only 1 of which has been featured here before!

Snuggle up with seven brand new, never before published Christian winter romances from bestselling and award-winning authors. Kisses and kids abound in this collection of novellas that will warm your heart all winter long.

One Winter Kiss - Lindi Peterson - Deena Ross travels to Ohio to try and sway her grandfather from making a big mistake, a mistake his neighbor Andrew has been encouraging. When a winter storm hits, and Deena is forced to stay with Andrew and his young son, Evan, Deena's vision of love is tested and she might lose her heart in one winter kiss.

Childish Ways - Jenn Faulk - Kevin Peterson, a teacher at a small town elementary school, is unexpectedly reunited with Lisa Walker, a girl who spent most of their childhood tormenting and bullying him, when she comes back to town where she helps organize a winter carnival to benefit her niece's school. Lisa has no idea who he is, though, and as they work alongside one another and Kevin sees how much she has changed, he begins to question whether or not he can really trust her and let her into his life.

The Baby & the Bachelor - Cindy K. Green - Playboy bachelor, Alec, discovers a baby on his doorstep only days away from being appointed to a political office, prompting him to appeal his assistant, Jane, for help. Misunderstandings and accusations from the press abound, leading Alec to wonder, even if he were prepared for a ready-made family, could sweet, church-going Jane ever find it in her heart to marry a sinner like him?

For Tracy - Trisha Grace - One phone call led to Sarah Carter becoming the guardian of her favorite student, Tracy, while waiting for Tracy’s Uncle Keith to show up. But Sarah has no idea Uncle Keith was Keith Sutton, Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, and doesn’t realize how much trouble she is heading for.

Tropical Kiss Or Miss - Liwen Y. Ho - Therapist Olivia Chan can’t wait to escape it all—a failed marriage, a struggling practice, and her son’s recent health scare. The Hawaiian getaway she planned, however, gets rained on—quite literally—by a tropical storm and the unexpected arrival of her estranged husband Matthew, who’s determined to win her back.

To Gain a Mommy - Tanya Eavenson - When Hope Michaels decides to face her past, she unknowingly purchases the house across the street from her former fiancĂ©—the man her twin sister married, then widowed. Fire Captain Carl McGuire can put out any flame, except for the one Hope sparks within him—some things never change.

Foolish Heart - Cindy Flores Martinez - Judy and Graham have feelings for each other, but they won’t admit it. After all, she lives in America and he lives in Scotland with his daughter, Mairi, who he could never leave to be with the woman he loves.

Oh wow....sounds like the perfect collection to cuddle up with on a cold, winter day. Get your copy of Kisses, Kids and Bundles of Joy at Amazon, Kobo and I-Tunes.

#ThursdayThoughts with Jamila Battle, MD

Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving!

I pray your day is blessed and whatever you do to celebrate this weekend is fun, safe and happy!

Today's guest is new to me and new to our blog.

Dr. Jamila Battle's heroic journey from debilitating childhood violence and abuse to attending some of the finest institutions in our country and becoming a renowned physician is nothing short of miraculous. Her tenacious perseverance has been marked by depression and breakdown, yet she still rose to triumph, and created a narrative to guide those who wish to take control of their own destiny.

Dr. Battle, is an award winning triple board certified physician, author, speaker and creator of "Reboot, Repair, Rebirth®". This innovative model aids those who are suffering to forgive themselves, so they can become fully integrated and capable of self-love. Reboot your soul by speaking your truth and ending the isolation. Repair by getting help and consciously healing your mind, heart and body. Celebrate your Rebirth as a wiser, loving and centered being. Live life abundantly. Visit www.drjbattle.com to learn more.

Now that we've met Jamila, let's see what thoughts she's sharing with us today....

Did you know that Trauma creates small thinking, fear, denial, and apathy?

As you know, there are so many myths about abuse and addiction that are simply not true. From my own experiences, I have learned that even after enduring abuse and overcoming addiction, we can still experience a life of abundance.

I am Dr. Jamila Battle. I am an award-winning physician, triple board certified in sleep, addiction and family medicine. I am also a consultant and speaker, but most importantly, I am your Abuse to Abundance Authority, and I’m excited to introduce you to Reboot, Repair, Rebirth.

I have a few questions for you:
Have you been wounded by the Pain of your past?
Have you been abused physically, mentally or emotionally?
Have you experienced or overcome an addiction of any type?

OK, chances are you answered yes to at least one of those question. So now I just want to know:
Would you like to wake up and realize that you are walking and living in purpose, without being haunted by your past?

IF SO,

Reboot Repair Rebirth can help you.

Reboot Repair Rebirth teaches those who are suffering in silence how to turn their pain of abuse or addiction into the promise of abundance.

In my book from abuse to abundance, I chronicled my journey and the steps I had to take to create courage, understanding, forgiveness and self love.  You can too.

Those bound by the past, fears and pain often suffer in silence awaiting the balm of healing.
Self sabotage and fear keeps us bound to silence and isolation.

We don't change because we don't know how, or we get stuck or some of even start and quit before change can happen.

But here is a secret that I have learned and want to share with you

The greatest gift the creator has given us is the ability to change our minds, but you have to change your mind in order to change.

So as a jump-start and warm-up exercise to Reboot, Repair, Rebirth, here are three takeaways that will start you on your path to healing.

1.  Reboot your soul by becoming courageous to ask for help and ending the isolation. Remove yourself from substances, your abuser, and eliminate self hate and self harm, acquire a trusting sounding board—hint: that’s a close friend or loved one, and gain control over overwhelming symptoms.

2. Repair your heart  by identifying your critical voice—you know the voice that reminds you of the past hurts and pains. Then release your anger, sadness, and take good care of yourself. You will be in a position of understanding with the ability to forgive and love your self.

3. Create Rebirth with celebration, persistence, boundaries  and accountability so you can maintain your greatness, own and share your story and give back.

Wow...sounds like a wonderful book! Get your copy at Amazon.

Hope you enjoyed today's guest post and that you'll visit each week for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.

Until next time, take care and God Bless.

#TuesdayTreasures - My Favorite Things

Good Morning!

Since this is Thanksgiving week and I have a special guest on Thursday, I thought I'd share with you today.

There are a few things I treasure more than the Silver Spur Guest Ranch in Bandera, TX. The way the sun strikes over the hills as it descends from the sky, or reflects off the pond...breathtaking and I'm so happy and grateful to be here this week.!

One thing I can say I treasure and am more grateful for than anything is my family....

These group photos were taken in 2007. In 2009 we welcomed this little guy into our midst.

And we said goodbye to this wonderful husband, father and son.

In 2014 we said goodbye to both ladies in the family pic - my mother and mother-in-law.

No matter what life may throw my way in the future, I am forever grateful and will always treasure the love we shared and the strength these wonderful people imparted to me....

Strength to keep on, keeping on no matter what.

Their memories are what keep me going.

Hope your Thanksgiving is Blessed and Happy and that you'll check back with me each week for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.

Until next time, take care and God Bless.

#SaturdaySpotlight is on The October Testament by Ruth Magnusson Davis

Good Morning Friends,

Well tomorrow I'll be heading to my home away from home...yes, Bandera, TX and the Silver Spur Guest Ranch!

I'll be there for the whole week, but don't worry, you won't miss a single Saturday Spotlight, Tuesday Treasures or Thursday Thoughts.

You know how much I love God and His Word so you'll understand why today's post is one I'm really excited to share.

Tyndale's New Testament for the 21st Century

Vancouver Island, Canada – September 2016 – This, The October Testament, is Tyndale's New Testament as it was published in the 1549 Matthew Bible, complete with the notes and commentaries of that Reformation Bible, and all gently updated by Ruth Magnusson Davis (published by Baruch House Publishing, octobertestament.com).

The primary author of the October Testament is the English martyr William Tyndale. This is his final New Testament translation of 1535. Two years later, his friend John Rogers, also martyred,  published these scriptures in a little-known but very important Reformation Bible called the Matthew Bible, which became the first authorized English Bible under King Henry VIII.

The wine-colored cover is symbolic of the blood with which this bible was bought.

Ruth Magnusson Davis is founder and editor of the New Matthew Bible Project. Her work is to update the Matthew Bible: not to make a modern bible, but to keep the language of the original as much as possible, which she calls the real language of the faith.

Because the KJV New Testament was largely taken from Tyndale, readers will find much that is familiar here, and beautiful, but will find it easier to understand than the KJV.

In March 2016 the October Testament finally became available for sale, and was immediately well received. Ruth's fine editorial hand is almost unnoticeable. Tyndale continues to shine through. Rogers' style in his annotations is distinctly his. Readers comment repeatedly on both the flow and the clarity of the New Matthew Bible scriptures, and also on the beauty of the original style, which Ruth, with her delicate touch, has masterfully retained.

Ruth, a retired lawyer, is a scholar of early modern English, the writings of William Tyndale, and the Matthew Bible. In 2009 she retired from professional practice in order to undertake this work full-time. In October 2015, she completed the New Testament, "The October Testament."

BIO: Ruth Magnusson Davis is a retired lawyer with an undergraduate degree in languages, and a conservative Christian. She holds to the fullness of Reformation doctrine, with one foot in the camp of evangelical traditional Anglicans and another with the Lutherans. She presently resides in Canada.

Hope you enjoyed today's spotlight. See you next week!

Until then, take care and God Bless

#ThursdayThoughts Guest post by Tina Gayle

Good Morning Friends!

Tina Gayle is no stranger to us. She is the inventor of the various blog exchanges I participate in (Egg-Cerpt Exchange, Fall Romantic Travel, etc.).

Today, Tina would like to share some thoughts with us...

How do You Recover from Pain of Grief?

I’m sure there are an infinite number of stories of how a person recovers from the loss of someone they loved.

I thought, I would share with you my story. As you may know, I’m an author. For some writers to lose someone they care about puts them in a blue funk and makes writing extremely hard. A writer’s block is what some people call it.

Luckily, I was at the beginning of my career as an author and didn’t know about this problem. So I did what I always do when I’m struggling to adjust. I let my imagination go wild. For me, I need the comfort of my family. At the time, I was living in California while my sisters and most of my family were living in Texas.

I had picked up a book by Sylvia Brown about the Other Side. This book set sparked my imagination. I began to wonder what it would be like if I could communicate with my ancestors on a day basis. Could they in some way direct my life and help me grow as a person?

This question led me to ask more questions and soon I had a story idea that set me on fire.

While writing Summer’s Growth, I felt as if I had Jonathan the main spirit in the story on my shoulder. He and the other spirits helped me understand the difference between a ghost and a spirit. How spirits appear in faded colors while ghost were black and white.

Jonathan showed me something that my characters didn’t seem to get. Just because things aren’t going great doesn’t mean they aren’t going according to plan. We all need to grow and learn. Different things happen for a reason. Our job is to find the positive in what happen and grow.

So after working on this book for months, I felt better. I had my family walk me through the story adventure. They talked me through the pain of losing a loved one and helped me emerge on the other side. Granted, I still miss my mother, but I also know she’s still with me.

I hope you enjoy my story, and you’ll check out my book “Summer’s Growth.”

All the best,

Tina

#TuesdayTreasures Away in a Manger by David B Biebel

Good Morning Friends!

Whew, been a busy weekend with Bayou Writers Conference, a wonderful event but I'm glad it's behind us.

Today's guest, David Biebel is new to the blog. I've known him for sometime through TWJ Magazine, but for some odd reason he's never visited us here before.

Anyway, he's here with a brand new book I just know is something to treasure!

Once upon a time, a lamb and his mommy were selected to participate in a live Nativity Scene sponsored by a local church in Colorado. The Christmas story is retold, replete with full-color original artwork, through the very inquisitive lamb’s questions and his mother’s replies.

In Away in a Manger, pertinent gospel passages are shared by a narrating pastor, with a salvation emphasis at the end. The ewe explains who the various characters are and what their roles were in Bethlehem long ago. You will find this mini-novel to be a new and refreshing perspective on the true meaning of Christmas, designed for Christian parents to read and discuss with their children during the Christmas season.

To order from the publisher, with free shipping & no tax: http://bit.ly/2dbHksk. Printed book and all eBooks available in all versions. Inquire re. the type you need. To order from Amazon.com, with printed book and eBook available (Kindle only): http://amzn.to/2dUGTCI. Check out Kindle “matchbook” pricing: $11.99 for book; $1.99 for Kindle.

What folks are saying about Away in a Manger....
"Not your ordinary Christmas book, but an extraordinary Christmas story that adults and children will enjoy! The child-like perspective of Ransom, the inquisitive lamb in a live nativity scene, draws you in, asking profound questions that a child might ask if he or she had been there in person, in Bethlehem, long ago. The story naturally flows into a salvation invitation and prayer. Adults should first read this book and then give it as a gift with a personal inscription to each and every child they can think of this Christmas." ~ Monte Swan (author of Romancing Your Child’s Heart, its Vision & Strategy Manual, and The Secret of Singing Springs
Sure sounds like a book children of all ages will treasure.

#SaturdaySpotlight is on Linda Nightingale & Four by Moonlight

Good Morning Friends,

Tuesday, Linda shared with us something she treasures and we mentioned her new book, Four by Moonlight. Well today we are spotlighting her book!

My very favorite poem, and one of my favorite works of literature, is The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes.  It is lyrical enough that it has been recorded many times over.

This poem inspired my “Gypsy Ribbons,” which is included in an anthology from Class Act Books, Four by Moonlight.  I wanted to see what the idea of the highwayman, combined with other elements, would become in prose.

Once I read the story on a PodCast.  I had practiced the entire day before the reading, and only stumbled once.  No surprise, I had almost memorized Gypsy Ribbons.  I don’t have a copy of that PodCast or I’d include the link so that you could have a laugh as a South Carolinian with an accent tried to read a story starring British characters.

I often wondered if I could expand the story into a book, but it seemed happy as a short story.  The piece dates back quite a few years, but it has been polished and edited.  I didn’t have to worry about the advent of modern technology.  In the late 1800s, no one had a cell phone!  “Gypsy Ribbons’” setting is the Yorkshire moors, the time period parallel with the American Revolution.

Four by Moonlight also includes a novella, “The Night Before Doomsday,” the tag line to which is “Azazel resisted temptation…until the wrong woman came along.” The story takes a look at the angel Azazel in a different light—not as the demon he is often portrayed.  “Night Before Doomsday” is about the Grigori’s descent to Earth to teach men to survive/thrive after their oust from the Garden of Eden.

One story is very spicy. “The Gate Keeper’s Cottage” bears a warning sign: Enter at your own risk.

The fourth offering is “Star Angel,” a sci-fi romance and is very New Age.  The hero and the heroine are soul mates separated by a dimension.

Come with me on a journey to 1789 with “Gypsy Ribbons.”  Next whistle stop is the Garden of Eden, and on to a plantation outside New Orleans, and finally a rescue in an Idaho potato patch. In Four by Moonlight, no one is exactly what he/she may seem.

Four by Moonlight: An anthology of love in the moonlight…in the paranormal universe.

Gypsy Ribbons – A moonlight ride on the moors and meeting a notorious highwayman will forever change Lady Virginia Darby’s life.

Star Angel – Lucy was stuck in a rut and in an Idaho potato patch. She’d seen him in the corner of her eye—a fleeting glimpse of beauty—now he stood before her in the flesh.

The Night Before Doomsday – All his brothers had succumbed to lust, but Azazel resisted temptation until the wrong woman came along.

The Gate Keeper’s Cottage – Newlywed Meggie Richelieu’s mysterious, phantom lover may be more than anyone, except the plantation housekeeper, suspects.

Excerpt:

Red eyes watched from the grate as she slipped into the cold, empty bed. Simon should have been there to warm her rather than the dying fire. Not pursuing a dangerous dream. Too angry, too miserable to weep, she tossed and turned. The relief of sleep eluded her.

An icy breath whispered through the room. Tory snuggled deeper beneath the goose down covers. Had the weather made up its mind? Was Simon riding in ice and snow? She imagined white flakes in Goliath’s long black mane and on the highwayman’s plush velvet cloak. Poor darling, he would be cold. Tory slowly drifted to sleep unrelated thoughts scrolling in her mind. A soft sound snapped her wide awake. She sat bolt upright, tugging the covers over the breasts.  The room was iceberg cold.  The ghost.

“Not Simon.” She held her breath, ears stained for the horrifying, otherworldly whisper, a warning of imminent death. The sound came again, closer. A slow footstep creeping over the old oaken floor. Tonight, the ghost of Darby Manor wandered its dim corridors.

“No. No.” Tory squeezed her eyes closed and prayed, forgetting she didn’t believe in ghosts.
The footsteps halted. Tory’s heart stopped. She started to cover her ears, refusing to hear. The ghost breathed that heartbreaking sigh at her door.

Shuddering, she slid back under the layers of down. The warmth had no effect on her shivers. She folded into a fetal position.  I’m no longer alone.  Fear chilled her anew.  Though she couldn’t see clearly in the dim light, she knew her breath puffed white clouds in the frigid air. Dread sank its wicked claws into her racing heart.

Linda Nightingale is a native-born South Carolinian who has lived in England and Canada, and now resides in Texas.  Before turning to writing, she bred, trained and showed Andalusian horses for thirteen years.

In 2012, her novel, Gemini Rising, was voted Best Mainstream Novel in the Preditors & Editors Readers Poll. Her vampire romance, Cardinal Desires won the Georgia Romance Writers Magnolia Award in 2013, and that was followed by her science fiction romance, Love for Sale, being awarded Best SF/Fantasy novel of 2015 by the Paranormal Romance Guild’s Reviewer’s Choice, and also voted one of the Top Ten Romance Novels of 2015 by the Preditors & Editors Readers Poll for that year.
