#SaturdaySpotlight: Stacy Juba & Fooling Around With Cinderella

Good Morning and Welcome to another edition of Saturday Spotlight.

Today we welcome Stacy Juba back to our blog with her title, Fooling Around With Cinderella, Storybook Valley #1.

What happens when the glass slippers pinch Cinderella's toes?

When Jaine Andersen proposes a new marketing role to the local amusement park, general manager Dylan Callahan charms her into filling Cinderella’s glass slippers for the summer. Her reign transforms Jaine’s ordinary life into chaos that would bewilder a fairy godmother. Secretly dating her bad boy boss, running wedding errands for her ungrateful sisters, and defending herself from the park’s resident villain means Jaine needs lots more than a comfy pair of shoes to restore order in her kingdom. First in the Storybook Valley series, a blend of sweet romance, chick lit, and fairy tale fun.

Excerpt:
Dylan scrutinized Jaine, arms folded across his royal blue shirt with the Storybook Valley logo stamped over the left in white block letters. “Do you wear contacts?”
“I have plenty of media contacts. Wait. Did you say wear contacts? You mean instead of these?” Jaine fingered the earpiece of her gold-rimmed glasses.
“Right. Contact lenses.”
She gave a nervous chuckle. “I scheduled a consultation in college, but was too squeamish to insert the lens. I was more comfortable in glasses.”
Was she really justifying her vision enhancement choices to her prospective new boss? Maybe he intended to discuss medical benefits. Or did he think she looked nerdy? What was the saying? Guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses? Not that she wanted him to make a pass even if he was hot.
“How blind are you without glasses?” Dylan persisted.
“You wouldn’t want to drive with me.”
“How about if you’re walking around a building? Are you in danger of hurting yourself?”
This interview had taken the Mad Hatter Freeway from Fairy Tale Land into Wonderland where nothing made a damn bit of sense. Did this guy have a glasses fetish, like those weirdoes with shoe fetishes?
“I should be okay. I take them off for special occasions.” In fact, Jaine’s older sister Bree, who was getting married in August, remarked just last week, “You are losing the glasses for my wedding pictures, right?”
What the hell. She’d be a good sport and hope Dylan would be so grateful to pick the brain of a real, flesh and blood, bespectacled person that he would appoint her marketing director. Jaine removed her glasses and the fine details of her surroundings fuzzed. She nodded toward the framed print hanging on a side wall, the picture a wash of symbols and colors. “I can tell that’s a park map, but the words and images smear together.”
And that was myopia in a nutshell. Jaine adjusted her glasses back into place so she could see his reaction. Dylan examined her with such intensity that a blush stained her cheeks. She patted her blonde French braid, in case stray strands were straggling out.
“Here’s the situation,” Dylan said. “I took over the general manager position a few months ago. I’m evaluating possible changes and researching how other theme parks run. My grandfather and father have worked with a marketing firm for years to create our brochures, billboards, print, and radio ads.”
Jaine’s shoulders caved, imperceptible to him, but it felt as if her whole body was sinking.
No fairy tale job ending for her.

Sounds like a fun, romantic story! Fooling Around With Cinderella, Storybook Valley #1 can be purchased at Amazon for Kindle and in Paperback, at B&N (Nook); Google Play, Kobo, iBookstore and Smashwords.

Stacy Juba got engaged at Epcot Theme Park and spent part of her honeymoon at Disneyland Paris, where she ate a burger, went on fast rides, and threw up on the train ride to the hotel. In addition to working on her new Storybook Valley chick lit/sweet romance series, Stacy has written books about ice hockey, teen psychics, U.S. flag etiquette for kids, and determined women sleuths.

She has had a novel ranked as #5 in the Nook Store and #30 on the Amazon Kindle Paid List. #SaturdaySpotlight: Stacy Juba (@StacyJuba) & Teddy Bear Town Children’s Bundle

Good Morning and Welcome!

Today we welcome back to our spotlight, Stacy Juba with her Teddy Bear Town Children’s Bundle of books!

Stacy has been here a time or two before, so I'll spare you the fanfare and get right into the featured books spotlighted!

Immerse your child in the sweet and gentle world of teddy bears with three complete picture books.  Each of these bedtime stories is fully illustrated with simple and cheerful colored pencil illustrations of teddy bear families, giving the whimsical effect of a completed coloring book. The following titles are featured:

The Flag Keeper - Elizabeth may be a little bear, but she treats the American flag with big respect. After Dad leaves for a trip, Elizabeth pledges to raise the flag all by herself and follow all of the flag etiquette rules that her father has taught her. However, her dad never told her what to do if the flag gets dirty or the police show up. Teaches children about U.S. flag etiquette through a fiction story, flag facts, activity idea, and discussion questions. For ages 4-9. Also available in paperback and endorsed by directors of the national VFW and American Legion Posts.

Victoria Rose and the Big Bad Noise - Victoria loves her home and family, but boy does she hate the noises that invade her daily life. Her imagination transforms the blender into a growling bear, the vacuum cleaner into a lion and the lawnmower into a spaceship filled with monsters. With the help of a CD player, she decides that maybe a nasty noise like the blender is just music that doesn't know how to sing. This sweet bedtime story can help young children learn that household noises aren't so scary after all. For ages 3 and up.

Sticker Shoes - When Jenny gets a sticker stuck to her shoe, she has a new invention - Sticker Shoes! She covers her sneakers with shiny sparkling stickers and runs outside to try out her beautiful shoes. Unfortunately, Sticker Shoes aren't meant for rough and tumble play in the dirt and her invention doesn't last. Jenny makes her way through her closet, trying on old boots, dress-up shoes and slippers in her hunt for the perfect Sticker Shoe. Teaches young children about problem-solving and taking the first early "steps" toward independence. For ages 3 and up.

Don't miss the lively Audible edition performed by popular children's book narrator Bill Russell, who brings the stories to life with his lively narration and performance on a toy piano.

Excerpt from The Flag Keeper: Elizabeth barreled down the steps into the garage. After today, her flag would be stuck on a vacation to nowhere. She had to raise it one last time. She tripped on the stairs and landed hard on her knees. "Ouch!"

"What’s your hurry?" her father asked. "The flag won’t climb the pole without you."

"But the bus will be here any minute, Dad." Elizabeth grabbed the folded flag off its shelf.

She carried it to the front yard like one of Mom’s best dishes. Her father was leaving for a business trip the next day, which meant no flag until he got home. Elizabeth couldn’t bear the sight of a naked flagpole. She woke up the flag in the morning and put it to bed at night. That had been her prized job since she was little.

Sounds like a GREAT Christmas present for the children in your life! Teddy Bear Town Children’s Bundle can be purchased at Amazon  Barnes & Noble  iTunes  & Audible!

Dawn has been psychic since she was seven and has always considered herself an outcast. Even her mother discourages her talent, so Dawn has kept her abilities quiet and feared a lifetime of loneliness. When she gets involved with a fortuneteller and two teenage girls who share her mysterious perception, Dawn finally belongs to a group. As her intuition strengthens, so does Dawn’s self-esteem. However, when she learns her friends may be tied to two bizarre murders, she has a choice to make – continue developing the talent that makes her special, or challenge the only people who have ever accepted her.

Excerpt: Dawn Christian curled under the covers, shivering in her nightshirt. Goosebumps popped up on her bare arms. She breathed in and out, trying to calm herself. Even the safety of darkness couldn't hide it.
Something was wrong.
She knew it the same way she had known it would rain despite the weather report. Now gray clouds blistered outside the window.
I can't go, I can't go, I can't go, something bad's going to happen. Dawn rubbed between her eyebrows, the message flying around inside her brain like a loose pinball.
The red numbers of her alarm clock flickered to 6:29. Dawn rolled onto her other side and faced the wall. In an hour, she'd be starting her junior year at a lame new high school. She missed Boston and taking the T, the city’s subway system, wherever she wanted to go. Dawn used to hang out at museums, watch the college kids in Harvard Square and read books at the Common. Sometimes, she and her mother caught Saturday matinees in the theater district.
Not anymore. Ever since the wedding in July, Dawn had been stuck in Covington, Maine, a beach town overflowing with rinky dink carnival rides, cheesy souvenir stores and bad vibrations.
"Dawn?" She turned to find her mother framed in the dimly lit doorway, fully dressed. "Are you coming down for breakfast?"
"I'm not hungry."
"Nervous about school?"
Gulping, Dawn huddled under the blankets. No way could she discuss her feeling with her mom. Her mother wanted a normal daughter who was on the basketball team or school newspaper, had friends and didn’t live in fear. "Kind of."
Her mother lowered herself onto the bed and squeezed Dawn’s hand. Her manicured pink nails shone against Dawn’s pale skin. Since meeting Jeff eight months ago, Dawn's mother had been letting her curly hair hang loose and wearing makeup.
She smoothed back a tangle of Dawn’s chestnut waves. "You don’t look like yourself. Do you feel all right?"
"I’m fine." Dawn shoved her stuffed monkey, Buddy, further under the blankets. Her father gave her Buddy shortly before he died, and holding it was like hugging a piece of her dad. Still, sleeping with a toy monkey was kiddish and Dawn didn’t do it often. Her mother would get suspicious if she noticed.
Darn it. Her mother drew out Buddy by his slender tail and patted his furry brown head. "Calling in the reinforcements, huh? What’s on your mind, honey? Maybe I can help."
Dawn sat up and clasped her knees. Her mother never understood about Dawn’s hunches. "I don’t think you really want to know, Mom."
"Of course I do."
Yeah, right. But Dawn didn’t have the stamina for lying today. "I’m getting one of my premonitions. Something’s wrong. I think it has to do with school."
She waited and sure enough, her mother got the frightened look she’d worn too many times before. Dawn remembered the look that terrible night with Mrs. Frazier ... but she didn’t want to think about that.

#SaturdaySpotlight: Stacy Juba & Faceoff!

Good Morning and once again, Welcome to Saturday Spotlight!

Today our friend, Stacy Juba is returning once more with yet another great title.

Brad’s twin brother T.J. has gotten himself out of the fancy prep school his father picked for him and into the public high school Brad attends. Now T.J., the bright light in his father’s eyes, is a shining new star on the hockey team where Brad once held the spotlight. And he’s testing his popularity with Brad’s friends, eyeing Brad’s girl and competing to be captain of the team. The whole school is rooting for a big double-strength win…not knowing that their twin hockey stars are heating up the ice for a winner takes all face-off. Originally published when the author was 18 years old.

Excerpt: As Mrs. McKendrick and Chris followed Jory into the living room, Brad and T.J. stared at each other. Finally, T.J. said, "Look, you've been ticked at me since practice. You're mad that I got made cocaptain aren't you? Come on," T.J. said when Brad didn't respond. "I've got just as much right to it as you do."
Brad scoffed. "Hardly. I've been slaving on that team since I was a freshman."
"So? It's not like I've never played the game before."
"It doesn't matter. I've been playing for Bayview for three years and you haven't even played one game for them!"
"Look, it's not my fault that I got yanked out of Hayden! I didn't ask to go to Bayview. You think I wanted to leave all my friends and go to a new school? It's hard enough going there without you acting like such a jerk."
  "You're the one who's acting like a jerk, T.J."
"You're just afraid that I'm going to do better than you, and you can't take it!"
"Are you kidding? You may be Dad's precious genius, but you're never going to be better than me at hockey. And if you think I'm playing on a line with you, you're crazy. So let's just see who Reynolds sends down a line, T.J.," Brad challenged his brother.
"Yeah, well have fun playing with McCann," T.J. snapped.
Brad shoved his brother into the refrigerator, and T.J. promptly pushed him back. They were grappling with each other when their father strode into the room and ripped them apart.
"What on earth is going on in here?" Mr. McKendrick demanded, his face red.
  "Nothing," Brad said.
  "Nothing?" Mr. McKendrick asked.
"Nothing other than the fact that T.J. is an obnoxious jerk."
"Hey, you're the one who's threatening to quit the line," T.J. said.
"I'm not threatening to quit the line. I'm threatening to get you kicked off it."
T.J.'s green eyes flashed. "Go to hell!"
"Look, I don't know what this is about," their father began, "but you two have an obligation to your teammates. You can't just go back on that because of personal differences."
  "He started it," T.J. said.
"I don't care who started it. I just want it stopped."

Face-Off can be purchased at Amazon, B&N, Kobo,  Audible and iBookstore

#SaturdaySpotlight: @StacyJuba & Sink or Swim!

Good Morning and Welcome to the last Saturday Spotlight of August....Yeah hard to believe, right!

Today I'm pleased to welcome back to our spotlight, Stacy Juba with her book, Sink or Swim.

A fun beach read endorsed by contestants from Survivor, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race. Ambitious personal trainer Cassidy Novak has gained fame for starring on Sink or Swim, a hit reality show. Not only does she lose and have to walk the plank, but after the game show ends, the terror begins. Upon returning home, Cassidy discovers she has attracted a stalker masterminding his own twisted game. She struggles to focus on her health club job and celebrity endorsement opportunities, but her stalker has other plans. As her former competitors get knocked off one-by-one, Cassidy refuses to play by the stalker's bizarre rules. She's also being shadowed by hunky photographer Zach Gallagher, who has been assigned to capture her personal moments for a spread in the local newspaper. She wants to trust Zach, but fears he may not be what he seems. When the stalker forces a showdown, Cassidy must once again walk the plank...this time for her life.

 Excerpt:
"As you can see, you’re a big hit." Lynn waved toward the guests murmuring and sneaking glances from round tables festooned with drinks and appetizers. "You’ll sign autographs in here and our staff will be sure to keep the line orderly."
Good to know, but Cassidy half-wished she’d jumped out of the limo a few miles back at Castle Island, a spacious urban park and her favorite spot in Boston. She loved walking or jogging around Castle Island and the peaceful Pleasure Bay, enjoying views of the ferries and vessels passing in the harbor, the low airplanes descending toward Logan International Airport, and the tourists milling about the historic Fort Independence. She’d give anything for a hotdog and ice cream at Sullivan’s, the popular family-run restaurant that serviced visitors. Alas, she’d get no relaxation today.
As Lynn conferred with a co-worker, Cassidy turned to her own personal news team. "Boy, does this beat the Atlantic Devil in the luxury department," she muttered.
"No kidding." Alison scrawled into her wire-bound notebook. With her sleek helmet of blonde locks and designer wardrobe, she looked more like a TV anchorwoman than a small-town newspaper reporter.
Zach Gallagher, her photographer, pulled his Nikon digital camera out of a padded bag and removed the felt Stetson from his wavy black hair. "I wouldn’t mind taking a trip on this baby myself." His flash blinked, triggering a half-dozen cameras from other parts of the ballroom.
"Cassidy! Cassidy!" An acne-scarred young man rushed over to them. Lank greasy blond strands hung ragged past his shoulders, limp as a used mop, and a torn tee-shirt with Cassidy's blurred likeness fell to the waist of his ripped jeans.
He cupped a camera to his heart. "Please, could I pose for one picture with you? I know this is a huge favor, but I can’t stay that long."
Lynn gave her a subtle nod. "Yeah, sure," Cassidy said.
She positioned herself beside the kid and Lynn snapped the photo with a cheerful "cheese."
His lip trembling, the kid stared at Cassidy. "You don't know what this means to me. You should have won. Reggie was a loser."

How could he say that? Reggie was dead. There were more important things than winning. Like living.

Sink or Swim is available at  Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iBookstore, Kobo, & Audible

Now about the book....

Twenty-Five Years Ago Today: Should we dig for the truth when Pandora's Box is a coffin of buried secrets? For twenty-five years, Diana Ferguson's killer has gotten away with murder. When rookie obit writer and newsroom editorial assistant Kris Langley investigates the cold case of the artistic young cocktail waitress who was obsessed with Greek and Roman mythology, not only does she fall in love with Diana's sexy nephew, but she must also fight to stay off the obituary page herself. Get in on the secret - join thousands of readers in discovering who killed Diana Ferguson.

Excerpt:
Cheryl came up behind Kris. Her voice sounded sad and tired. "Please don't tell my mother too much, even if you're making progress. I don't want to raise her hopes."

Kris glanced back at Irene, who hunched on the couch, turning the locket over in her hand. "I'll be careful with what I say. My aunt would've been eager, too."

"How was your cousin killed?"

"She was strangled, kidnapped by a neighbor while walking alone. We were twelve."

Cheryl heaved a sigh. "I'm sorry. I remember reading about that. It happened locally, didn't it?"

"Yes."

"I know you're a terrific writer. I couldn't have been happier with the business story. I'm just concerned about my mother."

"I understand," Kris said. "I won't let you down."

She trudged out to her car and brushed off her windshield. She waited behind the steering wheel as the defroster warmed the interior. Not knowing Diana's whereabouts must have tormented Irene. Kris's family had agonized over Nicole's disappearance. As one day blended into the next, Nicole had seemed further and further away.

Finding her was worse.

Kris had learned a new phrase that May, a litany that surged back into her mind, drumming to the beat of the windshield wipers. If only.

If only it hadn't rained the afternoon Nicole had disappeared.

If only she hadn't climbed into the car with Randolph Coltraine.

If only Aunt Susan had been home when Nicole called for a ride.

Kris swallowed the metallic taste in her mouth. If only I didn't trick her.

She chose the long route home, driving fast. She hadn't driven in New York and had forgotten the thrill of a climbing speedometer. Her first week back, she'd landed a speeding ticket.

Kris skidded onto the Fremont State College campus, her tires kicking up tufts of snow. She passed dorms, tennis courts and the library before parking in front of the deserted baseball field. White trees cast shapeless shadows across the broad expanse of snow.

A chunk of ice slid off the roof, hitting the front window. Kris jumped, her hand to her heart.

"No one's out there," she murmured, gazing into the woods. "Not now."

But once.

Beyond those trees, Diana had lain dead.

Police had crowded the scene, their search over.

Middle-aged reporter Dex Wagner had scribbled in his notebook.

Twenty-five years ago today.

Wow, sounds like an intriguing story! Twenty-Five Years Ago Today can be purchased at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Audible and iBookstore. Find out more about the book HERE!
