#ThursdayThoughts ... Sharing some East Coast Vacation Memories with You!

Good Morning from Maine!

If you've read my blog over the last couple of weeks, you'll note that I've been wishing you a "Good Morning" from different locations. That's because on May 31st we set out on a shorter than last year's vacation, this time along the East Coast.

We started out in South Carolina and while there visited the Mepkin Abby. The entire estate is beautiful but I really loved these wood carvings done with trees that had fallen during a hurricane years ago....

We left SC on the 7th and drove to Delaware. While there, we took a side trip down to Boonsboro, MD where I was blessed to visit the Inn and Bookstore that are featured in Nora Roberts' Inn Boonsboro Trilogy!

Upon leaving Delaware on the 10th we went on to Boston and had a blast visiting the USS Constitution aka: Old Ironsides and Cheers!

We are now in Maine to visit Acadia National Park so I'll be sharing more with you later.

Hope you enjoyed today's post and that you'll join me each week for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.

Until next time, take care and God bless.

  1. Pam,

Thanks for sharing this with us. Family health matters prevent me from traveling. So I enjoy this. Travel inspires writers. Have fun!

  6. Thank you so much for the share and the wonderful photos. For all my traveling, I have never been in our country where the country started out. So I love to both read and see the places you visit. I'll be sure to read your memories every week. Maria

  9. You people make me feel stodgy!

The problem is, home is too comfortable. Everything is exactly like I want it. It's not like I've seen everything or been everywhere, but I no longer have a bucket list. I love flying, even got a pilot's license years ago. I love the sea, but I don't mind that hubby gets seasick. In my nightly prayers, the last thing I thank God for is letting me lie down next to Bill. He did a tour in Vietnam in 1966 and I promised if he got home, I'd never sleep without him again.

Years ago, my mother criticized my contentment. "Let's call a realtor," she said one morning, "and put this house on the market. You've lived her too long." Great honk! Soon after that, she relocated, several times in her 80s. Only death prevented her moving again after she turned 92. She'd feather a nest, get things just right, then up and change trees.

In my youth, I was happy to travel, then happier to get back to "same old, same old." My joy at being me in the here and now is practically unAmerican. My mantra these days is: Whatever floats your boat. Come party with us. We're easy to find, in dry dock.

You all keep sending me stories and pictures of your adventures and I will continue living vicariously. Being stodgy just floats my boat.

  10. Sharon, I envy you your contentment. I'll keep writing travel stories for you to read. I don't mind if you travel via your rocking chair. And keep Bill close to you every day and night. Love doesn't come easily the older you get. Maria
