#TuesdayTreasures: Guest post by Ryan Clemons

Good Morning Friends,

It is always a pleasure to have guest authors share something they treasure with us, especially a new author and doubly so when it's a new Pelican Book Group OR Bayou Writers Group author!

Today's guest is new to me and to Bayou Writers Group in Lake Charles, Louisiana...the group I co-founded back in 2002.

Ryan Clemons resides in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and a concentration in Public Relations from McNeese State University. Ryan had the opportunity to intern with University Image, a marketing firm at McNeese State University. She also had the privilege to work for three forms of media: Television: KPLC News: News Content Specialist, Print: The American Press, Account Executive Radio: KZWA 104.9, Radio Personality.

Ryan is currently president of 3RP Productions, a nonprofit organization committed to changing lives by touring different cities and hosting the "It's Over" Revival. She's also serves as the Executive Director of Pink Life, a non-profit organization that assists mothers who are in need of diapers and wipes free of charge. In her spare time, Ryan speaks at youth organizations, non-profit organizations, women's conferences and seminars about her journey. She is dedicated to changing this generation by encouraging and inspiring others.

Now that we've met Ryan, let's see what she treasures....

I treasure my college class ring, because it's a constant reminder of my will power and determination. In college I was a single mom working three part-time jobs. I made the decision to put myself through college, so I applied for a position at McNeese in administration. I also worked part-time in security, and I was a waitress for a privately owned catering company.

Over the course of three years, my life was consistently about college and Tyler. I was my my biggest motivator, and I had to push forward. During that period I learned to managed it all because I was determined to make it. It seemed as if I was going crazy at times, averaging four hours of sleep, but I had a goal to reach. I knew because of my current status as a single mom I had to try harder, study harder. Being a student in class was more of a challenge to to me than anything else. I couldn't afford to waste time lagging behind my classes because I wanted to pass and graduate.

When I look at my ring it's a symbol of my strength and it proves I am capable!

Boy to many of us understand, agree and treasure our class rings also Ryan! Thanks for sharing.

Ryan's debut novel, Victorious: The Journey of a Single Mom and Her Faith, can be purchased at Amazon

Ryan will be returning to share some thoughts with us and we'll spotlight her book at a later date, so be sure and visit weekly for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight!

Until next time, take care and God bless.

Wonderfully inspiring story, Ryan. My mom was a single mom, and it wasn't until I grew up and had my own family that I fully considered the many challenges she faced, and even then I couldn't really know. Thank you for sharing your story.
