Saturday Spotlight - Judith Rochelle

Well Friends, hope your Thanksgiving was Blessed and Happy!
Today we're spotlighting fellow TWRP author, Judith Rochelle (aka: Desiree Holt) and her book On the Run.
Judith lives in the Hill Country of Texas where most of her hunky cowboys come from. Her real love is Texas, where so many of my stories are set. She's had a lot of firsts in her life – first female sports report on The Michigan Daily at the University of Michigan; first woman to own a rock and roll agency in Detroit, the home of Motown; first woman president of the Pasco (Florida) Economic Development Council. Her background is so varied it’s given her a lot of experiences to choose from when plotting stories. She's been an insurance agent, newspaper reporter, a public relations and special events coordinator, managed rock and Top 40 bands, worked for both a public and private university, chaired regional economic development councils and served on political campaign committees. When Judith is not writing she's an avid reader – anything and everything – and watches football, especially her favorite team, the Michigan Wolverines.
Blurb for On the Run: When Robin Fleming witnesses the murder of her sister, Jamie, her only thought is to grab her nephew and run, from her vicious brother-in-law. Running and hiding, covering their tracks, they eventually settle in Memphis to begin a new life. Robin, now Laura, though still grieving for her sister, is determined to make a good life for her nephew. Then illness hits Andy, and while Laura is dealing with that crisis, bad luck and unfortunate circumstances bring all the players together again and endanger everyone’s lives. Can Dr. Gage Hollander, who has fallen in love with Laura, find a way to save them?
Excerpt: Taking the highway into Oregon might have been easier on her, but she was sure that was the first route C.D. would check. Instead, she cut east immediately into Idaho. Besides evading C.D., she had a specific reason for coming this way. Tomorrow they'd get to Helena, where she had important business to take care of. Things that would help keep her and Bobby safe.

Robin had only a vague idea of how long they'd been driving but it felt as if she'd been doing it forever. Her eyes were gritty from lack of sleep and her muscles rigid with tension. It didn't help that she was constantly watching for some car to run her off the road. She'd been lucky enough to find a couple of drive-through's where she fueled up with coffee. Caffeine raced through her system like a wild horse, revving her up and making her edgy.

She slid a glance at Bobby, wrapped in a blanket and buckled into his car seat. What a lucky thing he was sleeping so heavily. Still, she knew they needed to find a bed pretty soon. And food. Starvation wouldn't be a pretty way to die.

By the time they reached Kellogg, Idaho, she was more than ready to stop. She pulled gratefully into a motel whose sign blinked ‘Vacancy' in big red letters. It was the most welcoming site Robin had seen in a long time.
All proceeds of On the Run will be donated to Victim’s Advocacy Office of SAFamilies, San Antonio Police Department.

What's Going on in MY World

Hello Friends,

When I consider what to blog about, I try and post something that would be of interest to many.... places where readers and authors connect, author spotlights, etc.

Today I thought I'd just drop by and fill you in on what's happening in my world.

On a personal note, you may or may not know that I am the grandmother of two beautiful children. My Angel Girl, Bryanna is 4 (5 in March) and "Baby Sean" will be 3 in April. I must admit I never beleived the saying, "there's nothing like being a grandparent" until I became one...and yes THERE'S NOTHING LIKE IT!

The great news is I'm going to be a grandmother again! My daughter is almost 3 months along now and we're hoping for a little brother for Bryanna.

On a professional note, my Agent has also accepted my gift book to pitch! I'm so happy about this!! Love is a Rose parallells the love of God and the Christian life to the words of The Rose, written by Amanda McBroom and performed by Conway Twitty and Bette Midler.

I'll be sure and keep you posted on what happens with the projects he pitches.

Bayou Writers Group's Anuual Fall Conference on the 15th was a smashing success! I was going to write a whole post about it, but my fellow BWG members beat me to it. Visit Nona, Mindy or Jess's blog to find out more. One of our guests also blogged about the conference!

Well Friends, that's about all the news for now. Today I'm guest blogging @ Simply Romance Reviews Blog so if you get a chance run over there and check it out.

Saturday Spotlight this week will be Judith Rochelle and her book, On the Run.

Hope you'll drop by and check out this great book.

IMW, have a BLESSED and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Saturday Spotlight - Julie Lessman!

Hello Again!

Time for another Saturday Spotlight.

Today I'd like to introduce to you a wonderful lady and fellow author, Juile Lessman who has garnered much writing acclaim, including ten Romance Writers of America awards. She resides in Missouri with her husband and their golden retriever, and has two grown children and a daughter-in-law. She is the author of The Daughters of Boston series, which includes A Passion Most Pure, A Passion Redeemed, and A Passion Denied. You can visit Julie at her Web site at http://www.julielessman.com/.

Book one in the series revolves around Faith O'Connor. She’s found the love of her life. Unfortunately, he loves her sister.

As World War I rages across the Atlantic in 1916, a smaller war is brewing in Boston. Faith O’Connor finds herself drawn to an Irish rogue who is anything but right for her. Collin McGuire is brash, cocky, and from the wrong side of the tracks, not to mention forbidden by her father. And then there’s the small matter that he is secretly courting her younger sister. But when Collin’s affections suddenly shift her way, it threatens to tear Faith’s proper Boston family apart.

Book 1 of the Daughters of Boston series, A Passion Most Pure will carry your heart from the sophisticated streets of Boston to the green hills of Ireland as men go off to war and women long for their return. Full of passion, romance, rivalry, and betrayal, it will captivate you from the first page.

Book 2 is about Faith's sister, Charity. Depth of beauty … shallow of heart, Charity O’Connor is a woman who gets what she wants. She sets her sights on a man who wants nothing to do with her, and although the sparks are there, he refuses to fan the coals of a potential relationship with a woman who ruined his life. Charity burned him once, destroying his engagement to the only woman he ever truly loved. He won’t play with matches again. But Charity has a plan to turn up the heat, hoping to ignite the heart of the man she loves. And she always gets what she wants—one way or another.

Well folks, if you like historical romances, these are two must reads!

That's it for this week's Saturday Spotlight. Stay tuned next week when we meet author Judith Rochelle!

Don't forget to run over to Elaine Cantrell's Blog and check out my interview.

Tuesday I'll be guest blogging at Simply Romance Reviews - hope to see you there!

Until later...take care, God Bless and remember...The One whose Passion saved us from sin!

Publishing Company Gives Back

Hello Friends,

As you all know, I am very proud and pleased to be a part of The Wild Rose Press. Their acceptance of my novel The Inheritance and my short stories, Cathy's Angel, Choices and A Hero for Jessica has been an exciting part of my life and career and I'm constantly impressed with the quality of work they publish.
Below you'll find a letter from Rhonda Penders sent to all who are associated with TWRP about a very special release, On the Run by Judith Rochelle.
This is just one more reason I'm proud to be a TWRP author!
Judith Rochelle, is one of our multipublished authors at The WildRose Press as well as a personal friend. In late summer, 2007 I approached her with an idea of a project that would enable RJ and me to give something back for all the wonderful things that had happened to us since we opened in May 2006. I wanted to find an organization that I felt everyone, everywhere would care about and really embrace. While many qualified, the one that kept coming back to my mind was St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

A few days later, Judith created a synopsis and a proposal for a book incorporating romance, suspense and St. Jude's. It took my breath away at what she'd come up with. Judith wrote the book, RJ and I edited it, and Kim Mendoza did the beautiful cover. None of us, including the publishing company, will receive any compensation; every penny will go to St. Jude's. Children's Hospital.

The result of this, is the amazing Crimson Rose book called "On the Run" by Judith Rochelle. The book will be offered in both print and electronic format. The amount raised will be announced on our website twice a year. The first report to be posted at the end of June 2008.

If you've purchased this book, thank you for your contribution to St. Jude's, if you haven't purchased it yet, I strongly encourage you to do so. The download is $5.00 and will go into a special fund to be donated to St. Jude's twice a year.

If you would like more information on this project, you may contact Rhonda Penders at rpenders@thewildrosepress.com.

To learn more about the author, please visit http://www.judithrochelle.com/.

To see the amazing work St. Jude's does, please visit their web site at http://www.stjude.org/.
Thank you for your support of this important project. Rhonda Penders
Please pass this information on to everyone you know and purchase your copy today and help support St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Thank You, Friends.
Until later...Be BLESSED!
