We are here for my granddaughter's Platinum Dance National Competition. She won Gold in Solo yesterday and had Duet tomorrow then Team on Thursday.
Patricia Preston visited with us a little over a year ago, but today, she speaks of treasuring those long, summer days....
I truly treasure long summer days. I am day person and I love that we have longer days in the summer. It seems like I have more time in the summer, although I know I don’t. But I get much more done in the summer, especially when it doesn’t get dark until eight. I treasure going outside just before dark while it is warm and watching the lightning bugs in the woods behind my house.
Plus I love wearing shorts and sandals. I also treat myself to ice cream in summer. Besides shorts, sandals, and ice cream, I also usually have a yard sale. Over the years, I have had several yard sales. Most of the the time, the sales involved me and some friends or relatives who got together to have one. Despite the work involved, I always had a lot of fun when I had one and they inspired me to write a short funny story about a yard sale. Some of the things that happened in the story and some of the characters are actually based on the yard sales that I had and the people who showed up. If you’ve ever had a yard sale, I’m sure you’ll be familiar with the Early Birds, Tightwads, and Packrats featured in the short story.

Thanks Patricia! I believe most of us agree long, summer days are certainly something to treasure. I know I MUCH prefer summer to winter!

Thanks for having me today!!!
Pam and Patricia,
I also love the long, leisurely days of summer.
Hi Pam! Congrats to your granddaughter!
Patricia, it was nice "meeting" you.
I'm another one of those who loves long summer days. And ice cream. Especially ice cream. :)
Thanks for stopping by, Jacqueline! I'm in Mississippi and temps are in the 90's this week so we are having some long, hot days!!!
Hi Lori! I'm all about ice cream. Especially chocolate! :)
Pam- Great news about your granddaughter! Congratulations! I'm sure you're proud. :)
Patricia- Ha, ha--we just had garage sale weekend in our neighborhood. I think I could add a few characters to your story, like the people who forget that the road isn't theirs and cars can flatten them!
I love summer because I'm a lunch lady and I have my summers off from my day job and can concentrate on my writing. I have loved ice cream, and other sweets, a little too much, so I'm banning myself from them right now! Best wishes in all you do!
I'm from Texas and lightning bugs and ice cream are some of my favorite parts of summer as well. Enjoyed the post. Good luck to you!
I love the idea of writing about a yard sale. I know someone for whom this would be a perfect read. Thanks, Patricia. Cheers
I'm with you. I love the sun, which is I retired to sunny Arizona! I think my blood is now made up of sun-brewed green tea! Great post.
MJ: I hope you made lots of money on your sale!!! I have a shed full of stuff I need to get rid of which is always the case. I'm glad you are off during the summer! Enjoy!
Kara: Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a good summer and plenty of ice cream!
Thanks, Marilyn! Yes, writing about a yard sale was a lot of fun.
Thanks for stopping by, Elizabeth. I know you are enjoying the summer in Arizona. Stay cool!
You make summer sound almost pleasant, Patricia, but I am afraid I am NOT a fan. I don't like anything about summer, other than baseball. Can't wait for winter to arrive! Still, I enjoyed your post and your book looks like a cute read. Best wishes!
Hi Patricia, congratulations on the new series! I actually like fall best in theory...but as one who taught school for just ever, I remember longing for endless summer days. Enjoyed the post!
Alicia~Love baseball too! My favorite season is fall. Love the colors!
Thank you, Tanya! Yes, I love fall, too. Especially fall colors. My second book in the Love Heals All series is set during the fall and I loved writing it.
