#TuesdayTreasure: Vacation Memories

Good Morning Friends,

Back in September I took a vacation trip which included South Carolina, Savannah, GA and Ocala, FL. Since my calendar has been booked for Tuesday Treasures up until now, I thought I'd share a few vacation memories with you.

While in SC we stayed at the lovely Santee State Park, located on beautiful Lake Marion. The weather fluctuated between sunshine and rain, but we did get some time out on the water. We also had dinner and music at the Lonestar BarBQue and Mercantile. I'll tell you this much, I've eaten plenty BBQ in my life, but SC's idea is a whole different spectrum compared to TX! Still we had a great time.

On the way out of SC, we visited the Frampton Plantation House with it's majestic Oak trees and historical memorabilia.

Although SC was beautiful and I hope to visit again and maybe go further into the state and possibly even NC, my favorite part of the trip was Savannah, GA. We took an Old Towne Trolley Tour of the city which began and ended at the Central of GA Railroad Museum and Visitor Center. This all day tour enables you to get on and off at different stops and visit several historic landmarks including the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and the famous Leopold's Ice Cream Shop. We had lunch at The Pirate House then went on a Ghosts and Gravestone's tour that evening!

We didn't get to see all I'd like to have seen but all in all, the day spent in Savannah, GA was worth it's weight in gold! This lovely old city is definitely on my list of places to return to when I have more time to explore.

Next stop, Ocala, Florida. We arrived on Thursday afternoon and on Friday we drove to Homosassa-Springs Wildlife State Park and saw live (and not) Manatees!

Despite many miles and hours on the road, this vacation was one I'll treasure forever!

Hope you enjoyed reliving the memories with me.

Have a Blessed and Prosperous day!

Your descriptions make me want to visit as well! Sounds like you had a great trip. Material for another book perhaps?

If you do visit, I'll almost guarantee you won't be disappointed.

My daughter lives in SC and I highly recommend you explore it further--much to see and do. Nice post.

I absolutely love Savannah! It has so much character! And it is one of the most haunted cities in the US, or so they told us. We took a tour, too. I'm not sure if it was the same one or not. And we visited a plantation. If you do get back that way, we loved the tour of the fort on Tybee Island (connected to Savannah by a bridge), much better than the expensive tour to Fort Sumter, which was kind of a dud. :) Thanks for sharing your memories with us! I enjoyed reading about your travels!
