#ThursdayThoughts: Follow Up and Follow Through

Good Morning!

I pray this day finds you blessed and prosperous.

A recent conversation with a friend who has been dealing with a legal issue for over a year now and is aggravated because it's still not complete, brought to mind a motto I learned and benefited from time and again, especially in my years working in corporate positions.

Follow up and follow through.

This is especially important in a business environment!

As a licensed insurance sales staff and customer service representative, I was constantly amazed at the number of times a co-worker complained about missing an opportunity or putting a task away and it never getting completed.

Granted, things happen that throw a monkey wrench in the best laid plans, but for the most part the error was on behalf of the employee.

Many times I was asked how I excelled or exceeded my (or the company's) goal for the month. My response was always the same....

Follow up and follow through.

How did I reel in that new client or make a certain "grumpy" or "unreasonable" client happy?

Follow up and follow through.

How did I sell 31 policies in a month?

You guessed it....Follow up and follow through.

I can't stress enough how important these steps are and many times it's as simple as a phone call to make sure everyone is satisfied once a situation is resolved. This also builds excellent customer relations.

Your life and/or job can be easier, more enjoyable and sometimes, more productive and more profitable if you follow this simple rule....

Follow up and follow through.

Something to think about!

I needed your "Follow up and follow through." Sometimes it's hard to do this when I'm not sure whether God is calling me to take my hands off something permanently or for a season.

So true Zoe! A prayer I pray often is.... If this is Your will open the doors, if not, block it.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Great advice that I need to take to heart! Thank you!

Again, this is exactly the message I needed to hear today. Thank you.

It seems so simple, and yet sometimes it's staggering to keep the plates spinning. It seems the key is to stay focused, hyper-focused even, and coming straight back to it when something gets in the way. Thanks, Pam. Cheers

Yes, Marilyn you've about summed it up.

Hi Pam,

I think these days a business background is just what an author needs. So much is expected these days in marketing and promotion when really all we want to do is write.

Pamela S Thibodeaux said...

You are so right Jacqueline...so much expected and sometimes for so little compensation (especially with the current mindset of readers wanting everything free)...but we just keep on keeping on don't we.

Glad you enjoyed the post Marissa!

Thank you both for stopping by!

Hope to see you in Ann Arbor on September 18th noon to 5pm.Professional Opinions
Here a list of questions I’m only learning to ask about the publishing business. If you have the time or experience, I would appreciate your help.
1. When I come across a book I really like, I send a review to the author for approval to post on Amazon, is that normal practice?
2. Have you ever been approached to use quotes from your reviews as part of a jacket recommendation?
3. What do you find is the best approach for garnering reviews?
4. Is this acceptable, “Please let me know if you enjoy my book?”
5. As for all unknown subjects, I’m not sure I’m covering the information I need. What other questions should I be asking?
6. How do you enjoy readers to post reviews on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble?
Thank you for your time. rohn@comcast.net

Great advice. So simple yet extremely important. Thanks for sharing.

This is advice that works for writers, that's for sure. It's so easy to stop a project before it's completed and start something new and exciting, but it sure doesn't help us get published.

I have a problem with this. I think it is my ADD. I will start out deciding I should clean the windows. I'll go into the kitchen to get the Windex and see that the sink is full of dishes. I'll wash dishes, but when I run out of room I start drying. When my towel becomes wet, I go to put it in the laundry and realize I need to do laundry... You see what I'm getting at. Drives me crazy! Thanks for sharing your motto with us.

Yeah it really is simple Alicia once we implement and stick to the process.

So true Patricia! Not always good to have too many WIP's :-)

I hear ya MJ...I tend to get sidetracked too...which is why I notate things on my TO DO list that need following up on.

Thank you ALL for stopping by!
