#SaturdaySpotlight is on Amanda Uhl & Healing Kiss

Good Morning from San Angelo, TX.

My honey and I drove up from Bandera yesterday for drag boat races and we'll be heading out Monday morning toward NM. But enough about me.

Today's guest is brand new to our blog so please give Amanda Uhl a huge W-E-L-C-O-M-E!

Thanks for visiting with us today, Amanda. Please tell us a little about Healing Kiss and why you wrote it...

Thank You, Pam for inviting me to be in your spotlight. My inspiration for writing my paranormal romance, Healing Kiss, stems from a profound personal experience I had at a baby shower. My older sister had invited me to help out, and, being unfamiliar with the guests, I struck up a conversation with a stranger—a young woman at the event. As we delved into the topic of the paranormal, I shared some of my past experiences, including a curious ability I had to draw energy from someone’s arm and hand, causing it to feel numb.

Intrigued, the woman asked me to hold her hands. Once I did, I closed my eyes and was immediately met with a vivid vision: an orange light pulsing around a shadowy form. As I breathed, the light became more vibrant. Thinking that perhaps I was alone in this experience, I eventually released her hands and opened my eyes. To my surprise, she looked at me dazed and remarked, “Wow. It felt like someone hugged me.”

Two weeks later, I learned the incredible outcome of our encounter—this woman had been trying for years to conceive without success. After our meeting, she discovered she was pregnant and excitedly called my sister to share the happy news, insisting, “It was your sister who held my hands that made it happen.”

This remarkable incident inspired Healing Kiss. In the first chapter, when I portray the heroine’s attempts to heal her sister, I draw heavily from this authentic experience.

Oh My Goodness, what an incredible story! Give us more please...

Yeah, the memory still gives me goosebunps. Here are the blurb and an excerpt for Healing Kiss...

To save her dying sister…

Lillian Milano channels energy from the healthy to heal the sick, which makes her an incredible nurse. But her gift puts Lillian and those she loves in danger from an organization that will stop at nothing to exploit her talent. When her sister becomes gravely ill, wealthy computer genius Tristan King is the one man with enough vitality to save her sister’s life. But being near him threatens to expose her secrets and destroy the walls she’s built around her heart.

She bargains with a billionaire.

Tristan doesn’t believe in the supernatural and is wary of emotional entanglements. But his beloved mother is dying, and his lying ex-fiancĂ©e won’t leave him alone, so he strikes a deal: In exchange for his help, Lillian must pose as his date for a hospital fundraiser. As the pair work together to save their loved ones, they confront a spiraling web of secrets that threatens their growing feelings for each other. The choices they make will either destroy their lives or heal their hearts.

Excerpt: Lillian glanced at the woman, who stopped in front of Tristan. She had high cheekbones and long red hair pulled into a sleek ponytail and wore a navy dress with an open neckline and cream-colored heels. Something about her polished, model look made Lillian suspect the woman was used to attracting attention.

The woman placed a slim hand with French-manicured nails on Tristan’s chest and removed a piece of non-existent lint from his black shirt. Tristan’s expression didn’t change, but somehow Lillian sensed his laser focus. Whoever this lady was, she was important to him.

Now was the perfect time to make her escape. Lillian took a step, but a long arm snaked around hers, pulling her backward, so she nearly tumbled into him.

He caught her, his hands snagging in her hair. “Not so fast.” Tristan smiled down at her, softening his harsh features. He winked, the movement so quick, she might have imagined it.

He turned to the lady. “Hello, Angelina.” Tristan’s sounded bored. “The fundraiser is still on. I only came to visit a friend. I’m heading out now.”

Angelina ignored Lillian, leaning in close to whisper in Tristan’s ear and giving him a good frontal view of her chest. Lillian could only imagine what she said. A promise of what might happen after the party?

Tristan wrapped his arm around Lillian’s shoulder and tucked her into his side. He smelled of the sea and something else, something otherworldly, something magical, like tall evergreens under a full moon in a fierce winter snowstorm. He tilted his head and angled his face toward hers. His dark-blue eyes were the night sky, swallowing her whole.

My God, what was happening?

And then she felt it. It began where his fingers grazed her arm, traveled along her spine, caressed sensitive nerve endings, and ignited a shivering, shaking, blazing trail through her entire body. White-hot scorching energy lit the space between them. His warm breath caressed her skin.

So energetic. So thrilling. So full of life.

Lillian stood transfixed under the enchanted spell he cast. Excitement curled and unfolded in her veins. She’d found a burner—the term her mother used to describe someone with immense vitality. Someone with so much natural power, he vibrated with it. Someone who could cure a room full of invalids if he’d let her.

Someone she could use to cure Hannah.

Wow, wow, wow, what a thrilling excerpt! Please tell us a little more about yourself and where we can find you and Healing Kiss.

#SaturdaySpotlight is on Sherry Derr-Wille & Mistaken Identity

Good Morning!

Welcome to another episode of Saturday Spotlight where you get a sneak peek into an author and his/her book!

Brought to you today from Class Act Books is author, Sherry Derr-Wille with her book, Mistaken Identity.....

A secluded cottage on a lake in Wisconsin sounds like the perfect spot to get away from everything—or is it?

Katelyn Devereaux needs a vacation. More than a vacation, she needs to put Denver behind her as well as the man who wants her as his wife and the birth family who is insisting on finding her.

Seth Miller knows the reason that he mistook Katelyn for Genean is his knowledge that his best friend’s wife was adopted by strangers at birth. Of course he can’t change the facts that Genean and Katelyn are sisters, especially after he learns that the company she wants to visit in Wisconsin is owned by Genean’s brother, Randy, and her husband, Brad.

Excerpt:
Sunlight shimmered across the lake and it glistened as though it had been scattered with diamonds. As she stood there in awe, taking in the beauty from the cottage, the dock invited her into the picture of beauty. Taking her sketch pad and pencil with her, Katelyn Devereaux walked across the lawn and sandy beach until she reached the pier. Settling into the deck chair, she gazed out across the water.

It was such a beautiful morning. She was so glad she’d taken the advice of her friends and accompanied Suzie Branch to this secluded Wisconsin lake. She certainly needed a vacation and could think of no place more relaxing than this quaint cottage hidden away in a different world.

In the distance a loon called to its mate, waited for a few moments for a reply and called again. This was the kind of peaceful exchange she had not taken the time to listen for in months. She knew nature was all around her back home, but there never seemed to be time to sit and listen for it. In Denver she was nothing more than a machine pumping out sketches for her clients, and on occasion, playing the gracious hostess for Martin.

No, I don’t want to think of the daily grind of running the Devereaux Agency, nor Martin Collier’s marriage proposal. I need this time to figure out just who Katelyn Devereaux really is.

Katelyn turned away from the peaceful scene before her. Why can’t my life be this peaceful?

You know why, Katie. The sound of her father’s voice within her head caused a tear to escape from the corner of her eyes. She’d lost both of her parents at Thanksgiving and never really gotten over their deaths. The only thing that kept her from going completely over the edge was work, work and more work.

I don’t think I can do this, Daddy. I don’t love Martin. I haven’t even given him an answer concerning his proposal. Maybe I’m not cut out for the wife thing. Even if I did marry Martin, I wouldn’t be a wife, not in the conventional way. With him gone so much, life as his wife would be no different than life by myself.

Katelyn’s thoughts came as a shock. Never before had she admitted her true feeling for Martin. More than anything else in the world, she wanted to be a little girl again without all the problems of being a responsible adult. Back home in Denver, her life had become too complicated to allow her to rest. For the past eight months she’d been running the Devereaux Advertising Agency, and then there was Martin Collier’s marriage proposal. The fact she had just learned of the fact she was adopted, only added to the crazy quilt her life had become over the past few months. Perhaps if her parents had told her the truth the shock wouldn’t have been so profound but they hadn’t. She’d learned of her adoption only days after their funeral.

Sounds intriguing don'tcha think?! Mistaken Identity has a heat rating of 1 meaning "sweet" and can be purchased at Class Act Books, Amazon, B&N and Smashwords.

Now let's meet Sherry....

#SaturdaySpotlight is on Constance Bretes & 2 of her novels!

Good Morning Friends,

It is with great pleasure I bring you today's guest. Constance Bretes is a friend from the Authors Helping Authors (AHA) promo group I belong to and she is sharing with us two of her latest releases.

Take it away, Connie!

Marissa's home was her haven, until Riley invaded her space.

Escaping from her abusive ex-husband, Marissa Simpson returns to her hometown to start over. She spends her days working at the local jewelry store, and the rest of her time is dedicated to mining along Red Rock River, searching for precious gems. Marissa has no intention of getting involved with another man, or with the community she left behind all those years ago. That is until Riley McCade shows up.

Riley is the Sheriff of Quartz County. He loves his community and goes out of his way to protect and serve. When he meets up with Marissa, he's bound and determined to get to know her even though she insists she's not interested.

The more Riley learns about Marissa's past, the more he concludes that she may be in danger. When her ex-husband shows up, can Riley protect her? And can he earn her love in the process?

Blue as Sapphires can be purchased at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Kobo.

LOVE that cover, Connie! What else y'got for us today?

He's an overworked police chief, and she's a disgraced cop. Can he rescue her from her own depths of hell without losing his heart to her in the process?

Someone is kidnapping newborn infants and selling them to the highest bidder. Police Chief Patrick Carter has his hands full investigating the case. To complicate matters, he's short on staff.

Jade Harlowe has secrets, ones that she vowed no one would ever know. She used to be a police officer, but when a tragedy occurred—one that everyone held her responsible for—she resigned and moved to another state to start over, accepting a job as a dispatcher for the police, fire, and ambulance departments.

When Patrick discovers Jade's past police experience he offers her a job on the force. He needs help working the kidnapping cases, and Jade previously solved a similar case, so she could be a valuable asset. But will they be able to fight the attraction that's sizzling between them? Something that could be very distracting if they can't control it.

The clock is ticking. They have to find those babies and prevent more from being taken. But a very nosy news reporter may compromise everything if she digs deep enough to uncover Jade's past.

Neither Patrick nor Jade thought they had room for each other in their lives, but working so closely together makes it impossible to deny the chemistry. Can Patrick break through the wall Jade has built up around her, or will her past finally catch up with her and she loses everything once again?

Jade's Redemption can be purchased at Amazon, B&N, Kobo & ITunes.

Wonderful, Connie....now tell us a little about yourself....

I started writing contemporary romance and contemporary romance suspense fifteen years ago, and after multiple rejections, got my first contract for Delayed Justice, released in 2014.

I lives in Basin, Montana, where three feline furballs own me and my husband, and a dog that lives next door named Sara, who thinks she also lives with the Bretes family. I love the mountains that surround my home, I love basket weaving, jewelry making, and just visiting all the folks in the small community we live in.

I currently have seven books published, and a number of other ones in various stages of edits. Right now, I’m working on a new book, called Roadside Love. A murder mystery/romance is a small town in Wyoming. I have two other books that are at the end of their editing days and now at critique partners, the books are Elkhorn In The Moonlight and Rocky River Gold. Both are small town romances.

Hope you enjoyed today's spotlight Friends and that you'll visit each week for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.

#SaturdaySpotlight is on Carol Nichols & A Different Season

Good Morning from Red Bluff, CA!

We're heading to Eureka, CA & Redwood National Park today so I may not be around much but please welcome Carol Nichols back to our blog with her debut release, A Different Season....

A Different Season opens in Oklahoma’s oil-rich countryside. The story finds Constance Sinclair, after the death of her husband by dubious circumstances, on the trail of his assailant which throws her into a murder. A stranger dupes Connie into thinking their chance meeting was all by happenstance and leads to romance and the final realization that she may be in love with a murderer.

Rosie Redmond, a co-worker, adds a comic interlude to the story as everyone tries to ascertain the workings of her mind.

The succession of different seasons, of Connie’s life, begins with first love, death, murder, romance and the outcome of circumstances of her dead husband’s hidden past. This topsy-turvy love-hate encounter keeps readers engaged with every turn of the page.

A Different Season’s sequel, Mist of the Moment, is planned for fall of 2017.

Excerpt:
Connie jumps while placing her hand over her mouth to stifle the urge to scream as the all too familiar rap tap tap can be heard from the other side of the door.  Her mind races back through her thoughts and her previous feelings, which has consumed her every moment since leaving the police department. The thought that JJ has murdered that girl, and even if he hasn't he certainly knows something more.  Then, as the thunder increases in intensity and frequency, so do her fears.  She can hear the wind fiercely blowing as it tosses trees and limbs around beside her windows leaving ghostly shadows on her floor.

Once more, the rap tap tap that used to send her heart racing, as she could hardly wait to get to the door, now makes her release a small, but still audible, gasp.

"Connie, open the door.  I’m sorry I left so unexpectedly the other evening.  Please let me in.  I know you must be confused.  Please let me explain.  I need to have you understand."

Connie tries desperately to control her now shallow breath.  What to do?  She grabs her phone to call 911, as she just can’t open her door to a possible criminal.

#ThursdayThoughts Guest post by Carol Nichols!

I'm excited to bring Carol Nichols back to our blog to share some thoughts with us so please give her a warm welcome.....

Do you have a mantra?  You know something that you can call upon during a time of need. I do.  It’s “Count all things joy” and “Only good comes from God.”

Sometimes that’s hard to wrap your head around especially if you are stressed, feeling inadequate to find a solution to a loved one’s problem or just overwhelmed.

Are there times when you feel like the donkey that has fallen into the ditch on the Sabbath and not completely sure if anyone is going to come pull you out?

We have numerous feelings brought on by all sorts of circumstances, and I don’t know about you, but when my heart is overwhelmed, I want to do anything but think about joy.  I want to escape from what feels too large and out of control.

I try not to have a pity party, and I certainly don’t want to do it alone if I do, so I usually try to pull friends into it with me by sending text messages bemoaning my circumstances in life.  But thankfully they don’t let me get far. They tell me, God is there for me and wants us when I’m feeling this way, to turn to him. To run to His Word which calms me and comforts me, so they send scripture.

Most times, you can’t change the happenings in your life that feel so monumental.  The happenings that swirl around you day by day. But, whatever feels bigger than you and I is nothing for our Lord and Savior who can handle all things.

When I want to escape, which seems to be quite often, and sometimes even want to hit the road so that I may be released from whatever powers that be, I’ve learned to first turn to God.

The kindergarten and first grade on Wednesday night that my friend and I are so privileged to teach in the worship session, are a fine example of this.  All are well on their way, as you can already see there open-hearted trust in the Lord.

We tell them that when they open the Bible that what’s inside is not only God’s word but God’s living word.  We tell them they can read God’s word over and over and then on that one certain day God speaks to us through that same scripture we have repeatedly read.  Yes, repeatedly read, but until now, until this particular situation, we have never read in this way with this need.

James tells us to Count all things joy.  So, when we are deep into it, we better get our joy going and always praise Him whether in the sunshine or the rain.

For with the Lord, you can find yourselves covered in the truth of His Word and in the security of His presence.  For in Him all the day to day pressures, which mount against you, can quickly be brought in to the size of the Almighty.  For our God is a big God.

God’s living Word gives us the safety we need.  And if God’s word is living then we, being in his presence, can give us the love and peace we need.  Then when you feel the need to escape, please turn to Jesus who’s waiting to envelop you in his arms.

Wow, Carol so TRUE! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

#TuesdayTreasures Guest Post by Carol Nichols

Good Morning Friends,

If you've ever met someone and instantly connected with them then you'll understand why I'm excited to bring you today's guest! Carol is a new author and new to our blog so please extend her a warm welcome....

I want to thank Pam for allowing me some time and space on her blog.  I find it interesting, though, that the first column available was Tuesday Treasures.  Don’t get me wrong, I am old enough to be considered a treasure, but that would be if you ever found me in an antique store.  I then thought that she might have a column with some type of ‘ramblings’ in its name as I’m also well known for that.

From the title ‘Treasures’ I thought of writing about the Grandfather Clock that has been in our family for many years and also a mantle clock that my Grandpa Brady gave to his bride on their first anniversary.  I could really get into that with the love aspect because you see I love ‘love’.  I love everything about it.  The first accidental brush of a hand which leads to eye contact where you realize you may have a connection or the first date when the two of you are oblivious to your surroundings and feel that you are the only two people in the world.

Cherish those moments my friends, whether you are yet to experience love or you have been privileged enough to have known love but now only in your memories.

It was the loss of this love that put me in a tailspin.

Those moments in time that can never be returned to you but also, in the same manner, can never be taken.  How you spend your time, I find as I have gotten older, can be complicated.  The days can slowly drag by in a mundane sort of way, or you can let your mind swirl with thoughts you have no control over, especially in times where you have experienced a deep hurt.

That was my life.  I wanted to stick my head in the sand or climb into bed and pull the covers way up.

Day after day I relived the event as it had happened and couldn’t get the endless circle of thoughts to stop or even subside.  I would go to bed at night to only get up again as sleep would evade me.  How I longed for a purpose.  Something that would occupy my mind in hopes of wearing me smooth so I could fall in bed at night welcoming the opportunity of sleep for a tired body and mind.

A friend invited me to a grief counseling meeting she attended, and they had us write about our situation and then read it aloud.  It tore me to shreds.  I literally felt kicked in the gut.

That’s when I started journaling.  I had journaled before and even written a little, but this time it was different.  This time I wrote to permanently get thoughts out of my head and on paper where I could leave them.

I started a blog, but was told I made everyone cry so I backed off and then I saw a small ad in the local paper that said, “Have you ever thought about writing?”

Well, yes I have, thank you very much.  I will see you Tuesday.  (You see I was talking aloud to the printed word but by now the dog is used to it.)

Long story short, I was embraced by the Creative Quills group at our local Carnegie Library, and in a few short weeks, a book was born.  I thank God for this opportunity he has given me and also for the purpose I have found for my life for truly this is my treasure and not just on Tuesdays.

Have you ever felt the need to put pen to paper?  Do you have something to say and a need to leave it somewhere except in your mind?  Well, if your answer is yes, I invite you, dear reader, to pick up a pen and paper and see what the recesses of your mind’s memory have to say.
Love and hugs,
Carol
