Saturday Spotlight EA West & The Key to Charlotte

Good Morning Friends and what a glorious day it is!
A week for good news all around, I'm happy to say The Visionary received two more excellent reviews.... 5 Stars from author, Dana Pratola and 4 stars from RT Book Reviews! Dana's review can be read on Barnes & Noble - the RT review is in the Dec. issue of the magazine. Tomorrow I'm getting on the road to Tennessee after which I'll fly to Louisiana for a few weeks. Although I won't be online much this weekend, I'll be up and at it again bright and early Monday morning~and that's my life in a nutshell LOL!

Now without much further ado, please welcome to our Saturday Spotlight EA West & her newest release, The Key to Charlotte.

Author Bio: E.A. West, author of sweet and inspirational romance, is a lifelong lover of books and storytelling. In high school, she discovered the wonders of sharing her stories with others through writing. She picked up her pen in a creative writing class and hasn’t laid it down yet. Her love of writing encompasses not only the romance genre but also a variety fiction and non-fiction styles.
Born and raised in Indiana, she still resides there today with her family and a small zoo of pets that includes the typical dogs and cats, and the more unusual African water frogs and a ribbon snake. Her interests are as varied as her critters. She has been known to carry on conversations about everything from politics and current events to gardening and theology. When she’s not writing, you can usually find her working on her latest knitting or crochet project.

Charlotte Harris can't speak due to a quirk in her autistic brain, but that doesn't stop her from communicating with others. Unfortunately, it prevents her from achieving two of her dreams--to praise God through singing and to carry on a simple conversation with her own voice.

Zakaria Rush is the new Director of Children's Ministries at Charlotte's church, and he can't keep his thoughts off the partially mute blonde with a love for guitar music. Her innocence and love of the simple things in life intrigue him and make him long to give her what she wants more than anything: her voice.

Can Zakaria help Charlotte find the key to unlocking her ability to speak, or will his attempt to help her only lock away their chance for love?

The Key to Charlotte is available now through Pelican Book Group/White Rose Publishing for only $1.00! and while you're there, check out Ms. West's other titles!

To celebrate the release of The Key to Charlotte, EA West is giving a copy to two lucky commenters on this blog tour. The rules are simple. Between October 28 and November 6, leave a comment on any of my blog tour stops (including this post) with your name and email address letting me know you want to be entered into the drawing. You can find a complete list of the blog tour stops on her blog http://thewestcorner.wordpress.com. I will draw two names at random from all of the entries and announce the winners on November 7 (winners will also be contacted by email). The two winners will each receive a free PDF of The Key to Charlotte. Good luck to you all!

That wraps up another edition of Saturday Spotlight - stay tuned next week for another author/book!

IMW, Grace & Peace be unto you in the knowledge of our Lord, Jesus!

Blog Tour - Michael Duncan & Shadows: Book of Aleth, Part One

Good Morning Friends!
I highlighted this novel on Saturday Spotlight a couple of weeks back, but it is my pleasure to bring to you this blog tour.

Shadows: Book of Aleth, Part One
By: Michael Duncan
“If history is written by the victorious, what if the victors lied?”
A stolen text...When the Book of Aleth is stolen, Aaron, captain of the Royal Guard, is ordered by Emperor Therion to reclaim the ancient tome. The mission thrusts Aaron into a world he's never known--a world of elves and dwarves, races long thought extinct; a world where everything he has known and believed is a lie.
A secret past... Forced to challenge his long-held beliefs, Aaron and his companions, two soldiers of the Royal Guard and two men of the Dwarvish kingdom of Brekken-Dahl, set out on a quest to recover the Book. Aaron resolves to discover the truth, and rescue the empire he is sworn to protect.
About the Author:
Michael has spent over 20 years preaching and teaching God's Word. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Rev. Duncan entered into public ministry and has served in four churches. He now resides in Washington State with his wife and three children and serves as pastor. When Michael is not preaching or teaching God's word, he spends time writing. Shadows is his first novel. He is an apprentice-level alumnus of the Christian Writer's Guild. Michael is also a member of the Northwest Christian Writers Association and serves as a board member and a critique group facilitator. Given the opportunity, he also enjoys time on the golf course.

COTT Kicks Off Tournament of Champions

Guest post by Jennifer Slattery
Last week, Clash of the Titles launched their first annual Tournament of Champions with two clashes and four talented authors. In Clash one, CS Lakin, author of Someone to Blame, and Marianne Evans, author of Heart Crossing, went head-to-head in a nail-biting, literary duel. In Clash two, our very own Gail Pallotta, author of Love Turns the Tide, competed against Clare Revell, author of A Season for Miracles. All four excerpts rocked, and this was a tough call, but you, our faithful readers chose two Tournament of the Champions' finalists.
Those finalists were Marianne Evans and Gail Pallotta.
Exciting stuff, and yet, the games weren’t done. In the next round, COTT staff cast their votes, and once again, one writer rose to the top and will advance to the next round.
That author is…
Marianne Evans!
And here’s a glimpse of what a COTT champion excerpt looks like:
“Collin Edwards stood before the funeral assembly. Heat crawled up his body. He clutched the edges of the podium where he stood and cleared his throat. The gesture was in vain. His throat constricted so much it hurt. Before the altar, just to the right, rested a flag-draped casket.
He looked down, at a piece of paper upon which he had crafted the words to a eulogy…” (Read more of Excerpt B here.)
About the novel, Heart Crossing:
Collin Edwards, a former parishioner at Woodland Church, has renounced God without apology, his faith drained away in the face of a tragic loss.
Daveny Montgomery cares deeply about her relationship with God, and the community of Woodland . Lately though, she's been in a rut, longing for something to reignite her spiritual enthusiasm.
A beautification project at Woodland seems the answer for them both. Daveny spearheads the effort and Collin assists, but only with the renovations, and only because he wants to know Daveny better. Despite his deepening feelings for her, even stepping into the common areas of the church stirs tension and anger.
Can Daveny trust in Collin’s fledgling return to faith? And can Collin ever accept the fact that while he turned his back on God, God never turned his back on him?
We’d also like to congratulate our prize-winning readers:
Jessica R Patch! She won a $10 Amazon Gift card from Elaine Cooper.
LoRee Peery! She won a free bookmark design from Delia Latham.
Larry Hammersley! He won a $10 Amazon Gift card from Author Anne Patrick.
Join us this week for more fun and prizes as four more authors jump into the ring hoping not only to advance to the next round, but ultimately reign as the Clash of the Titles’ champion of champions! Remember, every vote counts! Each vote gets your name thrown into the hat for our fab-tabulous grand prize give-away comprised of fourteen novels!
Visit our Tournament of Champions page for a complete list of prizes.

Saturday Spotlight - Clare Revell!

Happy Saturday Morning Friends!

Hope you week was pleasant and successful and your weekend doubly so. Please join me in welcoming Clare Revell back to Saturday Spotlight today with her new book, Cassie's Wedding Dress.

Clare lives in a small town in England with her husband of 19 years and her three children. Writing from a early childhood and encouraged by her teachers, she graduated from rewriting fairy stories through fanfiction to using her own original characters and enjoys writing an eclectic mix of romance, crime fiction and children's stories. When she's not writing, reading, sewing or keeping house or doing the many piles of laundry her children manage to make, she's working part time in the breakfast club at one of the local schools. She has been a Christian for more than half her life. She goes to Carey Baptist where she is one of three registrars.

Steeplechase jockey Cassie Hinton's dream was to walk down the aisle in her medieval wedding gown to become Mrs. Jack Chambers. Injured in the Grand National, she returns home...only to find Jack is now the Pastor of her parent's church.

Jack Chambers, now a widower and single parent, still has feelings for Cassie, but she sees him as nothing more than a Pastor. Even if he could change her mind, there is still his position to consider.
With the Royal Wedding fast approaching, Cassie makes her dress, little dreaming of the consequences of doing so.

Excerpt:
“Everyone else has photos of the royal couple and ribbons, silver bells, hearts and balloons. I wanted something more sophisticated but this…” she gestured at the window, “…isn’t it.”

“Maybe tie it in with what Danny sells. After all, the bakers did a wedding cake and the printers did invitations.”

Cassie nodded, her mind whirling. “Yeah…thank you.”

Jack glanced at his watch. “I’d best be off and get Lara from school. She complains if I’m late. I hope you find a solution to your problem.”

“Thank you. Bye.” Cassie smiled and turned back to her display, watching Jack’s reflection in the glass as he walked away. He’d always been a Godly man, even as a teenager, and despite everything that happened he kept his faith—unlike her. Her life and her faith lay in ruins.

She used to hope he’d ask her out one day, but it never happened. And now it never would. She was down and out before anything even got started.

He was a pastor, and she was his parishioner. A fallen- without- hope- of- redemption parishioner, at that. Strike one.

He was a widower with a small daughter. Strike two.

Her leg—her disability. No man would ever want a one-legged ex-jockey. Strike three.

Cassie's Wedding Dress is available now from White Rose Publishing

During her blog tour, Clare will be giving away a copy of Cassie to one commenter who leaves an email addy, picked at random from all the blogs. She'll make the draw on Tuesday 18th 6pm - well US time (that'll be the crack of dawn on Wed 19th here) And will post the result on her blog on Wednesday.

And Don't Forget~Pelican Book Group (White Rose Publishing & Harbourlight Books) is giving away a Kindle! Details HERE.

Good luck everyone!

Time Marches On & Release Date is Closer!

Good Morning Friends,
Well, I'm feeling somewhat better, at least I can get a few hours of work in now instead of spending all my time curled up & covered up to my neck.

Within the last couple of weeks, I received 3 more 5 star reviews for The Visionary!

Harriet Clausner said.... "This is an engaging inspirational family drama " AND "Readers will appreciate this fascinating tale"

KM Daughters said.... . "I loved this book and HIGHLY recommend it!"

Marianne Evans said... "With a deft hand, Ms. Thibodeaux mixes angst, faith, love and hope into a novel I'll not soon forget."

These were pleasant surprises and helped ease the sting from the 1 that wasn't so great.

All of the reviews to date can be read in their entirety at Barnes & Noble.

Well that's about all for now.

Be Blessed!

Congrats to COTT Clash Winner Tanya Stowe!

Divine gifts have been a topic of much dissension down through the ages. Some folks believe God bestows certain gifts on his children others firmly believe He does not—or at least that He might have long ago but He certainly doesn't today.
We're not here to argue the point (although for the record I do believe in divine gifts!).
That said it has been proven time and time again that certain people have specific abilities that others do not. Not learned skills which is the ability to do something because one has deliberately set out to master that particular challenge. I'm talking about inherent abilities that one naturally possesses usually from birth.
That's the kind of mind-boggling gift Tanya Stowe tackles in Tender Touch, the excerpt from which won the most recent COTT Clash. Lacy Butler is graced with the gift of healing…but she refuses to use itbecause it didn't save her mother. Pretty commonisn't it? We never seem to want the gifts God tries to bestow on usor we'll take the gift (Thank you very muchFather!)but we want to use it in our own wayfor our own purposes. Tanya does a fantastic job of bringing Lacy around from total abandonment of her gift of healing to an acceptance of God's will and God's way to use…GOD'S gift.
Here's a snippet from Tanya's Tender Touch excerpt:
The sudden comfort overwhelmed him. He wanted to close his eyes and slip away. But his blurry gaze focused on his rescuer as he unwrapped the muffler. He wanted…needed to see this man’s facethe man who had saved his life. He forced himself to watch as he pulled off the floppy gray hat.
Royce blinked. His foggy mind was playing tricks on him. A longgolden braid fell from beneath the hat and lay across the man’s shoulder. He slipped off the coat and beneath was the slender shape of a woman.
His man...his midnight visitor was a woman! Shock filled Royce’s mindand his head flopped senselessly sideways.
We asked Tanya if she learned anything about God's character through Tender Touch. Here's what she said: “Instead of learning something about God through this bookit is a reflection of something I learned about God from life. I’ve had some personal experience with faith healing and I wanted to write a story that reflected those truths. Of courseLacy’s gift is highly dramatizedbut the basics about how God heals are true.” (Read Tanya's interview)
Of her experience on COTTTanya says: "This was the most fun I had in an interview in a longlong time. COTT does such a good job. I really appreciate this opportunity."
Readers loved the Tender Touch excerptas well—and we loved their comments:
“I feel like I’m already hooked on reading the book.”
“… made me want to find out more about the mysterious midnight visitor man who turned out to be a woman. Both of these were great and it was hard to choose one. Can they both win?? !!!”
"Know ye not that they which run in a race run allbut one receiveth the prize?"
Currently we're in the middle of the exciting Tournament of Champions which will be in high gear from Oct. 10 through Nov. 4. Don't miss it! Past Clash champs duke it out for the final prize with each of them offering an excerpt that will hopefully have you panting for more. Head on over and see what it's all about.

* Delia Latham is a Christian wife mother grandmother sister and friend as well as an author of inspirational romance and women's fiction. She wears each hat with pride but treasures most of all her role as a princess daughter to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Congrats to Tanya and a huge thank you also to her very worthy opponent Shawn Grady.

Saturday Spotlight - New Release from White Rose Publishing!

Good Morning Friends,

Well this week has been difficult to say the least. Something got a hold on me Tuesday and hasn't let up yet. A Dr. visit revealed the culprit so a huge shot & 10 days of antibiotics and I might live LOL!

Today's spotlight is White Rose's new release Ghosts of Romances Past by Laura Briggs.
Ever been the object of someone's matchmaking? Ever wonder if you were seeing things? Well, Alice Headly's being visited by ancestral ghosts (or maybe she just hit her head really hard!) Either way, she's being guided through a romantic tale that will leave you laughing, weeping, and wanting more! Download it today.

Alice Headley has a solid faith, a strong sense of family, and a business partner who shares her artistic ideals--a guy who just happens to be her childhood sweetheart. But she also has a "perfect" boyfriend--the man she's been dating for two years--so when he pops the question, she can't believe her answer isn't an automatic "yes."

Moments after his surprise proposal, Alice takes a tumble down the restaurant's staircase. A fall that leaves her with a nasty head bump and some very strange side effects: Visions of three female ancestors, figures who seem as real as the women Alice remembers from childhood experiences and family stories. They must be illusions, but she can't deny the truth behind their personal stories of heartbreak and love.

Is this a trick of the mind? Or God's way of saying her heart belongs with someone else--the youthful love she consigned to the past?

Sounds like a great little story! Read an Excerpt & get your copy HERE today!

Saturday Spotlight - Pelican Book Group & Harbour Light Books

Hello Friends,
Well today is your lucky day because today I bring to you great news!

One year ago, Pelican Ventures acquired White Rose Publishing - yes the name remained the same but the great news is Pelican Ventures opened an imprint called Harbour Light Books and today is their Grand Debut!

And, what a debut it is - with 4 (yeah 4!) brand new releases!

Eddie Jones brings us BAHAMA BREEZE, a humourous tale of espionage, corrupt politicians, and a toilet tissue salesman who lands right in the middle of a hurricane--and not just the watery kind! For some light-hearted action-adventure with a love story, to boot.
ANNA FORTUNE is a government intelligence analyst who longs for tropical sunsets, early morning beach walks, and a man bold enough to steal her heart. SONNY CAY is a large, lumbering toilet paper salesman with a terminal disease, unpaid medical bills and the haunting memory of a girl he lost years ago. She knows the location of terrorist cells, corrupt politicians and that no man can be trusted to keep his word, wedding date or promise to love forever. He knows life is for the taking, love for the making and both end all too soon. So when Anna is ordered to protect a presidential candidate polling in the single digits on a fund-raising junket in the Bahamas, both get a second chance at true love. He came because he loved her, because all those years ago, she’d stirred him the way no woman ever had. She was his Mt. Everest, the pinnacle of his small world. His head told him to run; his heart made him stay. Now only the gale force winds of a “Bahama Breeze” can cool the white-hot embers of old flames erupting.  BAHAMA BREEZE is available in Ebook & Print!

Want more adventure? Check out Lilly Maytree's GOLD TRAP. This fun adventure will whisk you to Africa where nothing is as it seems, but all is a riot!
I simply wanted to step out of my ordinary life and find the Divine Appointment God had planned for me. I’d read about Mary Kinglsey, and it occurred to me that if I truly wanted to share an historical biography with my students, hers was it. So (with much trepidation) I booked the cheapest tour I could find to visit the Dark Continent of Africa. Who knew I’d meet a psychic named Vidalia (after the onion?) — not that I should have been surprised (after all, Bremen Tours specialized in “Voodoo relics of the Dark Continent,” or so it was emblazoned on their carry-alls, one of which I owned). But life got really strange when I met a mad (or was he drunk?) professor, a dashing prince (or possibly, the villain), a village headman (the warrior king? Or the prince of thieves?) and a witchdoctor who was neither witch nor doctor, but rather the sinister embodiment of a charlatan who preyed on tourists...and let’s not forget the man who started the whole mess—an embezzler-turned-kidnapper…of me! And that’s not to mention floating down a river full of crocodiles, two boys who wanted to hold me for ransom, an earthquake, a cave-in, the leopard in my bed, and a pink hippopotamus. In the end, my Divine Appointment from God held mystery, excitement and a whole lot more. Enjoy my adventure, Dear Reader, because I did!
GOLD TRAP is also available in Ebook & Print!

Michael Duncan takes allegorical fantasy to a whole new level...and another world in SHADOWS: BOOK OF ALETH, PART ONE. "If history is written by the victorious, what if the victors lied?" Pick up a copy for the answer to that question.
Available in Ebook & Print.

Jayne E. Self brings us a cozy mystery in MURDER IN HUM HARBOUR. You won't know who did it 'til the very end...not even Gailynn, our quirky sleuth could figure it out straight away.
There's a Sleuth on the loose... Part-time medical receptionist, part-time jewelry crafter, Gailynn MacDonald thinks she knows everything about everyone in Hum Harbour, Nova Scotia. That's the way she likes it. But when her former employer Doc Campbell turns up dead aboard his beached yacht, and her sister-in-law becomes the prime suspect, quirky, over-excitable Gailynn vows to unmask the killer. With Geoff Grant, Doc's handsome replacement, by her side Gailynn uncovers secrets and confronts childhood fears. And in the process she discovers that catching a killer is a lot like crafting her seaglass jewelry... it's all in the details.
 Available in Ebook & Print.

Well friends, there you have it 4 brand new titles for Pelican Book Group imprint Harbour Light Books!

Don't forget, PBG is giving away a Kindle! Details HERE.

Hope you enjoyed today's spotlight - stay tuned for more to come next week!
