Saturday Spotlight - Kathryn J Bain!

Well Good Morning and Happy Saturday to you All!

Lot's of exciting things going on today. Artists Fest through local library and a wedding to attend then get ready to leave for Oklahoma for a Brown Bag Luncheon / Book Discussion on The Visionary with the Friends of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center & Library, 1515 W. Main St., Durant, OK 74701 - so if you're in the neighborhood drop by. Bring you own lunch and the Friends will provide water & cookies!

Now on to our spotlight.....

Kathryn J. Bain began writing more than ten years ago. Her first release "Breathless" came out January 13, 2012. Her novella “Game of Hearts” was released in March 2012 followed by her inspirational romantic suspense "Catch Your Breath".
She is the former President of Florida Sisters in Crime and is currently the Public Relations Director and Membership Director for Ancient City Romance Authors.
To survive and pay bills, she has been a paralegal for over twenty years and works for an attorney who specializes in elder law.
She has two daughters and a dog named Gretchen.
Kathryn grew up in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. In 1981, she moved to Boise, but it apparently wasn't far enough south, because two years later she headed Jacksonville, Florida and has lived in the sunshine ever since.

Calley Regan only wants to get through her cousin’s bridal shower without anyone discovering her secret—she’s pregnant. Her sanctimonious family would never understand. Then the one person she confides in happens to tell the incredibly handsome, but seriously uptight, sheriff, Riley Owens—who’s just given her a speeding ticket! How can she trust the brooding, inflexible lawman when he’s everything she’s not? Riley Owens is instantly attracted to Calley Regan, but it won’t come to anything. For years, he’s lived mired in guilt, and carefree Calley is his polar opposite. But, when someone attacks Calley, Riley is determined to protect her no matter what it takes, and when her family deserts her, he takes Calley into his home. Years ago, he couldn’t save the woman he loved. He’s not about to let that happen again.

Catch Your Breath is available now and sounds like another great release from Pelican Book Group!

Well friends, hope you've enjoyed this issue of Saturday Spotlight!

Stay tuned for more updates on my life in a nutshell and more great books and authors.

Until next time....take care and be blessed!

Virtual Blog Tour - Janalyn Voigt!

Hi Friends!

I, along with Kathy Carlton Willis Communications, is pleased to bring to you Janalyn Voigt with her book, Dawn Singer! Janalyn is a fellow Pelican Book Group author and I do believe this is her debut novel! So without much further ado....

Janalyn Voigt’s epic fantasy trilogy, Tales of Faeraven, starting withDawnSinger, is published by Harbourlight Books. Janalyn also writes in the western romance genre. She is represented by Barbara Scott of Wordserve Literary. Her nonfiction publication credits include Focus on the Family, Scripture Press (now David C. Cook) and Pentecostal Evangel. She serves as a literary judge for several national contests and is an active book reviewer. Her memberships include ACFW and NCWA. Janalyn lives in a quiet corner of the Pacific Northwest, where she discovers worlds of adventure in the great outdoors.

CREATING WORLDS OF BEAUTY AND DANGER

Paradoxical Truths Revealed

A new speculative fiction story releases this summer that captures several paradoxical truths, including: freedom comes through sacrifice – AND – victory comes through surrender. allegorical fantasy readers will be spellbound by the incredible imagery and symbolism throughout DawnSinger, authored by Janalyn Voigt. Some of the key points in the book include:

Freedom through sacrifice. When the willful but reverent main character, Shae, learns her secret identity, she has to decide whether to accept her true calling. Although it may cost her everything, the salvation of a nation hangs in the balance. Shae represents the church. We each must lay down our will and our lives to bring freedom to others.

Overcoming prejudice with unity. In DawnSinger, the clash is not over color of skin but between classes of being. Elderland was already inhabited by the Elder nation when the Kindren entered it from another world through a gate that closed behind them. The Elder accepted the Kindren's occupation of Elderland because they didn't want to live in the areas where they settled—areas within reach of garns (goblenesque creatures) and welkes (giant birds of prey). DawnSinger opens as an unknown enemy stirs strife between Kindren and Elder in an attempt to divide and conquer Elderland. As a result, the alliance of Faeraven, a group of Kindren kingdoms ruled by a widowed High Queen, begins to fall apart. This story arc, which spans three novels, is based in large part on Voigt’s father's experiences of prejudice as a half-breed Native American.

Serving rather than ruling. As the High Queen's health fails, Kai, the hero of DawnSinger, must choose whether to reign and rule in his homeland or to continue in service to the new High King at her death. Kai's decision inspires Shae to make her own.

Conquering fear by not letting it consume you. In Pilaer Hold, an ancient place of defeat for the Kindren, wraiths rush toward Kai and Shae's other protectors. They draw their swords, but the more wraiths they dispatch, the more arise. They learn that to defeat fear, something else is needed.

The High Queen is dying... At the royal summons, Shae mounts a wingabeast and soars through the air to the high hold of Faeraven, where all is not as it seems. Visions warn her of danger, and a dark soul touches hers in the night. When she encounters an attractive but disturbing musician, her wayward heart awakens. But then there is Kai, a guardian of Faeraven and of Shae. Secrets bind him to her, and her safety lies at the center of every decision he makes. On a desperate journey fraught with peril and the unknown, they battle warlike garns, waevens, ferocious raptors, and the wraiths of their own regrets. Yet, they must endure the campaign long enough to release the DawnKing—and the salvation he offers—into a divided land. To prevail, each must learn that sometimes victory comes only through surrender.

Dawn Singer is available in Ebook & Print! Also @ Amazon.com and other online outlets.

As with all KCWC blog tours there is a grand prize drawing for a $25 Starbucks gift card and an autographed copy of Dawn Singer!

I've read this book and let me tell you, this is some amazing writing! I'm not much on fantasy and can't even imagine creating whole new worlds but this book grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go. I read it in one day - forgetting all other things I had to do....the setting, descriptions and poetic prose kept me turning pages and I can hardly wait for the second book in the trilogy!

Well friends I certainly hope you enjoy this Virtual Book Tour. Stay tuned for our next Saturday Spotlight this weekend!

Until later...take care & be blessed!

Saturday Spotlight - Jackie Griffey!

Good Morning Friends,

I know I promised you an update on my life in a nutshell but to be honest, there is not much to report. Been doing some promotion, editing a novel, waiting to hear on submissions, still in transition - travelling between TX and LA, hoping to do more speaking & mentoring. Alas, everything takes much more time than I'd like so my new mantra is.... God's will, God's way, God's time - helps me to not get all bent out of shape when things don't go my way in my time LOL! I'm still trying to get better organized and focused and hopefully will be blogging more regular but until then, Saturday Spotlight and an occasional blog tour will go on.

Speaking of, please welcome Jackie Griffey with two of her novels!

Hello fellow readers and writers. I'm a 'southern' author: born in Hot Springs, Arkansas; grew up in Memphis, Tennessee; and now live with my family in Arkansas near Little Rock. All my books but one take place in the south. Though I'm published in several genres my favorites are cozy mysteries and romance/suspense.They are listed on Amazon; B&N and can be ordered from book stores (no S&H if you pick up the book at the Book store, just like Amazon). The only way I heard about this advantage of picking up the book at the store,is a reader came to me with one she'd ordered from B&N andI was glad to see she could do this. Nearly all of my list is available as e-books now. Please come visit my page and blog. You can always find my books here on Amazon so your comments and input is welcome and appreciated.I love meeting fellow readers and writers.)

Saturday Spotlight - LoRee Peery

Hello Friends,

Please welcome friend and fellow White Rose author, LoRee Peery with her new dollar download, Lezlie's Lifeline.

Lezlie Diamond and Jordan Marshall meet again after a disgruntled husband accuses Lezlie of allowing his wife to die. A night security officer at the hospital, Jordan sees Lezlie home safely. Her nervousness tells him she’s holding something back. Jordan was devastated when Lezlie disappeared from his life sixteen years ago. Now she’s back and he discovers her secret: the birth of their son. How can he ever trust her again? The two loves of Lezlie’s life unite. The teen immediately forgives his mother for her secrets and wants to know his father, but dare Jordan follow their son’s example and grant Lezlie a second chance?
EXCERPT:  “Watchmen, what is left of the night?”
“Morning is coming, but also the night.”—Isaiah 21:11-12
Lezlie Diamond waved her hand in front of the automatic door sensor and rushed through. The swish gave way to a rustle of clothing, and something solid hitting the door.
“You didn’t get the doctor in time. I told you my wife was in trouble.”
Car, pedestrian, fatal. I tried.
“Sir, this is a restricted area.” Her heart thumped in her ears. She stopped all forward motion. “Let’s go back to the nurse’s station.”
“It’s your fault she died.” Mr. Hanson used heated hand gestures to accent every word.
The accusation mentally zapped Lezlie into the patient’s room, where the dreaded nightmare event happened moments earlier. The silence had screamed they were too late. Silence except for the flat-line beep. No one breathed. Then, at her “Code Blue!” command, organized chaos ensued. She’d grabbed the crash cart herself. As a team, they attempted CPR, Auto External Defib, Epinephrine, Endotracheal tubes.
Nothing saved the patient.
We can’t revive everyone. God has His say when it comes to life and death.
Back inside the public area, she leaned against the counter above the nurse’s desk. When she caught sight of a night security uniform at the end of the hall, Lezlie drew in a sigh of relief. Desk personnel must have called.
Get your copy of Lezlie's Lifeline today for only $1.00!

A lifelong Nebraskan, LoRee Peery has lived most of her life in the country, where she feels grounded in her sense of place.  She learned to read when she was four and has devoured books since. She values one-on-one time with her grandchildren and loves time spent with other writers.

LoRee clings to the word overcomer and the knowledge she has victory in Jesus. When she considers being set apart as a child of God, she is humbled. She feels closest to the Lord when she worships through singing. And one thing she’s sure of: “Jesus loves me, this I know. And He will never let me go.
Find out more about LoRee by visiting her Website or Face Book Page!

Well friends, that wraps up this edition of Saturday Spotlight - stay tuned next week for another author with more great books!
