Good Morning Friends,
It's a busy crazy week here at the Silver Spur Guest Ranch in Bandera, TX but I wanted to take a moment to THANK each and every one of you for your continued love and support. Despite the hardships of the past 15 months I KNOW how truly blessed I am.

Saturday Spotlight - Shawna K Williams
Good Morning Friends and Welcome to the first Saturday Spotlight for November!
Wow, can you believe we are winding down this year already?!
Today, please join me in welcoming a new friend, Shawna K Williams with her book, In All Things sequel to her debut novel, No Other. But first a little about Shawna in her own words....
I'm a lot of things: a Christian, wife, mother, friend, author, artist, rock hound, science geek and animal lover. The first four take priority. The rest tend to jostle for my attention. Since I'm always a dreamer, author usually wins.
Indeed, my first two books are the result of a dream -- an actual dream. It nagged me for six months as I mentally tried to fill in all of the gaps. I finally had to write it down. Since then, God has continued to bless with me inspiration at times of His choosing.
Technically, I'm an Inspirational Romance writer. But I like to think that romance includes more than the relationship between two people. It can also be about the era or place, or even a single moment in time, when an elusive whisper reaches inward and ever so gently taps the soul, saying, "This. Remember this."
It's my desire that my stories create such a moment.
Some of my methods for filling my creative reservoir are reading about the histories of small towns, pouring over old photos in antique shops and people's homes (if I'm at yours, I'll ask to see your picture albums) and asking prying questions about your best family stories. Oh! And if you ever see a lady on the side of the road, taking pictures of old, dilapidated houses and buildings, it's probably me.

Jakob and Meri's story continues...
Meredith Louis's Hollywood career is at a point of transition. No longer under Majestic Studios' control, Meri is free to broaden her appeal as an actress and finally earn the recognition she desires.
Meri and Jakob return to their hometown for the holidays where Meri hopes to reconcile with her parents after a decade of silence. But after a disastrous encounter, Meri is plunged into turmoil as old fears resurface in unexpected ways.
Jakob, already dealing with unresolved family issues of his own, is further burdened by his inability to help his wife. Can he learn to step aside and trust God's plan.Will Meri recognize what she already has?
In All Things is a story of faith and restoration, cemented in the belief, "...that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Excerpt: Meri crept into the bedroom after getting her baby boys down for the night. Eight months old and the twins were finally sleeping a full six hours in a row. Jakob lay sprawled out on top of the bed covers, listening to the broadcast of the Shamrock Hotel's grand opening. He'd marveled over its architectural design during the final months of the building's construction, saying it was a delicate balance of bulk and elegance, a modernistic French chateau. Whatever that meant?
At $42 per ticket, attending the event was beyond the realm of possibilities. She knew that he ached to see inside, though. Maybe after the hubbub died down, they could dress up and sneak into the lobby. Pretend to be guests as they strolled about.
Meri crawled onto the bed and snuggled close. "Anything interesting?"
"Oh yeah. This thing is huge. Did you know that's Dorothy Lamour?"
Meri listened closely to the full-bodied, charismatic voice emanating through the airwaves as it introduced a host of celebrities -- Errol Flynn, Ginger Rogers, Robert Preston.
"Wow, sounds like some party they're having."
"A little while ago she announced there were fifty thousand people outside the hotel. That can't be right. Do you think?"
Meri shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe."
Jakob rolled onto his back. Meri laid her head on his chest as he ran his hand through her hair. Neither spoke as they listened to the increasingly rowdy festivities. It sounded like champagne was flowing in abundance.
"You should be there," Jakob said.
Over a year of marriage and the birth of their boys, and Jakob still punished himself as though he deprived her of something important. There was a strong possibility that her parents were at the opening. It was being touted as the biggest social event in Houston's history, so her mother wouldn't want to miss it. But Meri didn't care. All she wanted was Jakob. He fulfilled her.
"No. I should be here with you."
Miss Lamour broke out in song, and several not so talented voices joined in. Meri snickered.
"I meant that you should be a guest of honor, a celebrity -- invited to celebrate."
"Don't be silly."
He stopped playing with her hair and tipped her chin up toward him. "Let's move to Los Angeles."
"What?"
"I want your dreams to come true."
"What are you talking about?"
"You want to be an actress."
"Oh, Jakob. That doesn't matter anymore." She laid her head back onto his chest. "I'm a wife and a mother. You've got your job and school. Besides, we wouldn't even know where to start."
He lay still for a minute, and then his fingers ran through her hair again. "What if I figured something out?"
"Such as?"
"I don't know yet."
Meri giggled. She pushed herself up and kissed him on the lips. "I love you." Jakob's deep blue eyes held her gaze. Wheels were definitely turning in there. "What are you thinking?"
"I promise you, Meri. Somehow, I'm gonna make it happen."
A buzz of drunken laughter crackled through the radio at their bedside, drowning out Dorothy Lamour as she continued in song. Then a single word burst through the noisy clamor.
Meri covered her mouth. "Did he just say..."
The broadcast cut off and static buzzed from the radio's speaker.
She and Jakob looked at each other with widened eyes.
"I think so." A smile covered his face. He wrapped his arms around her, and rolled her beneath him as they laughed. "I wonder how they'll write that up in the papers?"
"As a warning against live broadcast in the excess of champagne." Meri fought to catch her breath. "I can't believe that happened."
Jakob hovered over her with a gentle smile and tender eyes. She reached up and brushed his cheek with her fingers.
"Believe in me, Meri. Will you believe in me?"
It seemed so crazy. What did he plan to do? Knock on Louis B. Mayer's door. This is my wife. She wants to be an actress. Yet, the conviction in his eyes overwhelmed all reason, and from her lips she heard the words, "I do." And it was the truth.

Red River Romance Writers
Well Friends, I'm back on the road again - this time to Wichita Falls, Texas to speak at the Red River Romance Writers monthly meeting!
Life has been a whirlwind since I returned from Nashville, TN last week, but I'd rather be busy than have too much time on my hands. What is it the Bible says about idle hands?
Yeah, and too much time means way too much time to think and that's not always a good thing.
Not much else happening in my world. I'm still waiting on my edits for The Visonary and will be heading back to Bandera, TX and the Silver Spur Ranch on or around the 18th for about 3 weeks....SO looking forward to going back!
Just wanted to drop in and keep you abreast of what's going on so until later....Take care & Be BLESSED!

New Title~New Cover!
Good Morning Friends!
Back in March I posted the good news that my short story, The Gift had been contracted for publication by White Rose Publishing.
Well today, I'd like to share with you more good news!
The title of the story has been changed from The Gift to In His Sight - a lot more appropriate for a romantic suspense right?
The edits have been done and the story should be in production - I'm waiting on a galley (final proof) - if all is well, we'll go to publication! Oh and get a gander at this cover...

Sarah swiveled her chair so she could face Helen. "Now, what were we saying?"
Helen grunted and pushed her thick glasses up further on the bridge of her nose. "Independence," She remarked dryly. "Have you ever stopped to consider, being able to depend on someone other than yourself might not be such a bad thing?"
Here we go again, Sarah gritted her teeth to keep from saying something she would regret later. She picked a piece of lint off her pants. "You're right."
"I know I'm right." Helen's eyes widened as if Sarah had a temporary loss of her senses. "But in the five years we've worked together you've never agreed with me before."
"That's because you've never quite said it that way. But where man will fail, God will not. He is the only one I ever want to depend on." Sarah put her headset on and watched the monitor's black blinking cursor.
With a groan, Helen put her head into her hands and murmured, "Back to square one!"
Sarah lowered her eye lashes, "Helen, honestly, I like my life just as it is." Sarah knew the concern she saw in Helen's eyes was for her. However, she also knew men were on a whole were a problem, not a solution.
"Fine. But, I don't understand why you won't even entertain the thought of dating someone."
Sarah swatted at the finger Helen had pointed at her nose. A spurt of anger drew her chin up a notch as she wondered why, of all times, did the radios need to be quiet now? "I'm happy. Why spoil it?"

Better Late than Never
Hey Friends,
Sorry I'm so late posting this week but as they say, "better late than never" LOL!
Arrived home Sunday afternoon from Daytona Beach, FL and NDA Dance & Cheer Competition - our teams from Stephen F Austin University ranked 3rd in Dance, Lg Co-Ed Cheer 1st and Small Co-Ed Cheer 2nd - I may have those two mixed up but all 3 teams ranked in the Nation's top 3!
We're proud of you, SFA!
Anyway, thought I'd be able to chill and relax for a few days - you know, catch up on things...cut grass (and now it's raining aarrgghhh!), clean house, etc.
NOT!
Monday I had plans to visit a cousin of Terry's who lives out of state, we had a GREAT time. Today I sat with grandchildren who have strep virus - only 1 has symptoms - a rash. Dr. said this virus has changed so much over the years and the symptoms now vary from one child to another. Looks like I'll be there tomorrow too.
So much for a fairly restful week after traveling last week huh?
Oh well one of the perks of being home instead of having a 'real' job.
Not much changed since my last post. I did get the first round of edits back on The Gift. Editor ripped the story to shreds - in a good way! She wants to expound on the suspense - which is a great thing - I'd love to know how to build that aspect up more in a story since it tends to creep into some LOL.
Other than that, everything is moving along. Oh, the dictation didn't work out - doctor is impossible to understand - guess it's just not my cup of tea.

Good News!
Feels like forever since I've been able to say those words... "Good news!"

Anyway, thought I'd pop in and let you all know I received a contract for my short story, The Gift from White Rose Publishing!

Settling In
Hello Friends,
Experts say it takes a minimum of 30 days to create a new habit. We all know it takes no time at all to fall back into an old one LOL!
This is the last week of January and I wonder~ how are you doing with your goals and resolutions?
My goal as you know was to work from home and I'm finding it takes dedication and discipline to do this.
The first couple of weeks I gave myself a break and time to settle in. Week three I implemented a routine of sorts, one that allows me time to Pray, Write and Promote my own work as well as work on my PPS clients.
Well you know the saying....the best laid plans of mice and men....
Although the routine is workable, life has a habit of getting in the way - HOWEVER I am managing to pin down time to write and submit. So, I guess that's a good thing.
Maybe by the end of next month I'll have lots of good news to report.
Not much else to chat about so until next time....take care, God Bless, and remember....the root of procrastination is fear so get to working on those goals and resolutions!
Experts say it takes a minimum of 30 days to create a new habit. We all know it takes no time at all to fall back into an old one LOL!
This is the last week of January and I wonder~ how are you doing with your goals and resolutions?
My goal as you know was to work from home and I'm finding it takes dedication and discipline to do this.
The first couple of weeks I gave myself a break and time to settle in. Week three I implemented a routine of sorts, one that allows me time to Pray, Write and Promote my own work as well as work on my PPS clients.

Random Ramblings
Good Morning Friends!
One of the goals for this year is to blog more often, however I can't think of anything to talk about. Anything of significance that is LOL!
So far, I'm loving this new venture of mine but to be honest, out of the seven days (not counting the weekend) only two were spent totally at home. Some little detail arose the other five - including babysitting a sick grandchild - thank God he is on the mend!
Speaking of new ventures, a dear freind of mine has embarked on one of her own. For those of you in Texas and Georgia, this may be something you'd find interesting! Check it out: http://wwww.kellykirch.igniteinc.biz/

JoAnn Carter lives in Vermont with her wonderful husband of 17 years, four children and Ginger, the best dog in the world. She enjoys being with her family & friends, writing, reading, and cooking. In the past JoAnn has worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and as a substitute teacher. This year however, she is at home, to home school one of her children.

Working Behind the Scenes
Good Morning Friends,
Until I woke up I had no idea what to blog about today, I mean everything in my life has changed. Where once I saw a bright future, now a huge question mark. I find myself wavering on nearly every decision I have to make ~ not a good thing for someone who was always up for a challenge.
Alas, I'm told all this is normal and one day I'll find my footing again. I know that God has a good plan for my life - Jeremiah 29:11 promises this - and I'm clinging to that promise with every ounce of faith I have.
So much has happened since my last personal post - my brother came in from Alaska for a visit, my Dad celebrated his 70th birthday and I attended my 30yr class reunion - can you imagine? 30 yrs!
I still can't believe - I don't feel that old (most of the time LOL!).
I've been working behind the scenes a lot with my writing - designing a new website, editing a Non Fiction piece that was rejected by 2 publishers - one however, invited me to resubmit after changes were made, and working little by little on new stories.
I am starting to look ahead somewhat and plan promotional activities again - Monday (Nov. 9th) I'll be guest on Anna Katheryn Lanier's blog so drop by and visit me there. The other events I've lined up are for next year so I'll tell you about them later.
This Saturday our spotlight is on Rich Dixon - so please drop by and visit with him.

Memories
Hello Friends,
I've received numerous sympathy cards over the past month and all of them touched my heart in some way or another - EACH one is GREATLY appreciated. One however, titled Let There Be Memories, seemed to resonate within me. I'd like to share it with you now along with some photos of me and Terry.

Christmas party - probably around 2000Let there be memories - signs that our loved ones remain near in spirit long after they're gone...tender, surprising, hearwarming, and welcom-sweet proof of the promise that love will live on.

Nothing to Blog About.....
Hello Friends,
My beloved passed away on Aug. 18th.
I'm sure you're wondering at the title of this post. Believe me, I've wrestled over the decision to share this information for a while now - afterall once it is out on the 'net it is there for all the world to see.
Terry was a firm believer in privacy and not putting our business on the street. But since you are my friends and deserve to know why I'm not writing/posting regularly, I chose this simple explanation and it is with a heavy heart I write.
My beloved passed away on Aug. 18th. I'm not sure when I'll be inspired to write another enlightening post. Thank God (and Blogger) for the option to 'schedule' these things - because of that ability, Saturday Spotlight and an occasional special guest spotlight will continue.
Prayers and positive thoughts appreciated.
Until later take care, be blessed and remember....show/tell your loved ones often that you care because you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Just a little note.....
Not much going on in my world, Friends. I have a whole month of wonderful guests scheduled for Saturday Spotlight, 1 VBT, and a couple of events myself - which I'll tell you about in a minute - but other than that, SOS LOL!
I managed to get past the 10K wordcount mark on my Hearts Crossing contest entry so hopefully I'll get more done and stay on schedule to enter. If not at least I have the makings of a pretty good story (if I may say so myself) :-)
IMW, author David Golden asked me to pass along a note to those of you who commented on his spotlight since he doesn't have the ability to do so - First he'd like to THANK everyone who read and/or commented - his trip to Idaho was wonderful and he met not only very interesting people, but contacts who may be able to help with getting his books in front of commercial publishers! The book signing went well also, and he came back to Louisiana with new friends and fans.
~ Congratulations David; may God bless your endeavors.
Currently my interview is up at White Rose Publishing Blog. Tomorrow I'll be over at fellow author, Emma Lai's blog; on the 22nd I'll be at the Iowa Arts & Craft festival - Iowa, Louisiana that is. If you're in the area, stop by the community center and check it out.

Personal Message & Upcoming Events
Hello Friends,
I'm totally clueless on what to blog about right now so thought I'd take a moment to THANK YOU ALL for your continued support of my writing. As you may know, I signed with Literary Agent, Les Stobbe late last year to pitch The Visionary - well he's been doing that and right now we are waiting on responses from several publishers. One recently requested a FULL manuscript - which is usually a good sign.
Prayers appreciated.
This month I've set up a few promotional opportunities...
On Sat the 18th I'll be visiting over at Lorean's Lore and on the 21st I'll be at Mistress Bella's Interviews. I hope you'll join me there.
I've also got some great Saturday Spotlight guests - Tannia Ortiz (18th) & Dianne Miley (25th) as well as a great tour - 60 Minute Time Management - on the 22nd. On the 29th I'm spotlighting a very special author, David Golden!
If you've been following my articles on Helium, I've posted a few new ones and one of my devotional poems was accepted by Churchmouse Publications!
I've also joined twitter!
On the writing front - I'm currently working on a contest entry for White Rose Publishing, though my time to write seems to have vanished LOL! Oh, and this month I'm featured in Christian Fiction Online Magazine in the "Author by Night" column.
I'm sure there's lots of stuff I'm leaving out but to be honest, I'm so busy all the time that I have a hard time keeping up with me LOL!
And - don't forget, autographed copies of my books are ON SALE all summer long! Details at my website.

Book Review - Mothers of the Bible Speak to Mothers of Today
Hello Friends,
On May 13th I hosted this lovely book on virtual tour and now I'd like to share with you my thoughts......
As much as I've read the Bible, I've never thought to delve into the hearts and minds of the characters within.
Ms. Macias has done a beautiful job in searching the hearts and minds of the women from whom all mothers come in this interesting and thought provoking book. Mothers of the Bible Speak to Mothers of Today is a lovely example of the wisdom and direction that can be only gleaned from the Source of all life.
If you are a mother or want to bless someone who is, Mothers of the Bible is the perfect way to do so!

Getting Ready for the Baby
Hi Friends!
If you read my blog post May 2nd, you'll see that I went to my daughter's baby shower. Seems like forever we've been waiting and getting ready to recieve this baby LOL!
