#TuesdayTreasures: Undercover Boss

Good Morning Friends,

When I first saw an advertisement for the show Undercover Boss years ago, I thought... Another stupid reality show.

UGH

I am fed up with "reality" TV and the ignorance most portray. I mean, seriously, who really cares what some washed up celebrity or rich brat of washed up celebrity's life is like?

IMHO, too much pettiness, bullshit and drama....3 things I try to avoid LOL!

Anyway, this series has been going strong for 7 seasons now and, as a huge fan of Super Soul Sunday, I discovered it on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) and let me tell you, I am hooked!

To see some of the country's top CEO's go undercover to get an honest feel of what goes on in their company is sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking but always ends with these executive officers getting a taste of what the "working class" really do for them.

The gifts this brings to both parties is awesome.

I've always said when I win the lottery I want to be an Angel Investor. Until that time I'll live vicariously through and learn from the Undercover Bosses of the world.

So if you're in the mood for a "feel good cry" watch Undercover Boss...I'm confident you'll enjoy it too.

And if you're a CEO of a corporation out there, stage your own version of Undercover Boss. Get to know your employees on the ground level, learn their stories, the hardship many endure and the joy they bring to your company. Who knows, you may come out of the experience much richer for doing so.

Something to think about!

I don't watch this show on a regular basis, but when I accidentally come across it, I stay and watch it because, as you said, it's wonderful to see CEOs and business owners discover the amount of work it takes to do a job and how the enthusiasm (or lack of it) shown by employees can make or break a business. And I love it when the "boss" rewards those employees who are doing so much for his (or her) business.

I've seen the show once or twice, but in general I rarely watch reality TV. But it reminds me of the old advice, If you want to learn a business, start at the bottom and work your way up. Then you know everything you need to know.

Also, I like your new photo at the top of the blog.

I love that part of the show too, Maris! It is so encouraging to see these people willing to reward their employees AND make changes to benefit all of them.

That IS great advice, Susan but many of these people never really worked in those jobs....they have no clue but it's wonderful what they learn...about their employees AND themselves. Glad you like the new header...was ready for a change :-)

Thanks for dropping by ladies!
Good luck and God's Blessings to you both.

I haven't watched it myself, but my husband has and thinks it's excellent. He's told me about several of the shows and they are interesting.

I have watched this show many times and enjoy it. Some of the stories are heartbreaking, but isn't it nice to see the bosses get out from behind their desks and interact with their employees, even on a devious level. Most are surprised with what they find. I admit I watch a few reality shows and love Dancing With the Stars.

If you ever get a chance, watch is Jacque...it's time well spent (well unless like me you watch several episodes back to back when you (I) could be writing LOL!)

Yeah, Carole, it is a great show. Must admit I'm not a huge fan of DwtS but the rare occasion I watched it, I enjoyed it.

Thanks for stopping by ladies!

I so agree with you on reality shows--the dumming down of America! I love Outlander and Game of Thrones though I am not a TV person either.,

My only regularly-watched tv is via PBS. I am hooked on several series (besides the famous Downton Abbey, of course): Call the Midwife, Poldark, Mr. Selfridge, Grantchester, to name a few. How is it, these producers find their way into our psyche? Thanks for the post!

I LOVE watching TV, but NOT reality shows. Ugh... Can't stand them. This one sounds like it might be worthwhile. I can't help but think that all reality shows are somewhat staged, though, for ratings and such. Even shows like The Voice and American Idol.

I liked House Hunters for quite a while but then tired of the whiners who rejected [what I considered glorious] a house because the kitchen didn't have granite countertops. Clearly they never tried to keep granite looking clean. Then there are those who MUST have more than one bathroom. I know people who are grateful for access to a bathroom which has a lock on the door to keep out the riff raff living down the hall.
Ah well . . . these days I'm into Say Yes to the Dress--much to the hub's disgust. Give me Randy or Monty any day. They might be somewhat flamboyant but they tell it like it is.
Great post, Pam

I always like it when the boss can't do the tasks his employees handle and they tell him they don't think he's going to last long. Then they show him saying to the camera how he doesn't understand how they do it!

I love that show as well. It can be so heart warming. My TV show is Once Upon A Time. I can't get enough of it. You should see my pinterest board for it. (I'm blushing.) Nice post!

I haven't watched either of those Linda (Nightingale) one friend of mine won't miss them but they're just not my bag.

I don't know Susan...when Heartland came on UP TV I watched it faithfully but now I have to wait for the DVD since it is no longer shown in US...guess those producers know what they're doing LOL!

I'm sure they are staged Alicia, I was never impressed with AM Idol, The Voice, etc but this one sure gets me my 'feel good cry' LOL!

Oh my mom LOVED "Yes to the Dress" Veronica!

Me too, Toni! It can be hilarious and heartwarming at the same time.

OH...Once Upon a Time...definitely not my bag...too creepy LOL!

Thank you ALL for stopping by!
Good luck and God's blessings to Each One of YOU.

This is the second time this week I've heard someone mention this show. It does sound interesting. They should do a spin-off show where school administrators have to teach under the rules they have established. So many times people in power make decisions without consulting the people it will actually affect and get their feedback. Sometimes things that look good on paper don't work in reality.

I watch superhero shows with my boys (Arrow, The Flash, Supernatural) and Game of Thrones and Outlander with my oldest.

Thanks for sharing!
