#TuesdayTreasures with Vicki Batman

Good Morning and Welcome to another edition of Tuesday Treasures!

Today I'm excited to bring a brand new-to-me and our blog author to share treasures with us.

There are so many things and people in life I treasure. Handsome, the gifts he has given me like a great life together and sparkly pieces. My boys. The ruby ring which once belonged to my mom who passed almost two years ago.

When our children were young, we visited Handsome’s family. On the property was a mama cat with two kittens. Our big cat had crossed the bridge, and the boys were having a blast playing with the babies. “Can we have them, Mom? Please???” I looked at Handsome; he looked at me. We brought both home-a short hair gray, Romper, and a brown fluffy tabby, Scooter.

Once, I overheard a friend of the boys say “let’s play with the pretty one,” meaning Romper. I picked up Scoo and said, “You’re mine.” And she was for 23 years. After Romper passed at seventeen, I knew each day with Scoo would be a treasure.

She liked to be carried against a shoulder, would make a fussy face, would smack my cheek to wake me up, and when that didn’t work, would nibble my nose. She was sweet.

Sadly, she woke up one day and couldn’t move her back legs. At 23, we knew her time had come. Putting her to sleep gave me great anguish. We all miss her.....

Wow Vicki, I can definitely identify with your treasure as I'm sure many of us can. Thank you so much for sharing with us! Tell us a little about yourself and your writing.....

I write romantic comedy! And am so lucky to have my story, “Raving  Beauty” be a part of the Just You and Me boxed set. Here’s a fun blurb:

What if the love of your life was in front of you all along?

It began innocently with a few margaritas… Kelly Stinson is persuaded to represent Yahoo! Ranch Steakhouse in the Chamber of Commerce’s beauty contest. After an unexpected swan dive off stage, her heart goes pitter patter over the orthopedic surgeon who repaired her ripped up ankle.

Daniel Ackerman has always had the hots for his twin sister’s best friend. Much to his dismay, her doctor has taken notice of the dark-haired beauty and invaded his territory. That’s about to change when he moves in to help Kelly recover physically and open her eyes to what’s been in front of her all along.

Hi Vicki,

We do need more romantic comedy in our lives. Your treasure reminds me of our daughter-in-law's beloved cat which died not too long ago. The family still misses her. Like I said, we need more humor and romantic fiction to compensate for real life loss and sorrow. Congrats.

Hi, Jacqueline! So loverly to meet you. I remember reading a mystery that made me laugh and wanted more. Fortunately, a friend introduced me to an author and I gobbled them up. That incident moved me forward into confronting that I wanted to write and fortunately, romantic comedy is a part of me. If you are interested, anyone who signs up for my newsletter gets a fun story from my backlist. Go to: http://www.vickibatman.blogspot.com/

I have also loved and lost a number of fur babies. I still cry over them, but I know I will see them again. Thank goodness for fun stories like yours to help the pain. Be Blessed my friend.

Hi, Phyllis! Having a furry friend for a time is like having a child. I'd always heard that from others, but finally realized it when mourning the loss of my big cat, Snuffer. Time's healing powers are amazing.

Hi, Liese! They are great confidants. My adora-poos are just plain silly, but the laughs cure everything. Thanks for stopping and ox!

What a gift, to have a treasured pet for 23 years! They really do become members of the family.

It's amazing how close those furbabies can be to our hearts. My children have such fond memories of growing up with their fur siblings and when they pass, it's heartbreaking. What a touching tribute!

All the best!

Hi, Angela! Before she passed, I switched her to a new vet and when we went for our checkup, all these people who worked at the vet came out and asked if that was Scooter. I said yes and they told me they had never seen a 23 year old kitty. VBG

Hi, Alina! Having one for so long was like having a child. My youngest was 3 years old!! He grew up with them. Thanks for visiting with me.

Hi, Melissa! I believe my youngest is the more emotional child. He speaks about missing her all the time. It is heartbreaking when they pass. Thank you.

Hi Vicki,

I agree. Losing a beloved cat can be the worst ever. I understand when you say that having an older cat is like having a child. They do become family. And our grown sons now feel the same way.

Take good care!

Hi, Sydell! think losing the cats was hard on #2son as he really grew up with them. He wasn't quite four and that's when they begin making longlasting memories. Many hugs your way, vb

Love romantic comedy. We need more laughter in our lives. I was touched by your story about Scoo. We've had to send our 3 dogs over the Rainbow Bridge. A necessary but painful experience. HUgs.
