#TuesdayTreasure: Special Guest Post by Beth K Vogt!

Good Morning from Nacogdoches, TX!

I drove up yesterday to spend a few days with my son who is the Spirit Coordinator/Dance Coach for Stephen F Austin State University. He's busier than I am, LOL!

But never too busy for a special guest to share with us something she treasures....

The Treasure of Home

“There’s no place like home…”

In the movie The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy whispers this phrase to herself as she taps together three times the heels of those magical ruby slippers. She repeats the phrase when she returns from the Land of Oz saying, “Oh, Auntie Em – there’s no place like home!”

That fictional Kansas farm girl was right. There is no place like home.

And yet, home – returning home, being home, finding home – can be a complicated process.

You’ve probably also heard the phrase, “You can’t go home again.” It comes from the title of a novel by Thomas Wolfe, and in part, the book deals with how the passing of time prevents the author from going home again.
Not being able to go home again – that struggle is true for a lot of people. Sometimes they’ve been uprooted so many times – like the heroine in my novel, Crazy Little Thing Called Love – there is no “home” to point to. Maybe home disintegrated because of divorce or death. Or maybe their childhood home was a place of pain. Why would they want to go back?

Right now, I have to accept that I can’t go home again. Unforeseen circumstances have separated me from my family of origin. I never imagined this heart-pummeling heartache. I have to trust that God knows what’s going on right this moment – and that He also knows how things might change for the better in the future.

I am thankful that, even as I face the unwanted reality barring me from that one sense of home, He has provided me home here and now – with my husband and our family.

This home is where I belong. There’s no need for pretense or defense. This is where the comfy clothes go on and masks are to be left outside.

I bought this wooden sign a couple of years ago. It hangs on a wall in my home in the midst of family photos. It describes home best:

In this home …
We do second chances.
We do grace.
We do fun.
We do mistakes.
We do I’m sorrys.
We do loud really well.
We do hugs.
We do family.
WE DO LOVE.

There is no other place like this home in my life. No matter where I go, coming home is the best part of any trip. Walking through the front door, I whisper, “I’m home.”

And all is well.

#SaturdaySpotlight: Judy Carlson & The White Knight, the Lost Kingdom and the Sea Princess

Good Morning and Welcome to the last Saturday Spotlight in September 2015!

Seriously, where has this year gone?

Do you ever wish we could get back some of those days?

Me too...

But since we can't, let's enjoy this week's spotlight brought to us by PrimeStar Publicity and Nordskog Publishing!

Judy Nelson Carlson grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and thus began her love affair with winter and a strong attachment to her Scandinavian roots.

She received her B.A. in English from Trinity International University. Judy and her husband Tim have six children and twenty-two grandchildren and they reside with their daughter Liz in the Missouri Ozarks.

Prince Lael must prove his strength and loyalty when challenged by an insidious enemy. The tragic loss of loved ones will only fortify his resolve to fight for the freedom of the lost kingdom. Clara and Ian, two kids from Minnesota, will join the adventure to free a captive Sea Princess, battle evil, and overcome lurking temptations. They will meet the legendary White Knight and along the way gain wisdom, love, and friendships.

EXCERPT
A deathly pall hung over the palace and the city of Ajar as the threatening presence of the insidious Black Guard escalated.

“Hurry!” called the Queen to her maidservant, “Come quickly, Dianna!”

“Yes, Your Majesty!”

“The trunk is in my wardrobe closet. Count Amas has ordered two of his trusted men to secure it for me. They will take it to the cottage of the nursemaid Elnora and secret it there. We only hope they can avoid discovery.”

“Yes, madam,” the girl answered in a trembling voice. “Disguise it with this linen cloth, Dianna, and lay flowers upon it. If noticed at all, a covered table will arouse less suspicion than a royal trunk.” The Queen of the Eastern Islands paused and lowered her head for a moment. Then glancing up at the servant girl, she said, “If evil befalls both Lady Elnora and me, reveal the trunk’s whereabouts only to a trusted friend. Perhaps my son Loren still has breath somewhere in this dim world and will come thither to claim it one day.”

Well, if you like CS Lewis, you may very well enjoy The White Knight, the Lost Kingdom, and the Sea Princess.

The book can be purchased directly from the Publisher and on Amazon!

Thanks for visiting Friends!

Stay tuned next week for more Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and of course, Saturday Spotlight.

Until next time....
Take care & God Bless.

#ThursdayThoughts: Special Guest Post by Lynne Gentry!

Good Morning Friends,

It is my pleasure to bring you this special guest post by Lynne Gentry & Litfuse Publicity Group....

Enjoy!

“The Story Within the Story”

Writing the words “The End” to an epic series is always tough for an author. We wonder, Will this conclusion satisfy readers? Reader concerns aside, for me, wrapping up this tale was especially bittersweet. I felt like I’d been on a long, hard personal journey of exploration and growth. The trip had challenged me at every hair-raising turn. I was exhausted.
For you see, my story is the story within this story.

Dr. Lisbeth Hastings’ determination to change the past had its roots in my own regrets. I’d been struggling with the desire to go back twenty years and make a couple of different decisions. Knowing that I couldn’t, I wondered why God would ask such an imperfect person to write a story about his perfect, unfailing love. The assignment was almost more than I could bear. I lifted prayers of deliverance from this task. All I heard in response was: WRITE.

So I did.

Word by word, Lisbeth’s story began to unfold. With each line I felt the burden I’d carried for so long lighten. But it wasn’t until I wrote the last page of this young doctor’s tale that I realized how changing anything in my past would be like pulling a thread in the tapestry of my own life. Removing even a single decision (my children, for example) would make me into a totally different person.

Like Lisbeth, I decided each of my decisions was a different colored thread. Woven together, they created shadows and light, added dimension and depth to the whole picture of who I am. I took a good, long look at myself and decided the consequences of my decisions had shaped me into a generous, loving, and kind person. I’m braver than I think, tenacious, and for the first time in years, very happy. I was surprised to discover that I liked who I’d become. I’m comfortable with who I am--an imperfect person who loves God and knows, without a doubt, that God loves me, even when I fail. Grasping this concept was so liberating.

I don’t believe I’m the first Christian to struggle with this truth. The early church was full of people just like us. Even my hero, Cyprianus Thascius, struggled with perfection and his intense desire to hold others to the high standard he had set.

We are so tempted to believe God loves only those who are perfect; that once we have everything together, THEN God can love us.

But the story within the story of Christ’s journey to this earth is this: We can never be good enough on our own – and we don’t have to.

Now that’s a happy ending I can live with.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.  He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” –Psalm 40:1-3

#TuesdayTreasure: Guest post by Jillian Lambert

Hello and Welcome!

Today my friend Jillian Lambert returns with ideas on things to treasure....

PEACEFUL TREASURES

What are your treasures in life?  When we think of the word “treasure” we think of the material world…A large, wooden treasure chest full of sparkling gold and jewelry. Material treasures are appealing, but what about the intangible treasures? Common treasures in life are love, peace, joy, health, and money.  Which one do you treasure?

I, personally, treasure peace, and I will tell you why.  Peace is a core treasure, and necessity for other treasures to be enjoyed.  Think about it…What would love, joy, health and money be without the core treasure of peace?

The treasure of love is a beautiful, uplifting, joyful feeling.   Love without peace would be the fear of not being loved, or of losing your loved ones.  Peace lets us know that, no matter what, we are loved.
What about the treasure of joy?  Joy without peace would again be fear, fear of losing that joyful feeling…Always waiting for the next horrible thing to happen.  Peace lets us know that there is joy and all is well.

There is the treasure of health.  We can’t do anything without our health, right?  What would health be without peace?  Health without peace would be fear of getting sick or injured.  Peace lets us know that we are healthy and all is well.

Money is a well-known treasure.  What would wealth be without peace?  Fear…Fear of spending too much money, not having enough money, or the fear of someone stealing your money.  With or without money, peace lets us know we are wealthy.

When it comes down to it, peace is the treasure of all treasures.  Peace eradicates fear.  Peace washes away worry, fear and doubt. Peace dissolves the fearful “What if?” questions in life.  Peace gives us comfort, relaxation and a knowingness that all is well.  Peace says, “All is well, enjoy your treasures.”

#SaturdaySpotlight: Katie Clark & Redeemer!

Good Morning Friends,

Within the last couple of months, fellow Pelican Book Group / Watershed author, Katie Clark has shared with us Vanquished and Deliverance the first two books in her YA Distopian Enslaved series. Well today, Katie brings us book 3 in the series, Redeemer.

In this final chapter of the Enslaved series, Hana is faced not only with a new life, but an entirely new way of thinking. Unexpected friends give insight into who the Greaters truly are. Deciding what to do with this information sends Hana on what may be her very last journey. Ever.

Excerpt: I close my eyes and lean my head against the metal paneling of the transport truck. The constant vibrations rattle my teeth, and when we hit a pothole I bite my tongue. I swallow the salty blood.

Every inch of my body hurts, from the cuts running deep and wide along my skin—courtesy of the barbwire at the prison in Greater City—to the aching muscles from the tumbles over the fences. Escaping a prison riot isn’t easy, as I learned.

A single drop of sweat trickles down my left temple. Lesser City 4 is farther south than the other cities, and without any vents in this death wagon, I’ve never been hotter in my life.

I shift in my seat, but there’s no point in moving or trying to stop the vibrations. Enduring the ride isn’t a choice, and it’s even worse to endure it alone. There’s no one to talk to, no one to commiserate with. It’s only me. I’ve been demoted, and I’ll probably be alone for the rest of my lonely, miserable life. It wouldn’t surprise me if they marked it across my forehead: Hana Norfolk, demoted.

The truck rumbles down the poorly maintained roads for what seems like an eternity. The bounce, bounce, bounce lulls me into some kind of sleepy state. I let my eyelids slide shut and pretend I’m only travelling for an observation visit, the kind I used to go on when I was preparing a way to help the Lessers.

Before I knew there was no help for them.

Redeemer can be purchased at Amazon in paperback & for Kindle and at Pelican Book Group in print and ebook.

You can even get the entire Enslaved series E-bundle for less than buying them individually -- Makes a great gift for the readers on your lists!

#ThursdayThoughts: Corbin Bernsen on his novel RUST & a #Giveaway!

Good Morning Friends!

I am thrilled to bring you this week's Thursday Thoughts from Corbin Bernsen brought to you by Adams Media & Pelican Book Group.

This post is part of Mr. Bernsen's ""Win It Before You Can Buy It" Book Giveaway!" so leave a comment for your chance to win 1 of 2 copies of Rust, the novel adaptation to the movie Corbin wrote and produced in 2010.

In his own words, Corbin tells us how Rust the novel came about.....

I never knew while writing the film version of Rust that my “journey of faith” had begun.  I grew up in a Christian Science household, so my introduction to Christian faith was well cemented; but over the years, without going to church, bible study or keeping the dust off, my faith drifted to the back of my mind—although, it never faded completely, and I have always felt the presence of Jesus in my life, stronger at times than others.  After my father died, the void once occupied by practicing faith daily became apparent as I grappled with the concept that my father was gone.  Then, with what I now understand to be a perfect confluence of events organized by powers greater than me--OK, God—things began to come to me, including the small town of Kipling, Saskatchewan, buried in the heartland of Canada, wanting to make a movie… and FUND IT!  Wow!

And so the journey began. It became clear that this was much more than just making a movie.  This was a path laid out for me to simply give in, give over, and follow.  Every turn, every day, became a clear signpost that kept driving me in a direction… a road to rediscovering my faith.

And the movie Rust was made.  Picked up by Sony Pictures / Affirm Pictures – the company that had just released Fireproof!  Everything, and I mean everything, was flowing. The ice and mud that had congested my faith was gone and I was running free with purpose and direction.  It hasn’t let up since. I have written and directed five more of what I call “journey of faith films.” Along the way my mother passed, and I can tell you, thank God--and I mean that--thank You Lord for giving me a structure, a path, and a peace to get me through that rough time!

As time passed, once again a rust brought on by complacency, which in turn gave way to fear, began to corrode my new-found faith.  In a world head-locked in turmoil, without hope, delivering doubt about so many things--my country, world, and most shockingly, God--I found myself asking the very same question James Moore asks in Rust: “How could such a loving God allow so much pain and suffering?”

That lasted all of five minutes and the answer was delivered.  Time to dust off the faith once again, put in the time, redirect the focus and remove the "rust" that had begun working its way back in.  Write the book!  Rust the novel.  Go back to the well and drink again the story that set you on the path.  God has not forsaken you! I did, and a yet another reinvention of my life and faith has begun!

Rust: The Novel is the plight of one pastor’s crisis of faith and the struggle to save his friend’s life and restore hope to a floundering community. Readers will be getting a “better, fuller, richer story in the novel,” says Bernsen. “I was able to expand more intelligently, more interestingly, on some of the original themes and concepts in the film.”

Fans will be able to enjoy Rust: The Novel in both softcover and e-book formats. Pre-order discounts as well as book clubs, retailers’ and librarians’ specials are available. For more information about the forthcoming novel and Bernsen, visit http://pelicanbookgroup.com/rustnovel.

RUST the movie can be purchased at Amazon.com.

Corbin Bernsen most recently starred as Henry Spencer on USA Network’s hit original series Psych. First catapulted to stardom during the 1980s by the hit NBC TV series, L.A. Law, he was nominated twice for both an Emmy® Award and a Golden Globe Award®.  Along the way, he hosted Saturday Night Live, and guest starred on Seinfeld and Star Trek to name a few notable television appearances. In the feature film arena, he starred in the comedy Hello Again, followed by other critically-acclaimed roles in Disorganized Crime, Wolfgang Peterson’s Shattered, The Great White Hype, and as the Cleveland Indians’ third baseman-turned-owner Roger Dorn in the extremely popular Major League series of films. With the film Rust, Bernsen shifted his focus to family-friendly movies and formed Home Theater Films. Bernsen’s latest film project, Christian Mingle , was released in January 2015 by Capitol. Bernsen lives in Los Angeles with his wife of 26 years, actress Amanda Pays, and their four sons.

#TuesdayTreasure: Guest Post by Sarah Sundin!

Good Morning Friends,

Well, I made it back safe and sound from my little vacation. I'll be sharing treasures from the trip sometime in the near future.

Meanwhile, enjoy this Tuesday Treasure from Sarah Sundin, brought to you by Litfuse Publicity Group....

Wearing History

When I was young, I collected buttons. Hundreds of them—from vacations, political campaigns, events, and funny ones that caught my fancy. In my college dorm room, I mounted them on my bulletin board on a piece of fabric. Instant conversation piece! However, one button stayed at home to keep it safe.

My grandmother gave me this button from her childhood, when schoolchildren around the country saved their pennies to restore the USS Constitution, “Old Ironsides” herself.

Since I come from old New England stock and my parents love all things nautical, I was familiar with the Constitution and the story of the young United States Navy’s historic victory in the War of 1812. So I treasured this little metal piece of history and my grandmother’s small role in preserving the nation’s flagship.

When I was researching Through Waters Deep, which is set in Boston in 1941, I visited the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston. Since the book’s heroine works at the Boston Navy Yard (as it was called in 1941) and the hero serves on a destroyer, I spent a full day taking pictures and notes and touring the Constitution and the restored World War II destroyer USS Cassin Young.

Of course, I had to visit the gift shop. This bracelet caught my eye immediately. Then I read the attached tag. The jewelry was made from copper reclaimed during the recent restoration of the Constitution. From her very hull! So I bought it. And the earrings too.

With my pennies, I was able to continue the work my grandmother helped start ninety years ago.

And that’s something to treasure.

Sarah Sundin is the author of seven historical novels, including Through Waters Deep (Revell, August 2015). Her novel On Distant Shores was a double finalist for the 2014 Golden Scroll Awards. A mother of three, Sarah lives in northern California, works on-call as a hospital pharmacist, and teaches Sunday school and women’s Bible studies. She also enjoys speaking for church, community, or writers’ groups. You can find her at http://www.sarahsundin.com

Through Waters Deep can be purchased at Amazon in Hardcover, Paperback and for Kindle.

Well Friends, hope you enjoyed this week's treasure!

Have collected similar items? Share them with us.

EXCERPT

With a shudder Gyan recalled the rumor that Camilla had enlisted demonic aid…
She banished those thoughts, and their attendant fears, by pondering the irony that Camilla had tried to strike at her through Arthur. It might have worked, once. The passion that had colored the early years of their marriage was still celebrated in song throughout Breatein and Caledon.
These days, she wasn’t singing.

AUTHOR BIO

Kim Headlee lives on a farm in southwestern Virginia with her family, cats, goats, Great Pyrenees goat guards, and assorted wildlife. People and creatures come and go, but the cave and the 250-year-old house ruins—the latter having been occupied as recently as the mid-twentieth century—seem to be sticking around for a while yet.

Kim is a Seattle native and a direct descendent of twentieth-century Russian nobility. Her grandmother was a childhood friend of the doomed Grand Duchess Anastasia, and the romantic yet tragic story of how Lydia escaped Communist Russia with the aid of her American husband will most certainly one day fuel one of Kim’s novels. Another novel in the queue will involve her husband’s ancestor, the seventh-century proto-Viking king of the Swedish colony in Russia.

For the time being, however, Kim has plenty of work to do in creating her projected 8-book Arthurian series, The Dragon’s Dove Chronicles, and other novels clamoring for attention. She has been a published novelist since 1999, beginning with the original editions of Dawnflight (Sonnet Books, Simon & Schuster, ISBN 0671020412) and Liberty (writing as Kimberly Iverson, HQN Books, Harlequin, ISBN 0373771347).

#ThursdayThoughts: Signed, Sealed Delivered /Touched By An Angel #GIVEAWAY!

Good Morning From Savannah, GA!

I told you Tuesday I'd be sharing some thoughts about this vacation I've been on since last Thursday but something came to my attention from Grace Hill Media I wanted to share with you. We're pretty booked up for the next few weeks, but I promise ASAHP, you'll get to re-experience this trip with me!

Now on with the news from Grace Hill Media....

‘SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED:
TRUTH BE TOLD’ ADDRESSES TIMELY THEMES OF WAR AND FAMILY

FROM ‘TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL’ EXECUTIVE PRODUCER MARTHA WILLIAMSON,
A HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES ORIGINAL WORLD PREMIERE
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

Following the successful premiere of “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From Paris With Love,” Hallmark Movies & Mysteries announces “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Truth Be Told”, a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Original World Premiere on Sunday, September 13 at 9pm ET/PT, 8C. Created, executive produced and written by "Touched By An Angel" Executive Producer Martha Williamson, the two-hour event features a tour de force performance by guest star Gregory Harrison (“One Tree Hill,” “Trapper John M.D.”).

In "Signed Sealed Delivered: Truth Be Told" the beloved POstables Eric Mabius (“Ugly Betty”), Kristin Booth (“Orphan Black”), Crystal Lowe (“Smallville”) and Geoff Gustafson (“Primeval: New World”) are on mission to uncover the truth from a war torn letter about a soldier missing in action while Oliver gets an unexpected visit from his estranged father (Gregory Harrison) that shakes him to his core.

“Martha Williamson has masterfully intertwined poignant themes of family, love, war and faith, taking viewers on a compelling journey overseas and back, all while staying connected to the heart,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming & Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “Our exceptionally talented cast and special guest star Gregory Harrison deliver an unforgettable story not to be missed.”

"We do not hear enough about how families, and especially children, are affected when a parent deploys,” Williamson said. “There is a story behind every letter sent from overseas to a child back home. In 'Truth Be Told' we meet a soldier's daughter who is desperate to receive one of those letters. In the meantime, she must hold onto the truth she knows without the answers she needs.”

“Signed, Sealed, Delivered” is a comedic drama that follows the lives of postal workers who transform themselves into an untraditional team of detectives to track down intended recipients of undeliverable mail. Their missions take them out of the office into an unpredictable world where redirected letters and packages can save lives, solve crimes, reunite old loves and change futures by arriving late but somehow on time.

“Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Truth Be Told” is the third of four “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” movies being produced for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in 2015, expanding the one-hour Hallmark Channel series that drew a passionate, loyal fan base into a long form movie franchise.

#TuesdayTreasures: Reviews on Circles of Fate

Good Morning!

Today I'm leaving Santee, SC headed to Savannah, GA so check back Thursday where I'll share some random ramblings about this little vacation.

As a reader I love to encourage authors by leaving reviews. As an author, I agree with the following statements found on Facebook posted by Karen L Silverman and Paul Cwalina

So it is with great pleasure I share with you these reviews on my novel Circles of Fate....

Lalla Broussard Allen said.... "Started reading your book yesterday. Today I am still in my pjs, reading and watching Hallmark movies. I never stay in my pj’s all day, totally out of character for me but I can't put the book down. Thanks for writing another book."

Deena Peterson said.... "Circle of Fate is a passionate Story.  Characters come within seconds of falling hard into temptation's grasp, and love is often heated and emotional.  But the writing never crosses the line into sensuality...it just tiptoes kind of close to it once in a while!" Read Deena's entire review HERE.

Deborah Piccurelli said... "I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good, rich, love story that leaves you thinking about it long after you’ve turned the last page." Read Deb's entire review HERE.

Talk about  humbled and blessed! Great reviewers/fans/friends and wonderful reviews like these are always something to treasure!

Set at the tail end of the Vietnam War era, Circles of Fate takes the reader from Fort Benning, Georgia to Thibodaux, Louisiana. A romantic saga, this gripping novel covers nearly twenty years in the lives of Shaunna Chatman and Todd Jameson. Constantly thrown together and torn apart by fate, the two are repeatedly forced to choose between love and duty, right and wrong, standing on faith or succumbing to the world’s viewpoint on life, love, marriage and fidelity. With intriguing twists and turns, fate brings together a cast of characters whose lives will forever be entwined. Through it all is the hand of God as He works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Circles of Fate can be purchased at Amazon (KINDLE); Barnes and Noble (NOOK); Create Space and Smashwords ... but for now enjoy this Excerpt....

She saw the struggle in his eyes, felt it in her heart, as each fought not to grab hold and cling. They gazed at each other, read the naked truth in each other’s eyes.
Neither wanted to be the first to walk away.
Shaunna touched his face, traced his features…his eyes, his jaw, his mouth. A shiver shook her when he held her hand and pressed his lips to her fingertips.
“I almost wish we had made love the other night.”
Almost?
The word echoed between them like a silent scream. The despair in his eyes slashed her heart another degree. He shook his head, swallowed hard.
“Know this. If we had, you would not leave here today.”
She stroked his cheek, her smile tender, bittersweet. “Take care of yourself. Please,” she whispered then placed her mouth on his.
Lips met on a sigh, breaths mingled on a sob. Each of them committed the kiss to heart, and fought not to cling to the other. With a final touch, a last trembling smile, Shaunna did one of the hardest things she’d ever done in her life.

She left.

#SaturdaySpotlight: Paula Mowery and her book, For Our Good

Good Morning and Hello from Santee, South Carolina!

I mentioned on Thursday I was travelling and here we are, in Santee, SC with today's special guest, Paula Mowery with her latest book, For Our Good

Charlie Jarvis is haunted by loss that fuels her desire to rid the world of drug traffickers. When her next assignment takes her back to her hometown, she has to confront her painful past. She has no interest in a relationship since God seems to kill everyone she loves.

Colton Thomas appreciates material things and the status of being a corporate pilot. When someone approaches him to deliver a package for a large sum of money that could wipe out his debts, temptation knocks loud on his door even as his partner, Marshall, slams it shut. Meeting Charlie challenges his non-committal stance with women. As he considers who he has become and the kind of man he would want to be for Charlie, he confronts his own shallow lifestyle and the fear that he would never be able to help her heal her wounds.

As Charlie pursues the man causing young boys to die of overdoses, she struggles with the secrets she keeps from Colton. With people around them shining the light of God and encouraging their courtship, both Charlie and Colton have to face hard truths about life, death, love, and faith. And maybe find a fresh start for them both.

EXCERPT: Though returning to her hometown might take an extra measure of gumption, the assignment whetted her appetite for taking down drug traffickers. “I’m in.”
“You’re sure?”
“Yes, sir. I can handle it.” She forced her tone to be firm and even.
“There’s a private plane scheduled to come in on Friday that the captain wants to arrange for you to catch. He’s arranging for a furnished apartment there. If you could pack up any additional clothes, linens, and such, we will ship that to you. I will see what kind of agreement we need to get from your current landlord to hold your apartment here.”
“Okay. That works for me.” Holding her home here in Florida was like a guarantee she would return and erased some of the reluctance building in the pit of her stomach.
Captain Roland stood and slid around to the front of his desk. Charlie jumped to her feet.
“You go on home and start packing. I’ll call you with further details as I get them.”
“Yes, sir. Thank you.”
“I just worry we’re throwing you back out there before you’re ready.” Captain Roland massaged the back of his neck.

She shook her head. “No, I’m ready.” Ready for the job, perhaps, not the location. But she would handle that when the time came. Nabbing drug dealers was her obsession, even more now than ever before.

Paula Mowery is a published author, acquisitions editor, and speaker. Her first two published works were The Blessing Seer and Be The Blessing from Pelican Book Group. Both are women’s fiction, and their themes have been the topics of speaking engagements. Be The Blessing won the Selah Award in 2014 in the novella category. In November of 2013, her first romance released in the anthology, Brave New Century, from Prism Book Group. This book went to number five on Amazon’s bestseller category, historical Christian romance. Legacy and Love was her first solo romance and was a finalist in the Carolyn Readers Choice Awards in 2015.

Reviewers of her writing characterize it as “thundering with emotion.” Her articles have appeared in Woman’s World, The Christian Online Magazine, and the multi-author devotional blog, Full Flavored Living. She wrote a section for Join the Insanity by Rhonda Rhea. She has devotionals included in several collaborative books.

As an acquisitions editor for Prism Book Group, Paula particularly looks for romance stories with Christian values at its core. She’s especially attracted to those manuscripts that leave the reader mulling over the story long after turning the last page.

Having been an avid reader of Christian fiction, she now puts that love to use by writing book reviews. She is a member of ACFW and is on the author interview team. She was a member of the 2014 and 2015 Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference faculty.

Paula is a pastor’s wife and mom to a college student. She homeschooled her daughter through all twelve years, and they both lived to tell about it. Before educating her daughter at home, she was an English teacher in public school.
