#ThursdayThoughts Random Ramblings on the Weather....

Good Morning!

I pray you all survived the storms that have passed through lately. We had a cold front come through on Sat/Sun and another yesterday. With that, lots and lots of rain...thunder, lightning, the works.

Now I'm not a fan of cold weather at all, especially in May for crying out loud!

However, we haven't had enough 'winter' to cool the Gulf waters which means hurricane season could be a doozy.

So as much as we may not like freezing in May, (okay not freezing by normal standards but anything below 70 is freezing to me LOL!) I'm hoping/praying/believing this is God's way of putting a hedge of protection around us to prevent a terrible hurricane season.

But what do I know?

I'm not even sure this front is enough to cool the Gulf waters!

Isn't that what faith is all about though? Believing in something you don't know and evidence of things unseen?

Something to think about!

Thursday Thoughts: Facing the Giants in Our Lives

We’ve all heard the story of David and Goliath but many of us aren’t so bold in our faith that we would tackle the job of fighting an actual giant.

Or so we imagine.

If you think about it, we face giants every day…..

We come up against giants of health issues, financial burdens, and relationship woes.

We wrestle with temptation and forgiveness.

We penetrate walls of anger, and scale mountains of gloom, despair and misery.

Giants, every one when it comes to exercising and building our faith.

So how are some ways we can face and overcome these?

Prayer: This goes without saying but how and what kind of praying? IMHO the best is when you find a scripture that addresses with what you’re dealing with. Personalize it and stand firm!

Affirmations: Write and speak positive statements of resolution about your situation. Words have power and some say the written word is much more powerful. Don’t focus on the problem; focus on the answer or desired outcome!

Forgiveness: Sometimes the best way to deal with the giants in your life is to forgive…others, yourself, God.

Meditation: Take time to get quiet and listen to and appreciate the silence. Once your mind is quiet, God can speak to you.

Stay in the NOW: There is great comfort, peace and power is staying in the present. After all, many of our ‘giants’ are actually thoughts from our past or anxiety about the future. The bible tells us that “now” is the time of salvation and that “now faith” is the substance of things hoped for….It’s OK to think, dream and plan for the future but not to the point of missing the blessings in your present (moment).

Thursday Thoughts: Comfort

Everyone has their own idea of comfort and what/whom they turn to when they need comforting......

A burst of sunshine through dark clouds.
Rainbow after the storm.
A hot cup of coffee while listening to the pitter patter of raindrops on a tin roof.
A hug from your dearest friend or soul mate.
A warm blanket and good movie.
Chocolate, wine and ice cream.
The ebb and flow of 'normal' when circumstances are anything but.

But how often does life challenge us to step out of our comfort zone and what do you do when it does?

If you've known or followed me for long, you understand my first (well, sometimes the last) resort is to pray. The second part to that equation is surrender and third to trust.

God has it all under control.

So the next time you're feeling out of sorts and in need of a little comfort, get alone with Him and allow the lover of your soul to comfort you in a way no other can.
