#ThursdayThoughts Random Ramblings on Procrastination

Good Morning!

Well, it's official....this year's Annual Open Enrollment period for Medicare is over and if these last few days have taught me anything, it's that I'm not the only person who procrastinates!

Although I try not to :-)

Anyway, I worked 33 hours in the last 3 days.

Piece of cake, some of you say....

Not exactly. I've been working freelance from home, very flexible hours (doesn't matter when I do the work as long as it gets done) for 7 years!

I started my new employment with Curtis Insurance in July but most of the time I only worked 4 or 5 hours a day and most of that was studying for licenses!

These last 3 days was driving all over the Lake area (Lake Charles, Moss Bluff, Westlake and Sulphur), meeting people and presenting plans and talking until my brain is tired and jaw aches LOL!

But it brings to mind the subject of procrastination.

Why do we "put off until tomorrow what can be done today" despite the wise advice by Benjamin Franklin not to do this?!

Over the years serving as a Wife, Mother, Employee while Writing, Editing and Promoting, I've learned it's better to be organized and to do things ASAHP and try my best to do things right the first time. It's a waste of time and energy to half-ass something (excuse the language). I even wrote an article about this very same subject.

Anyway, if you're like one of millions of people everywhere who procrastinate, maybe a resolution for 2017 is to work on improving that bad habit....one small victory at a time.

Something to think about.
Inspirational with an Edge!

Hope you enjoyed today's post and you'll visit each week for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.

Until next time, take care and God bless.

Good topic. You are so right about people waiting until the last minute and missing out. Been there. I try to be organized, but sometimes I do put off something that needs to be done by a certain date and then, when I remember, I find I'm too late. It sounds like you've learned (had to learn) to be organized. I must try it, one of these days.

Pam, you are so right about procrastinating. I try not to but there are days I start with something, then remember something else and before I know it, things aren't getting done. I think it is a form of procrastination.

Here's hoping to better work habits in 2017.

In my "former" life before retirement, as a full-time working mother writing in those "idle" hours from midnight to dawn(!) I learned how to squeeze every second. I actually often dreamed I was literally racing with a clock. I feel your pain! Now, in retirement, life is a bit less stressful...unless I am writing...sigh. Best wishes for your New Year's resolution!

There are certain things I cannot stop procrastinating on, while others I am uber organized. Drives me crazy, lol.

Hi Pam,

I'm very impressed with all you're accomplishing!

You'd be surprised how many forms 'procrastination' takes, Kayden.

What we do for this writing dream, huh Susan.

I guess it does, Maureen LOL!

Thanks Jacquie and thank you ALL for stopping by.
Good luck and God's blessings

If only I had more hours in the day! I need to become a list fanatic! Good post.

When I had full time employment, Pamela, I never procrastinated. Now that I'm retired and can write whenever I want, I'm the worst procrastinator in the world. I have no explanation.
