#WednesdayWordswithFriends - A Message from Me....

Good Morning Friends and Welcome!

If you listen to all of the voices vying for your attention we are either in the best of times, or the worst of times. But, how much of the 'best' or 'worst' is of our own making? In my years of spiritual seeking and (hopefully) growth, one thing I've learned is that we, as spiritual beings have more power than we know. Or, perhaps we're afraid of the power we do have.

Where is our power and from where does it come? 

The power is in our thoughts and words and comes from our God-given ability to choose!

Choose what? Life or Death.

Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

Deuteronomy 30:19 says, "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live."

On this day I challenge you to think about what you are thinking and saying! Consider your words, especially when it comes to the future of our nation!

Are you thinking, feeling, speaking fear and death, or hope and life? If the former, pray and ask God to help you have words and thoughts of the latter!

I know this may seem a simple, entirely too simple, way to have peace and make the most of what is happening in our government, but folks, IMHO it is the ONLY way!

Consider 2nd Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The power is in our hands....in our mouth and in our vote and if you feel your vote didn't count or the election was stolen or whatever you believe, give it to God. Pray and meditate on His Word, His Promises and then live YOUR life in peace and in love and send peace and love to your family, your neighbors, your community, your state and our nation.

THIS is the only way our world will change.

Our guests today have visited with us before....Bishop Ken & Pastor Sheila Giles have shared treasures and thoughts with us so please welcome them back.....

She has a Master of Divinity from Houston Graduate School of Theology and is in the process of completing her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Texas Woman's University.

Bishop Ken Giles began full-time ministry in 1993 as an inner-city Missions Leader in Dallas, Texas, while at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship under Dr. Tony Evans. He later served there as Assistant Executive Director of their nonprofit corporation. In 1998, he returned to his hometown of Beaumont, Texas, and served as Pastor of Outreach at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church and Executive Director of their nonprofit corporation. In 2000, Lincoln Bible Church was planted in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area and is now located in the Greater Houston Texas area where Bishop Ken Giles and his wife, Pastor Sheila Giles provide servant leadership.

Bishop Giles has a Master of Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University and a Master of Theology from Southeast Texas Theological Seminary. He is in the process of completing a dual doctorate in Christian Education and Theology from Kingsway Theological Seminary.

Good Morning and Welcome to the last Thursday in June!

Oh how time flies. Seems like just yesterday we were welcoming in the new year. Now, it's half over. Today we welcome a new author to our blog brought to us by PrimeStar Publicity.

Bishop Ken Giles and his wife Pastor Sheila Giles have decades of combined experience in Ministry and Christian Counseling. They both did undergraduate work at Prairie View A&M University Texas and were active in evangelistic work. Pastor Sheila Giles has served in church leadership for over two decades. She has a Master of Divinity from Houston Graduate School of Theology and is in the process of completing her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Texas Woman's University.

The very essence of help is captured in Genesis 2:18, when the Lord purposed and arranged for the Man to have his corresponding part, in the person of the Woman, fashioned as his helper. Specifically, to assist him(man) in fulfilling his God-given purpose and vision(Genesis 2:15-17) for his life, their marriage and family. Per the Lord's design, the Woman is purposed to be helper to the man, in spiritual unity and oneness via the institution of Marriage as established by Him. That is why, according to Proverbs 18:22, the man who finds a wife, finds a good thing; and obtains favor from the Lord. #TuesdayTreasures - Treasure Boxes

Good Morning Friends!

Surprise....two weeks in a row I share something I treasure. A rarity, I know LOL! I pray you are blessed and in finding out what I treasure, you'll consider all of the treasures in your life.

In the spiritual work I've done over the years, I'm learning that gratitude and appreciation are two of the most important attitudes we can have. I know it may sometimes seem like there is nothing in life, or rather in certain situations, to be grateful for and/or appreciate, but like Love and Forgiveness, Gratitude and Appreciation are choices you make.

What do these have to do with treasures?

Everything!

God loves a grateful heart and the law of attraction states that what you focus on, you receive more of (thoughts and things of like quality). Therefore, reminding ourselves of what we treasure and sharing our treasures with others, is a form of gratitude and appreciation, and practicing these opens your eyes to see, ears to hear and hearts to receive even more things to appreciate and treasure.

We all have items we want to hang on to and treasure boxes that come in all shapes and sizes to put them in.

Here are a few of mine.....


Some are bought and some are homemade (bottom left is one my brother made for me) but all are crafted with love.

Luke 12:34 tells us....For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also and Philippians 4:8 exhorts us....Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

This is what gratitude and appreciation do....cause you to focus your mind and heart on the good things in life.

So when you're feeling down and negative thoughts are crowding your mind, take a few moments and pull out your treasure box (physical or literal) and remember how blessed you really are!

Whose Mind?

The more I read The Secret and study some of the teachers featured in the documentary, I’ve noticed that many of them are Quantum Physicists.

One theory Quantum Physicists adhere to is that you can’t have a universe without mind entering to it. Hence, how our thoughts create the world in which we live.

Now, the Bible talks a lot about positive confession and how a man is the product of what he thinks, so there is no doubt that thoughts and attitudes can shape the world in which we live.

But I have a question….if its true that you can’t have a universe without mind entering into it, whose mind created the universe?

If the universe we live in was “created” through thought, whose thought?

Personally this is where my belief in God comes in. This goes back to Genesis and the beginning and how the earth and everything in it was created when God spoke (but He had to think before He could speak, right?).

Just a thought.

Resolutions & Goals

“Every step I take brings me closer to the realization of my dreams”

Well Friends, it's that time of the year again...time when everyone is thinking about resolutions and goals for the next year of our lives. Every year my goal always seems to be the same...Make enough $$ writing to stay home!

I’ve always wondered why I never seem to get ahead or gain victory in this area of my life until I read The Secret and I realized that victory is within me! Although many claim this book to be “unchristian” I find that it reiterates many Biblical principles.

However much I believe in the power of attraction, I must agree with Judi Moreo’s statement from her book You Are More Than Enough Achievement Journal, “Every step I take brings me closer to the realization of my dreams.”

Yes, the power of attraction works…but faith without works is dead. In other words, you have to do something! Even if that something is as simple as implementing the principles of The Bible and The Secret, you are still proactive in creating your life to be what you want it to be.

Experts say that it takes thirty-days to create a new habit, but I've found that it sometimes takes a lifetime to break old ones. When practicing both Biblical principles and those of The Secret, I’ve found that old ways of thinking/speaking are very hard to change. Oh, sure I may start out with a bang…all excited and expectant, but give it a month or so with little or no change and I’m sorely tempted (and very often) go back to the old negative patterns that are embedded deep within my subconscious.

Statistics show that people who make goals and write them down usually achieve more than those who merely think about what they’d like to accomplish. Visualization is also a powerful tool when it comes to making your dreams come true.

My greatest dream is to have enough $$ to stay home. There are only a few ways this life-long dream will come true….

1) Win the lottery (guess that means I have to do something and buy a ticket LOL!)

2) Sell a TON of books/short stories/articles/essays/etc (this is definitely in God’s hands—however I had 1 novel and 1 short story released in 2007 and have 2 novels and 2 short stories contracted for release in 2008 as well as numerous articles and essays to write/sell/post at sites that generate residual income)

3) Write/promote myself into NY Times Best Seller status (another feat that is in God’s hands; however His Word says that He will bless and multiply my efforts as long as I stay in balance between faith and works)

4) Work/invest/find ways to generate more income (ie; grants, write/edit for others, etc)

5) Dream/visualize/call those things that be not as though they are (Romans 4:17; I’ve created a vision board to help me with this)

I am – and will continue—to practice the principles of The Bible and The Secret to make my dreams come true!
