Yep I'm in my home away from home town for a few days. Drove up Saturday and having a blast catching up with my Bandera peeps.
Today's guest is new to our blog so please welcome Kimberly Miller as she shares some treasures with us....
Welcome Kimberly!
I started writing stories when I was in junior high. A new friend introduced me to the idea that—with a little imagination—we could write about anything we wanted to and even insert ourselves into the stories as strong, fun, funny, insightful young ladies who always came out on top. We’d read these stories to one another over the phone almost on a daily basis, giggling the entire time. I’m fairly certain that during these years I was rarely without a notebook, and I was constantly on the hunt for great story ideas.
Although my friendships have grown and changed over the years I look fondly back to these times when I learned that storytelling wasn’t only important, it was as essential to me as breathing. Now my friendships often allow me to share my stories before or even immediately after publication. I treasure these wonderful people who encourage me to do what I believe God intended for me all along. And of course, I’m especially grateful to my friend Vanessa who opened up the world of storytelling for me in such a fun and exciting way.
My first novel, Picking Daisy, has already received wonderful reviews, and new friends and old offered loads of encouragement as they asked when my next book would be coming. Well, lucky for them Forgiving Tess released earlier this month! I’m excited to continue sharing stories with my friends, family, fans and readers from all over the country and have truly enjoyed getting to know other writers along the way too.
Happy reading, friends!

Kimberly,
Congrats on the publication of your novel! The first is always special. Wishing you much success.
I have fond memories of trading stories with a high school friend, too, and am so grateful for all those friends who've read my work and encouraged me along the way. Those early experiences of learning we have a story to tell and that others will take an interest are so important in the life of a writer!
Writing friends are the best! Wishing you great success with your new book!
Wonderful hearing how you got your writing start trading stories. I am currently reading Forgiving Tess, and I do love the back-and-forth between your main characters! I keep hoping they'll walk into my kitchen and share a cup of coffee.
I treasure my writing friends as well...so much! What a fun story about how you first started writing. I didn't have friends who wrote stories back then, but I did have friends who borrowed the stories I wrote in English class and passed them off as their own because I always got an A+, LOL. Your book sounds wonderful...blessings and best wishes!
You reminded me of the good times my girlfriend and I had reading each others' stories. Such fun. Best wishes on your new release.
Thank you all for your kind words- and for sharing your own stories and memories too! I really love writing stories and sharing them with others. It was a lot of fun to think how much impact that one friendship has had on my life.
Thanks for hosting me, Pamela!
I love reading about how authors started writing, probably because I waited so long to begin. Congratulations on your new book. May you enjoy lots of sales.
